    "We were comfortable,slept well and were happy with our stay." (108867098)

    Accommodation was adequate and value for money. Staff were polite and efficient. Breakfast was good

    Room decoration was tired and need of updating and renovation. Bad design of boarded window in shower/bath area.

    "The hotel is in a good location, but could do with some improvements to the room. Restaurant was not open Sunday evening and as we had come a long way we had to go into Southend to look for somewhere to dine. Also restaurant was closed on Monday lunchtime, so once again we had to travel for food." (108359184)

    Staff were courteous, check-in and check-out were both conducted swiftly

    Breakfast was overcooked from being left on heat for a long time, eggs were like rubber, bacon was like leather and coffee was not very nice (it appears that instant coffee is order of the day, and not at all drinkable). We booked a smoking room, but on arrival we were advised that all rooms are non-smoking (Smoking rooms are advertised on the website) Carpet was threadbare and there was a leak in the plumbing causing a constant shallow flood in the vicinity of the bidet and lavatory.

    Excellent reception by staff.....very welcoming. Morning breakfast was 1st class

    Bathroom had a small water leak.....tiles on the bath wall were coming adrift, new sealant required around the bath.

    Clean, good service, warm, food good. The rooms are not cramped and there is room to move about!!

    we checked in using one of our abbey cards and they took the full authorization fee and on checking out they took the full amount again thus causing a shortfull in this bank account, as it takes 3 -10 days to be paid back into our account.

    We arrived 1pm,official check-in from 2pm,which I find a bit late.Anyway,was told room not ready,so given another,which was shabby.

    Shabby and poorly furnished room.Bathroom not up to modern standards.Full English Breakfast cooked when asked for,very greasy.Was ill an hour later.

    The male who booked us in was really helpful and accomodating.

    The hotel was very basic and was in the middle of an industrial estate. We were going to have a meal in the restaurant but on inspection no one else was eating and the setting did not look inviting. We had breakfast the following morning and to be honest it was disgusting, very greasy and the eggs were cooked in a pan full of fat. The chef was lazy and it seemed an inconvienience to cook the food.

    The room was clean and tidy, staff were polite. Good parking

    We were expecting a breakfast in the morning which we paid for but did not recieve, the veiw from our window was poor and it was a bit noisy with the planes taking off and landing out the back.

    Staff are very friendly. Car parking no problem

    Room (112)was a family room and three of us booked in yet there were only 2 mugs and coffee / milk etc for only 2 people. It desperately needs a refurb and the net curtains were dirty

    Good Breakfast

    Gave us the room key to an office on arrival. Rooms not made when we first arrived. Maintenance of hotel was poor.

    Adequate car parking, good breakfast, quiet location during the night. However, the location close to an active airfield might bother some people. Staff quite helpfull and well mannered.

    Poor security in the remote buildings: outer doors never locked; room doors did not auto-lock when closed. Sealing around the bath/shower needed replacing/cleaning.

    Badly needed refurbishment.but in view of the price for this area adequate.Very good English breakfast ,Hot and well cooked Evening meals very overpriced decided to go into Southend where there are lots of competative priced good restuarants overall adequate for the price Will stay again

    Price

    No heating in room when arriving at 2200 hours which resulted in the need to change room. All chair cusions in room and restaurant were stained.

    "Not the best hotel in the world but it was convenient for me as I was at a meeting nearby." (107588003)

    I object being asked to sign a no smoking policy. I am not a fool and know the rules and as a non smoker I found it offensive.

    "the good things outweighed the bad & when your only staying for 1 or 2 nights then good staff & good food are much more important than an old bathroom suit!" (97419281)

    staff were both friendly and very effiecient (ordering cabs, giving us local info` etc).Food was also very nice.

    thick cobwebs around the windows, chipped bath enamel and cracked tiles gave a bad impresion, although the rooms were clean.

    Easy to find. Adequate parking.

    Room stank of cigarette smoke. Evidence of smoking by the window in the room, inside and out. The decor was tired and the fittings (taps and lights had parts missing.)Staff seemed uninterested and did not go out of their way to be welcoming.

    Reception very good as were all staff we came into contact with. Room comfortable and clean.

    No glass for teeth cleaning, television not functioning correctly (no teletext) Very poor breakfast service although quality of food very good. Only one member of staff in restaurant and he did his best but could not clear tables and serve guests and keep up with the level coming in for breakfast. Felt sorry for him.

    Few and far between - the staff were pleasant enough though.

    Location - in an industrial estate next to an airport with a strong smell of aircraft fuel Condition of buildings - our room was in what looked like pre-fab block. The decor was awful and the glass doors were broken with weeds growing through them. The bed was old and extremely saggy in the middle which resulted in a really bad night's sleep and one of the pillows was dirty. The general decor in the rest of the hotel was old and tired.

    the whole hotel needed maintenance from the grass needing a long over due cut ,to wholes in the ceilings. It needed a lick of paint to smarten it up also the maids could give lampshades etc a dusting. it looks dated

    Nice hotel

    Poor customer service asked for a txi and was told to wait in the bar and they would come and get us, waited and no one did so the taxi left. This ment a missed the start of a wedding reception. The reception staff did not even apologize.

    Breakfast was Ok

    Room was tatty & grubby, bed was fit for the dump, people in the next room were noisy all night, bathroom needed clean as there were hairs & used toilet roll. Generally very disappointed the hotel has gone downhill since my last stay.

    Excellent location for the events we were attending.

    The room was generally ok, the decoration somewhat dismal and the wallpaper loose in places, the upvc window sill a little loose. Your bar staff alittle slow and your prices quite high for some drinks.

    Moded holiday camp chalets outdated in desperate need of modernisation.Walls needed redecorating, new carpets req'd, bed covers stained & ripped. Windows in bathroom need unboarding, ripped out & holes bricked up.Walls retiled & mould cleaned away.i.e properly refurbished bathroom. Taps that don't stick. Toilet seat that stays in place. Walls & doors between rooms soundproofed so that normal conversation isn't heard word for word by all residents, as well as normal night time activities or unnormal ones too.

    room nice tidy and food was good. service staff was ok! nice manaer! carpart is good.

    need new carpet. painting walls need change of colour. must have staff always avaiable in reception always. car park need to have a cctv camera in case car get stolen or break in can catch the face look like!
