    "Vey good" (108118239)

    Room was clean, Shower was awesome and the breakfast was quality

    Internet price is different from that the you would get had you phoned directly!!!!!! Evening meal was poor and testeless, we ended up eating elsewhere for the remainder of the week.

    the room was comfortable just. The bathroom was large and clean and the shower was good.The television was excellent.Good tea & coffee making equipment.

    Window sills were filthy. The hairdryer hose in the bathroom had perished and was therefore useless. I also hate breakfasts where you cannot even have a pot of tea or coffee but have to use a flask which by their own admission had been filled at seven. We went for breakfast at eight. No menu was offered.

    "We think that hotel is perfect for weekdays.On weekends, because it is on High Street (pubs nearby, including hotels' own), you will have a squad of drunk, noisy people right under your window.It is okay as a cheap accommodation, but will not book here again." (108471731)

    Nice, small hotel in nice small town.Everything was working in room, although nothing was in perfect condition.

    Cleanliness is the main issue!!! Spider net on the window.Dust on the furniture.Some stains on the carpet.Reception staff was working behind the bar as well, so you will have to look for them.

    "Disappointing. Absolutely no value for money. We chose this hotel because we liked the picture and description on the internet. We have stayed in a great many hotels all over the UK and we found this one most disappointing." (107898972)

    The building itself looks lovely from the outside.

    We asked for a smokefree room. When we entered the room, the penetrant smell of smoke made us sick. The only clean aspect in the room was the bed linen. Sockets, doors, behind tv, behind dressing table and wardrobe; walls and ceilings; window panes, everything was very dusty and dirty. The bathroom was even worse. Zest and dirt; smelly; hair in bath and wash basin. Rooms were apparently recently refurbished. The new wallpaper was severely damaged, torn and loose on two walls. Breakfast was disappointing: no brown bread; no natural yoghurt, in fact: only 3 small pots of yoghurt, one of which had a hole in the lid. No honey. Coffee tasted horrible (dilluted with water?). Dinner was poor. We asked for a ceasar salad and got a couple of lettuce leaves, a piece of tomato and a slice of cucumber. The lamb roast was supposed to be hot, but when served, it was nearly cold. Three of us got our meal at the same time, while the fourth person got her meal when we had nearly finished. Digital tv didn't work.

    "It was good for a night - but after being placed directly over a party hall and having to put up with that noise all night and the lack of service it wasn't worth the £92 paid. We didn't stay for breakfast (though we could have), as the kitchen staff had ignored us when we sat at our table for a dinner the evening before and when you've got hungry children you can't have that. If I 'had' to stay there again I would check first if there were any parties planned and either 'not book' or change rooms over. Can't believe they would place a family room above the party room."     The Family room was well kept, clean and spacious. The bathroom was also very large with adequate lighting and a full length mirror. The check in person (when found), was understanding to my family's needs and offered us a larger room if required. Plenty of parking space to be found round the back.

    There was no-one around to check us in when we arrived and a staff member from the bar had to be called to find someone to help. We were kept awake almost all night by drunken revellers attending a 21st birthday party being held in the room directly below the family room! Bottles smashing, kicking off, screaming, shouting, swearing and violent behaviour was not dealt with by staff and no police were called. This carried on till the early hours. When waiting in the restuarant for dinner no service came and we left after 15 minutes although staff had seen to one other table where guests were waiting.

    "Good, but as Thruxton is a local venue I would have thought that breakfast could be served from 7am onwards as it is during the week." (107893481)

    room was spacious with 3 single beds which we had requested for myself, husband and 18 yr old son. Ideal for an overnight stay with an early start next morning.

    We were unable to partake of breakfast as we had to be at nearby Thruxton for 8am next morning and breakfast was not served until 9am at weekends, we were not offered any alternative but neither did we ask for one.

    evening meal not the best, the noise from the pub opposite is horrendous music blasting and yobs running about till all hours not much chance of getting any sleep.

    WiFi not working from about 10.30pm in the evening; no staff available, WiFi not working at 6.30am in the morning; no staff available; staff at 7.15am did not know how to fix; no staff available to fix the WiFi prior to our departure. Totally unacceptable facility and customer service. Low standard of food.

    We had a pleasant chat with local people in the bar and moved next door to a little entertainment untill early hours, we enjoyed it very much

    The place was super charming! Really cool 13th century inn. The atmosphere was wonderful, the room was clean. Overall I was very pleased with the appearance and ambience of the place.

