    Very friendly and helpful staff. Good evening meal and breakfast provided.

    No hot water on afternoon and evening of our arrival. Unable to take shower or wash hair.Water soon turned lukewawrm in the morning.

    Easy to find

    Although postal address is Betsycoed it is 6 miles from the town Breakfast is not served until 09.00hrs No toilet roll in bathroom and loo did not flush

    in my opinion there wasn't any.

    The heating in the room wasn't working - after complaining to the staff there nothing seemed to have been done. The ceiling in the bathroom was falling down through damp. No hot water via taps. Breakfast was sereved between 9-9.30am this was not convieient as we required an early breakfast and needed a cooked breakfast and was directed to go to the post office over the road and tell them where we were staying and they would provide one. On the website it is advertised as a 'Hotel' the fact that it was the village pub underneath which was noisy failed to be highlighted on the website information.

    Family friendly staff, good with children, nice pub food in the evenings, very comfortable bed

    Shower being in the room and right by the bunk bed is a bit odd - i.e. child in top bunk has the hot water switch over head, also a bird's eye view into the shower, making an early morning shower before child was awake out of the question. Not very obvious where to go to check in arrival either.

    A delightful hotel in an interesting village. We enjoyed the Heritage Trail in the street closeby. Good bed, nice shower, good food.

    I emailed to check booking and asked for directions but got no reply. It would have been helpful to know that the bus service had changed and was now a different number. We needed early breakfast and it wasn't ready in time which meant we had to hurry which was a pity because the breakfast was nice.

    Good breakfast.

    Room dull, dark not well lit. Shower cubicle built into main sleeping area, just a louvre screen for privacy - bizarre!!!! Ordered a double room and put into family room with bunk beds. Hotel decor abysmall as very dated. Very old towels, extremely hard, seen better days. No reception area all closed down - had to seek a member of staff from the bar area. Very overpriced for poor, basic accomodation.

    Check in was smooth and friendly and we were treated very well by the staff.

    There was no hot water in the morning, we had already arranged to leave early and forego breakfast but were very disappointed to discover no hot water at 7am, we were planning to leave at 7.30am.

    The hotel is in need of a make over, but its a young couple who have the hotel with a young family. Beds are clean, its warm, plenty of hot water and she is a lovely cook and food excellent

    1. uNDERSTOOD THAT PAYMENT HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE WHEN BOOKED VIA INTERNET. wE WERE CONTACTED 2 DAYS AFTER THE STAY TO INFORM US THAT WE HAD NOT PAID AND REQUESTED SOME CREDIT CARD DETAILS. WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF THIS SITUATION WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL. wE UNDERSTOOD THAT MEALS WERE AVAILABLE BUT WE WERE NOT OFFERED THIS FACILITY. THE SHOWER HEAD WOULD NOT KEEP IN ONE POSITION AND WE HAD TO USE A COAT HANGER TO HOLD IT IN POSITION. WE HAD TO ASK FOR BATH TOWELS AS THERE WERE NONE IN THE ROOM.

    "On being told check in was at 11am we turned up and the place was shut. We booked a family en-suite to find out the toilet was broken and we would have to use the communal bathroom (not ideal with small children). The bedding was clean but the room was horrible. The wallpaper was peeling off the ceiling and the kettle didnt work. Would not stay again." (107747062)

    Communal areas were good, the dining room was lovely as was the breakfast. Reduction in price originally quoted.

    Bedroom in poor state of decoration and quite dirty. Communal bathroom seemed to also have communal towels (yuk).

    Excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfast, proprietors evidently trying to develop the hotel but they have a big job.

    No one visible on arrival.Bar cleanliness not good. Evening meal inexpensive but still below standard expected, eg no vegetables served with main dish. Breakfast room very well refurbished but too big and cold for comfort - needs to be re located.

    "I was very disappointed with this hotel. Very low quality service and price for room per night was NOT adequate to the standards provided. More than that in the morning no one was in hotel, however after few minutes of hanging around to seek help The owner of the Hotel came out of the one of the rooms looking a bit untidy. I made a complaint to him. I was told noone never complaint here, " JUST GET YOUS STAFF OUT BEFORE YOU GET ON MY NERVES" - It was very rude and not professional as for the Hotel Owner. I wasn't really interested how much money the owner had put in hotel in order to run it. I was driving form Cornwall 360 Miles arrived late at hotel and I did required a quiet night. All what i had received is just nightmare night, I woke up tired with headache. because of that I had to shortened my holidays. I would like to rise an official claim against hotel and demand full refund for the night I stayed there. I do not recommend this hotel at all to anyone. " (108035221)

    Theres nothing I can say here about good points.

    Lots of bad points. First of all the reception desk is closed at all times. Only notice is displayed if the guest need any assistance they should ask the member of staff at the bar. The bar for some reason is opened till late night 03-04 AM while should be normally closed. I did complaint about the noise and loud music coming from the bar in middle of the night about 03-04 in the morning. The room I had was disgusting. I did not expect a shower cabin to be located in the room just next to window and in the corner of the room. I thought its going to be separated as is the toilet. More than that no soap / shampoo was provided. However hand wash liquid was in the toilet. The shower cabin was filthy and dirty with black spots in the corners. Room was cold in the morning.

    We were made very welcome and our rooms were up-graded to en-suite which was very good as we had small children with us. The evening meals were of very good value and quality and an excellent breakfast was provided.

    The toilet in one of the rooms was not really functioning well and became blocked - this needed attention as a matter of urgency.

    The hotel comprises a lovely stone building, but the interior is dated and tired.

    Location of the hotel enabled locals to attend the pub part of the hotel, they were friendly and engaged with the residents to make them feel welcome.

    Bathroom was unfinished (decor) ceilign painted however overspilled onto the walls. The tiles around the bath had mold and needed cleaning and regrouting. The windows were dirty and the paintwork needed cleaning. The heating was on in the room when we arrived whihc in the height of Summer was not necessary. The bed linen smelled musty (particularly the pillow cases) after asking these to be changed, they were not. Breakfast window was 30 mins from 9.00 to 9.30 and when we received our breakfast some of the contents were overcooked.

All I can say about previous comments which are not complimentary, maybe they should have paid more for an hotel which had with all the facilities they required.You get what you pay for and we both felt we got enough and more for our money.     this was everything that my partner and I were looking for. An inexpensive overnight stay in an inn whilst we enjoyed the surrounding countryside. The room was clean and comfortable enough and the breakfast was very good.
