    good view, large room

    "A wonderful few days in a great place!" (108304046)

    Fantastic location, great view from room and dining room, nice hotel environment,friendly staff, food provided was great and good value for money.

    Tv in room had poor reception and very limited choice of channels. Waiting staff in restaurant were noisy in clearing up!

    Friendly staff

    We were not aware that dogs were allowed in the rooms. They were also in the restaurant area where guests were eating. You need to request a room where dogs have not stayed when booking. If you are alergic to dogs which my son is, this is a very important part of the booking form. Breakfast staff could be a little warmer and smile a little. Rooms a bit old fashioned for what the room rate was.

    "Delighted with the Metropole Hotel." (107881977)

    Great food and choice - well located for walkers on the SW Way - lovely spacious, tranquil, historic building tastefully decorated and furnished. Dog welcomed - critical for us on our coastal walk.

    Didn't realise pets were allowed would have avoided if known. Room carpet was covered in dog hair but didn't spoil our stay.

    "It was a weekend away for our 15th wedding anniversary and we seriously considered staying on an extra night as we could barely bring ourselvs to leave!" (107428394)

    Excellent breakfast, wonderful views, convinient location for the town, staff were wonderful.

    Great location (overlooking Padstow harbour and the wide estuary of the River Camel)and helpful, friendly staff. On-line booking was easy and efficient.

    The Metropole is showing its age. Our room was let-down by little things such as the creaking floorboards and the badly positioned shower curtain that sticks to you as you try to shower. Car parking is a challenge though we were always able to find a space. Problems with TV reception are, apparently, beyond the control of the hotel.

    Polite staff.

    The hotel was a bit rundown and needed an general overhall, for the price the rooms did not have air-conditoning or a mini bar and the windows were broken, we stayed in July so it was v.stuffy.

    Dogs staying in rooms... Canned /preserved fruit offered at breakfast. No hairdrier in room, shower curtains not shower screens.. very annoying, horrible blankets on beds, dingy bed covers. Need I say more

    "Disappointing and I would not stay here again or recommend it. I chose the hotel because it looked like the best hotel in Padstow. It is the most expensive but not value for money at all." (99592359)

    This hotel is not value for money unless the other rooms are far better than the one I stayed in. My room was dark and dingey. with a poor view. The hotel looks tired and in need of an upgrade. Waiter/Waitress service was disappointing and the breakfast was poor. I went for breakfast 45mins before the end of serving but some things were not available and the eggs looked as if they had been standing for hours.

    "The check in experience was excellent - all your reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They seemed to know their guests and treated you like you were the only guest - my whole party commented on it and as professionals we travel extensively. The bar and restaurant staff were friendly but if the bar was quiet, there did not seem a great deal of enthusiasm to keep the bar open after 10.30pm. Additionally, in this area, it would have been nice to have your staff looking out for guests entering the bar, cafe and lounge areas to provide a service rather than the guests having to search for them to give a new or additional order. Having said that, when you found them, they were extremely helpful. Overall good value and I would stay again as long as I had a refurbished room!" (97930914)

    we experienced 2 rooms - one looked like it had just been refurbished and the other was a little tired. The quality of the refurb seemed quite low but it was clean.

    The heating was not switched on in our room and we were very cold.

    "We had an excellent stay here in padstow. The hotel was excellent and it was in a good location, with parking which is at a premium in Padstow. We also ate in the evening at the hotel resturant which was absolutley fanatstic!" (97727956)

    The location was ideal with close proximity to the 'Seafood Cookery School'.The food was excellent.

    The decor needed renovation.There were too few staff on duty, especially in the bar to satisfy demand.No leisure facilities.

    "Generally, we had a great stay. The location was fantastic. The hotel website prices are very high, but we managed to find a better deal on the web (both my husband and I commented that the room was not worth £200/night)." (97940400)

    The location was fantastic. Just a 2 minute short walk from the main 'centre' with all the lovely shops and restaurants.

    The decor could be better for the price. The wooden floors were creaky and loud (in our room, but we could also hear the people above us and down the hall).

    "Very pleasant hotel. The staff were friendly, and the general ambience was very relaxing. Generally well presented, and my room was nicely decorated; clean and tidy.     "Apart form the afore mentioned issue with the breakfast, our stay was very enjoyable" (97980714)

    On our first morning there was a delay of at least 15mins between getting our tea & toast and our fried breakfast. By that stage both tea & toast were cold. I did ask for more hot tea but I was told that I would have to join the queue. We had our breakfast eaten and our tea never arrived, so we just left.

    "The location of the hotel is great but car parking space is at a premium. Finding a space and manoeuvring in/out of it can be a challenge. Each time we have booked at a discount price via the internet, we have been given one of the rooms in the roof which are inferior rooms though adequate for a short stay. Despite that, the Metropole is a respectable, well presented hotel with attentive staff. We would stay there again." (97434615)

    Being close to the centre of Padstow and overlooking the River Camel. Good breakfast.

    "This is a big old fashioned hotel in the Victorian style but with modern service and comfort. Victorian is part of it's charm and makes for a relaxed stay. There are good views over the harbour and it is easy to find in an area of winding roads. The parking is good which is a big asset in this town. Everything in Padstow is within easy walking distance- as long as you can cope with the hills but that's Cornwall for you!" (99277803)

    It's posiion is good - central to all areas. Comfortable room with more than enough room to swing a cat!!

    Creaky floorboards _ rather worrying when coming in late at night. Did I disturb other guests?Why wasn't the swimming pool open on a very hot June day?

    "All staff were very courteous and helpful. The bar was often un-staffed and the service in the dining area at breakfast was very slow. Generally the decor throughout the hotel needed updating.     The room was very nice, spacious, clean and comfortable. good shower.

    the decor in the communal areas of the hotel could do with an update. the 11 am check out was too early. i have stayed in other metropoles and they are all midday so we were expecting the extra hour.

    Very good sized room, all necessary facilities and everything worked. Bar service was amiable, service in restaurant good. Staff attentive and responsive - request for an ironing board was instantly met.

    Rather shabby, juddering lift! Fried bread at breakfast left a great deal to be desired - frankly inedible. Shame no kippers on the menu!

    "Had a pleasant couple of nights, although be warned - we arrived at 8.30pm on the Friday evening, finding the Hotel Restaurant already closed, and also all bars in the village plus the chip shop stop serving food at 9pm , so our evening meal was a bag of crisps!" (99528931)
