    Breakfast starts late if you need to be on your way before 830

    "This hotel is well worth a visit if only to experience the welcome, the service and the food." (107784674)

    Contact was made by e.mail even before I arrived to find out any requirements I might have then on arrival the homely and personal greeting made me feel welcome. The choice of menu was good,the presentation likewise and the taste was fantastic.

    The road to the hotel is in need of repair.

    Excellent staff very accommodating, made an early breakfast so we could get away early to the ski slopes at the Cairngorms

    The only negative points were that the mattress was in need of replacement and that the heating fan was on and off all night, however it was -12 outside so this may not normally be an issue!

    Beutiful room with lovely touches such as the teddy bears, lots of interesting pictures and words of wisdom on walls, beautiful breakfasts. friendly staff. Plenty to do in surrounding area.

    Very nice quiet hotel. Good location. Good food.

    A bit too quiet. No real bar area for socializing. Felt as though we were "imposing" at times. Restaurant on the expensive side if you are planning to eat each night of your stay.

    "Had a really good overnight stay. The meal we had was excellent - really beautiful and presentation excellent. Great choice from the breakfast menu too. The hoteliers really made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble." (97143351)

    Room was really nice - very spacious.

    Cannot fault anything about the accommodation. Would highly recommend it.

    "This was the second time we have stayed here in the Penthouse Suite which is ideal for a quiet, secluded break. The price was much less than before so it would be well worth checking prices before booking for any special offers. The food served in the restaurant is of good quality and well prepared although some may find it a little bit expensive. We found the staff very helpful, even allowing us to have a later breakfast than normal which was very much appreciated. We shall certainly be staying here again." (97298283)

    The Penthouse Suite was ideal for our requirements being very quiet and reasonably well equipped. Very cheap mini bar.

    Nothing really, maybe a larger flat screen TV in the room would enhance it.

    The staff ie. Myra and Bill were very friendly and helpful and it was also verygood that you could order what ever you liked from the menu which suitted myself as I cannot eat big portions of food at any one time.

    The hotel is really nice! Four poster bed was brillant, and comfy too. A great view of the garden from our room. The room was really spacious with t.v and mini bar that wasn't over priced. The staff were great and cheerful, that were really good at remembering your name. The ducklings outside were soo cute. We went out for a few drinks at night and they kept the doors open for us until we come back.

    Had to be out the room for half ten next day. Breakfast last serving was at 9.15am. Kingussie is very quiet.

    Pressure from owners to eat evening meal in hotel, which was too expensive. Owners appatite for revenue too apparent.

    It was what we expect from a Scottish hotel, a real taste of highland hospitality.

    It was cold and rainy and the heating system was turned off (it was summer!)otherwise everything was in order.

    "It was a nice room in a quiet location. The gardens look lovely but it was too wet to go outside. The breakfast was quite disappointing - one sausage, one egg, one black pudding, one haggis, a couple of mushrooms and cheap beans. No-one likes cheap beans. And the fire alarm went off at 6am, and sensor beeped through until 8.30am, but these things happen." (97909913)

    Beautiful views, gardens are lovely, friendly warm staff.

    Furniture was worn,and room was rather dark. priority seemed to be to get you to eat dinner, which from looking at it seemed rather expensive. However from talking to some local people about where to eat they suggested there :)

    "Staff friendily, efficiant and had a natrual knack of making you feel relaxed and pammpered, food lovely made with tender loving care, homemade freash bread was a big plus, having our own front door also added extra privicy which we welcomed, we shall defentily be back again, Thank you for making it so special."     the staff were all so freindly and the service was excellant the attention to detail was great, the food was yummy, just the thought of it makes my mouth water. This was a lovely relaxing weekend break for us and will denfentily be cuming back thank you for making it so special.

    "The Columba House is definitely not any old, run of the mill hotel. Everything about it is just as we would have hoped.     "Location is excellent for a skiing break...only 10 miles from Aviemore and the village of Kingussie is very pleasant. The hotel itself and grounds are beautiful and our room was very spacious with four poster bed and large corner sunken bath. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was fabulous - it was the special touches and friendly staff that will bring us back to this hotel." (99250508)

    The room was lovely the wee mini bar was well equiped it was very spacious their were rooms in the hotel that you could have your dogs in it was close to the highland wildlife park and the rothiemurchus estate where you can do all the outdoor activities

    "Reception was somewhat strained - were welcomed by our surname rather than Mr and Mrs Bedroom accommodation very poor - bathroom requires upgrading - not particularly clean. Carpeting requires replacement Welcome to dining area very warm - sitting area very comfortable - attention during meal good. However, apart from wonderful starters, food was disappointing - one main course required to be returned; dessert of ice cream (homemade?) extremely good butaccompanying tart inedible.     Pleasant quiet setting with good views from the spacious garden. the room was large with a high ceiling. good breakfasts in a room with large windows overlooking the garden.

    Heating seemed to go off at night but there was a spare blanket in the room so it was no problem.

    "The door to the accommodation (superior room with 4 poster) opened directly to the outside, and had 3 exterior walls. The room was perfectly pleasant, but had a somewhat damp feel, and the radiators came on only briefly for an hour or two during our 3 night stay. The toilet paper ran out an one point and we had to ask for more. Provisions in the room (tea coffee, bathroom accessories etc.) were just about adequate - but less than would be expected given the premium price.     "we booked this hotel looking for a peaceful location which is exactly what we got, grounds lovely especially dining in restaurant looking out into garden.Staff always on hand if required but very unobtrusive,like living in someones home except you don't have to cook and clean!! only thing that disappointed us after booking the room as a romantic break was the fact that the bath was just a normal sized bath and the bed wasn't the comfiest!!!!"     Spacious bedroom. Nice dining room looking out onto the lawn.

    Unfortunately at night room was very hot but given that it was in the middle of aheatwave not surprising.

    A really nice hotel with excellent owners and staff who made us feel very welcome.

    There was little to dislike- perhaps a more modern TV would help upgrade the room but it did work ok.
