    Excellent Bathroom. Large Bed. Good location/grounds. V Good food.

    Long way up with no lift!! One night the wine was drinkable but slightly corked.

    Beautiful house and location, but slightly tired interior. Very friendly staff and given a free upgrade. Puddings good.

    Disappointing food that did not match the building. Food was acceptable bistro standard, but a little disappoiting given the location. Portions far to large, and was served oven chips. Breakfast OK (ish) but black pudding burnt.

    Service is simply excellent, great staff, efficient and friendly. Special request for flowers in room was done with no fuss. Fabulous breakfast, I love my cooked breakfasts and yours are in the top three all timers. That black pudding...wow!

    Small criticism that the room was very warm when we arrived and only one window would open so a bit stuffy.

    Very nice welcome, friendly & efficient staff, good standard of rooms and general accommodation, very good communal rooms (lounge, dining room, etc), nice ambience.

    None (except - to be very picky - on apporaching the hotel into the car park, the windows to the right of the entrance porch (which I think are into the kitchen) look a little tatty; there are bits of mesh or something over one sash and things in the window which look untidy. Spoils the overall impression of a very nice building and entrance. (I am an historic buildings architect so its the sort of thing I notice!!)

    "Tillmouth Park holds special memories for my Wife and I, we enjoyed being back, but I feel the Hotel may be living on a previous reputation. The fact that the dining room was less than half full on a Friday evening, perhaps speaks louder than me,but may also suggest that our experience was not isolated. Would stay there again, as the accomodation is superb, but would seriously consider dining elsewhere in the vicinity." (108564673)

    Superb surroundings, excellent room in the Garden Suite with recently refurbished facilities. A grand old building with lovely walks adjacent.

    We found the dinner service was slow, which was odd as the dining room was not at all busy. the food and drinks were extremely expensive compared to other similar establishments, and the choice limited. My Wife was very disappointed with the desert course. We spoke to the Waitress who advised that She would inform the Chef, but we heard no more. The couple on an adjacent dinner table were of similar opinion.

    All our pre booking requests were met. We were given a free upgrade as the Hotel was not full on arrival. Hotel staff were courteous, friendly and interested in the clients but no nosey. Other guests were interseting, relaxed and friendly. Food was excellent and generous proportions. Tranquil surroundings.

    I did not see a lift and I wondered how disabled guests would access the upper floors.

    "The ambience of the hotel was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for the very professional staff. Great food and good wine. Our dog was allowed in our room and the ground floor bar which is quite unusual nowadays in many hotels where they are only allowed in the room, this was a big plus. This hotel is a hidden diamond in Northumberland and we will definitely return. I only hope there will continue to be room for us if other people discover it, which selfishly I hope they don't'!"     Very welcoming and warm. Lovely old Country House with real fires. Huge grounds. Oil paintings and chandeliers. Beautiful lounges and couches to sit on and great food. The staff were also superb especially the room maids who played jokes with the teddies in the room. No charges for our dog! We also saw a family of deer and lots of wildlife/birds in the grounds while dog walking, it is lovely to see nature so close when you go away to the country.

    We had to come home!

Felt that the water problem, which disappointed my wife who likes HOT water, was not taken on board as sympathetically as it might have been. We got the impression of a once busy hotel now struggling slightly but still a pleasant place to spend a night or two. " (107685104)

    Cleanliness, food, staff, peaceful and convenient location.

    Unfortunately the water in our room (which was a 'poisoned chalice' free upgrade with bath only) was barely hand hot. We were offered another room in which to shower but no concession was made for the inconvenience - the offer of an alternative room or a complimentary bottle of wine at dinner would have been a reasonable acknowledgement of the failure in standards. This in a hotel which admitted to being worryingly quiet is not the way to build good customer relations. Also the TV in our room was on a conventional room stand which was too low due to the height of the bed; I resorted to balancing the set across the arms of an easy chair to gain a reasonable view.

    "We had a relaxing and wonderful overnight stay. From the helpfulness of the receptionist to the wonderful service of the dinner (and breakfast). It was great and we will certainly be returning.     "This is a country house hotel in its own grounds off the beaten track. Rooms can vary in size - the single room was rather small. All rooms well decorated and maintained. The hotel itself has the feel of a country house / castle on the inside. Wood pannelled lounge and sitting area - overlooked by a large staircase. Food was good if rather pricey. Welcome friendly.     "The staff on arrival during our stay and at departure were the friendliest and most helpful we have encountered, they are a credit to the hotel. The only comment against would be the bar at night was very very quiet. It would have been nice to meet other guests.     "I think I might have asked for a room lower down, or ensured we had help getting our luggage upstairs. Otherwise, it was completely wonderful!" (99831449)

    The service was excellent - everyone was extrememly nice and helpful. We also enjoyed the view out our window - the ancient Yew tree all lit up was spectacular. Also, the real log fire (and of course, the food!)

    The only thing we struggled with was the stairs - getting our luggage up four flights was hard for my elderly father. More male porters needed perhaps?

    "My wife and I are much travelled and have stayed in hotels all over the world, we think this hotel is in a lovely location and the grounds were beautiful.The breakfasts were well cooked (the haddock and poached eggs were very good), and the evening meals were beautifully cooked and presented and well worth the money. The staff were very attentive and helpful, they also provided us with brochures for attractions in the area.     A nice spacious room,the large bed and the lovely furniture

    There was not a lot to dislike, apart from the the large amount of stairs to our room (but this was good for our calf muscles),also the wallpaper in our room although pretty was a bit OTT
