    "Avery pleasant stay with no real complaints." (108485827)

    Very clean room with more than adequate space. Breakfast, though served in adjoining tearoom was very good in terms of both quality and quantity.

    Not really a bad point, but it would have been nice to have been received on arrival or to have had some contact with staff. However, it did not detract from our stay. Did feel though, that at £70 prpn was abit steep.

    excellent location re ferry service and downtown locations

    registration was confusing - two in same name and clerk did not know which was mine and which was the other. keys in hallway. little orientation to location of guesthouse and surroundings. no paper work involved to make one feel secure that registration (two parties in same name) was not an error.

    Clean and friendly. Lots of thought had been put into making guests comfortable.

    There was no one to answer the door when I arrived, and breakfast was served in a cafe - but neither of these things really bothered me at all - it was just a bit unusual!!

    The guest house was very clean, comfortable and the goodies were better than a lot of hotels of a higher grade. Breakfast was excellent and there was a very good selection. I requested a harbour view and my request was met. I would highly recommend the Thorlee and would be happy to stay there again.

    Clean hall, good breakfast, staff were fairly prompt in handling a mistake, central location.

    When I arrived, there was an envelope with my name on it in the hall past the main door. I took the enclosed key up to my room and found another person's luggage and shoes in it. After a phone call to the owner (there was nobody present at the guest house), it was sorted, and he was very apologetic. However, the following points remain: Nobody to speak to on the premises The room I was transferred to was small and had a very smokey odour It is not ensuite The bathroom lock was broken (I sliced my finger trying to make it work) In general, it is no where near worth the money being charged. It should be going for £20-30 per night, maximum.

    Our ferry arrived late and the key was left for us in the hall

    The breakfast itself was good. However, breakfast was served in a small cafe next door, service was poor, (with one person appearing to do most of the work)

    Spacious, light and airy double aspect bedroom with high ceilings and harbour view. Nicely furnished, flat screen TV. Breakfast in the downstairs public cafe was plentiful and tasty.

    The room aside, the hotel entrance and breakfast cafe felt like an upmarket hostel. There was no reception - the workman working in the hallway directed us to the cafe next door to check in. There were no staff on the premises after 5pm and we were not left details of anyone to contact in case of any problem. Some of the electical work was very dubious. Wires went visibly all around the room, through the wall and into other rooms. There were no 'PAT tested' stickers on any of the electrical items, and one cable came straight in through a hole in the wall and went into the TV. We were fortunate to have very hot weather during our stay, but it was then very noisy with the windows open with cars racing up and down the street beeping their horns and drinkers returning home late at night. One of the large windows had a broken hinge and would not shut - this might be inconvenient to winter guests!

    Staff was nice. Location good. Manager was very nice.

    Room smelled bad. Construction in entrance caused allergic reaction which lasted for days after. Food was horrible.

    The room was clean and at first sight attractive and well laid out.

    The bed was a disaster. I have slept in hotel rooms all over the world and regularly travel and stay away with buisness. This bed was by far the most uncomfortable I have ever slept (or not) slept in. I was told it was new but it was hard and seemed to have a ridge across it at about the level of my chest. My wife also hardly slept all night. The shower looked good but water flow was poor, it took ages to get wet. Your internet site did not say we would be eating in a cafe with plastic table covers attached to the guest house. We did not try the food.

    I regularly use the Thorlee - it's just a good place to be in Stornoway. It's central, has just had a significant makeover, is friendly, always clean and I just love going into the bakery for breakfast.

    There's nothing I would cite as a bad point really. The prices have risen recently but the place has been totally refurbished.

    Locked out on arrival. Not hot water. In the morning there was hot water but the water pressure was the lowest I have ever experienced.

    Very central, and good view from windows. Room clean and tidy and large enough for three.

    The breakfast provided on our first morning was so bad we chose to go without the second day.

    "The photo's on your website are not a true representation. Not a pleasant place to stay in. The guys checked out after the first night as it was that bad. It was dirty, the shared bathroom was in dire need of some work. The sealant round the shower and sink was mouldy and hanging off. The rooms smelt damp.     A clean and comfortable room, with a table and 2 comfortable chairs to sit and relax and view the harbour.We booked a twin room and were given the family room, which was spacious and had en-suite facilities.Amost comfortable bed and tea and coffee making facilitiesas well as a TV ,Video and DVD recorder.

    I can only really think of one slightly negative point to the stay, this was breakfast in the morning which was served in the Cafe next door(it had a door which linked it to the guest house), The cafe was open to the public when we went for our breakfast and may at times get rather busy......but the guest house uests were given very good service and although my comments are in the "bad points"..it was nothing bad at all really.I was aware that not all the rooms were en-suite...maybe that would be something" to do " to make the guest house a bit better.

    Staff friendly.

    Breakfast only available in the shop/cafe with constant comings and goings. No room cleaning service on Sundays. Very noisy toilet. Thin curtains did not block out the street lighting very close to the window. Towels were stained. Other rooms were noisy and kept us awake.