    The bed was SO uncomfortabe. The springs dug into me and I ended up sleeping on top of the duvet. The advertisement warned that the place might be noisy on the weekends. I brought ear plugs. No go. The bass pounded until three in the morning and I think I maybe got three hours of sleep. I really don't see a solution to the noise problem as I think the major culprit was the bar next door. It was such a nice place, I really wish I could have gotten some sleep, having been ill the night before and having flown the night before that, it would have been a great benefit to go about my vacation well rested.

    the booking service, not the hotel, was very poor. initial booking excelent. very disturbed the compnay phoned hotel to get them to get money off me and they did not phone me first to let me know what was happening. I will not be using the booking service again. They said i should have had a call or email. i had access to both.

    Grotty interior. Poor TV reception. Poor service at breakfast. 'Rough' staff. Not as depicted on web site... This was a beamed period coaching house... the inside wasn't in keeping with the image.

    excellent staff on site, really. anywhere, everywhere. kudos to all of them. (and magnificent food at the bar ;])

    slight bank card issue with the online booking, resolved later through many e-mails - but resolved in the end, so there. not wanting the full english breakfast I was surprised by the 'toast only' option, but the service and quality of that too banished my worries. ;]

    15th C coaching inn, has loads of character, reputedly haunted (no bumps in the night when we stayed tho'). The staff couldn't do enough to accomodate us. We were lucky enough to be given a room with a four poster bed, it was brilliant.

    its a long way from home, or we would stay more often.

    "The George used to be 'the hotel' in the area; the place where visitors to the various military bases in the vicinity were often accomodated - I doubt if that happens any longer. It has gone downhill over the years. It does not seem to know whether it is a pub that does food and B&B or whether it is a real hotel. Its trade may have been hit by the recent opening of a Holiday Inn only a mile or so away. With a little more attention to detail it could be good again." (107979595)

    It is a lovely old building, full of history and character with ample car parking. Well heated on a bitterly cold evening. Food was 'pub-grub' rather than 'restaurant' but well cooked, possibly over-generous portions and sensibly priced. Staff friendly and helpful but did not give an impression of great professionalism.

    Check-in was done by the cook in his whites! Net curtains in my room were dirty. The restaurant was not laid-up for dinner so although I was told I could eat there it would have been in solitary state so ate in the bar. No wine list. Breakfast was pretty basic, one variety of juice only, no fruit or yoghurt, no marmalade; cooked breakfast OK.

    Quaint. Lovely experience. Helpful and accommodating staff.

    It would be better if the bed were more comfortable and have a lovely down comforter and newer pillows.

    Pub food was great. Room was large and 4 post bed was nice. Great LCD screen with plenty of channel choices.

    Cleanliness could be improved a little especially with the in room tea making facilities. Room cleanliness overall was satisfactory.

    Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of historical character. Central location.

    Hotel in desperate need of renovation - peeling paint and wallpaper, stained carpets, musty smell, badly worn furniture. Internet booking was not logged at the hotel but, fortunately, 2 rooms were available.

    Very accessibilty to our route on A303 In a small town with some options on dining. Price.Staff were very freindly and helpful

    Hotel restuarant was not clean with food still on the floor from lunchtime. The menu was poor. Food quality was not particularly good with hints that it may have been reheated. Very noisy disco in the pub over the road which went on until 1AM Then I believe the revellers retired to the sports bar in the hotel to continue drinking.At closing time 2AM they rolled out into the street shouting swearing and throwing up until the taxis took them away at 0230.I know folk like to enjoy themselves but this was very noisy and was at all not conducive to hotel guests getting a nights sleep.

    hotel conveniently located. Check in and out very quick service. Breakfast good. Excellent price.

    Manager was helpful. Waitress tried her best in a situation were they were very understaffed. Very near to Stonehenge which was the reason for choosing.

    Room was tatty, lots of stains everywhere which made you feel unclean. Bathroom was not clean, side of the bath falling off, we did not use this facility because of its state. Reception was not clearly marked. Very noisy with wedding party and karaoke even though in different part of the building. Area was surprisingly noisy too with fights breaking out in street below in the early hours

    Easy to find. Good car parking facilities

    En suite very very dangerous. Any body that is disalbed would find it very hard to use the facilities. You have to take three steps down from the bedroom to the toilet. There are also a lot of sharpe edegs that if you tripped could cause injury. Also there is a step up to get into the bedroom.
