    a very friendly hotel, the owners took an interest in your day and made helpful suggestions for walks or days out. the food is reasonable and well cooked.

    Power failure in area on the day we stayed Hotel had a generator but this was not working therefore we had to go out to eat in another hotel.Generator should have benn a back up.

    "A nice hotel in a lovely part of Wales. The only downside is the noise from the road, but this was not too bad especially if you live in the south east of England. The food was of a very high standards; both the quality of the ingredients and the preparation. We had an evening meal and the full breakfast and neither could be faulted. The bar served a good selection of bears and wines." (97782408)

    "I would definately stay here again. I have paid much more for a room and got a lot less for my money. We were travelling to Chepstow Races from this Hotel, it was a nice distance and pleasant journey, ideal for what we wanted." (97459400)

    Friendly staff, fantastic food, beautiful views.

    Nothing much really, the decor was dated but this made no difference to our stay

    "We had a lovely time in the Wye Valley and we may well have stayed for a second night if a room had been available,which we didn't ask about.Maybe the proprietors should spend a night in each of the rooms to get an idea of what they are like,and be discerning!Is there a rating system for bed softness?"     The staff were very friendly and helpful.There was a lovely view from our room.The food was excellent and the restaurant had a very pleasant ambience.

    The room was shabby.The curtains were poorly hung.The bed was very firm,and not pleasant.

    The food in the bar was excellent. Home cooked - very rare these days. Not the most modern of hotels but certainly had charater. The staff wwere very accomodating.

    "The hotel and the room were very clean and well serviced. The food served in the evening was of good quality and was value for money, although the breakfast options were limited. They were very welcoming towards our 2 dogs, which made our stay happier as often dogs are 'accepted' rather than welcomed. I would be happy to stay there again." (97350430)

    Very convenient situation, plenty of vehicle parking, comfortable accommodation.

    "We particularly appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, recommending local scenic walks and giving us advice about how to get the best out of Tintern Abbey. The accommodation was further from Tintern Abbey than anticipated but certainly not too far to walk. The hotel furnishings could do with upgrading and the dining room looked rather cluttered. However, our corner room was really pleasant and bright (with three windows) and we really appreciated the personal service. I would say don't be put off by the older furnishings for you will be well looked after here." (97672902)

    We were in a lovely large, bright corner room with a roomy bathroom with shower. The owners were very helpful.

    The furnishings were adequate but could be more modern.

    "the stay at the hotel was very good my only complaint was that we were asked for our credit card details when booking the room and then again when we arrived we were asked to put the details on the back of the registration form , being a victim of card fraud i was not happy with this and i was assured that the information was safe, i think that once over the internet is sufficient" (99391046)

    The room was charming, the bathroom was very adequate, water pressure in the shower was excellent, dinner in the restaurant was excellent; specifically the chicken in saffron sauce and the vegetables.

    Beds were a little hard and woke up sore, one waitress was rather rude in the pub.

    There was no heating in the bathroom and the weather was cold and damp.Also the bathroom definitely needs some upgrading.

    Could not get a dial up internet connection as phone system was digital and no analogue points.
