    "Excellent. My wife and I have every intention of staying there again-------if they are not fully booked!" (108288324)

    At reception we were made most welcome. The room we had was spotless and for an overnight stay there was ample room. The staff were friendly and most helpful and the food was excellent.

    Arriving at night I found that I was passing the hotel, coming from Bodmin, before I noticed the driveway. (Possible extra lighting?)

    The hotel is clean and well furnished. The room was very comfortable, with all facilities working well. The food is truly excellent, and the staff courteous and helpful.

    "Our room (named Padstow) was of a good size with a very comfortable bed. There was no shower but baths were fine for us! The hotel is ideally located for access to Padstow and Port Isaac in one direction with Heligan and Eden gardens in the other. Try to avoid Bodmin by exiting/rejoining A30 via quaint back roads crossing the Camel Bike trail." (108782098)

    The co-owners Alistair and Debra Hunter made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Enquiries such as high tide times at Port Isaac to allow beach parking were quickly sourced and a request for a swim by other braver guests quickly had Alistair whipping the cover off! Be warned however he does talk up the water temperature!

    Although drinks can be purchased to have in one of the two small lounges they do really need a proper bar. We did try drinks outside in the delightful courtyard but the close proximity of the kitchens and the use of the area for smoking diners made it far from ideal. Alistair tells us they have plans to extend the restaurant and will no doubt address these issues.

    Clean large room and nice furniture, large bathroom, tea and coffe facilities. Breakfast good. Ate in restaurant on the first night, supposed to be excellent fish restaurant, quality and service not up to the prices charged. Staff good at helping to find out details of places to visit in the area, looked up on internet for us.

    Our room was in the Coach House a separate building from the main. Room extremely cold, heating not on when we arrived at 4pm. We were told it would be coming on, 30 minutes later I telephoned reception and requested the heating be turned on or supply us with a fan heater, not a good start. Prebooked evening meal for 8pm to be told we had to eat at 7.30pm on a Sunday at the latest. Very strange fish soup with cloves in. No kippers on second morning for breakfast. We requested a king size bed, what we got was two single beds pushed together, they had the facility to zip together but they had not done this, so we had to strip the bed in order to do this.

    Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast menu, the best we have seen so far, and beautifully cooked. The gardens are lovely. All in all a lovely place to stay.

    There was traffic noise - unavoidable as double gazing is not fitted (probably local bylaw with old premises to retain original windows)

    "During our stay we ate in the hotel restaurant on both evenings, and this was managed by a well organised reservation system, so that reservations were staggered, and therefore time between courses was very acceptable. The restaurant food was first class, with a good selection, and whilst it was not the cheapest we did not mind because the food and service were first rate." (97196023)

    We stayed in a superior double room which was in the coach house and not the main building, it was excellently furnished. The room had a very large bathroom, with both bath and shower, and towels were changed on both days of our stay. There was also plenty of parking available at the hotel.

    The accomodation was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. They were also very child and dog friendly although we were out most of the time.
