    The staff in the dining room worked really hard

    The Goldthorne use to be one of the best hotels in Wolverhampton! However, standards have dropped and you can't blame that on the hotel in the mists of being refurbished. The room lacked basic cleaning - windows in the bathroom and bedroom were covered in black mould and the frames were filthy. The carpet inside the bedroom door was wet. The carpet was damp and sticky, I couldn't walk on the carpet bear footed. The light bulb had gone in one of the side lamps. The socket by the desk was broken so I had to send for an extension cable so I could plug in my laptop. There wasn’t a list of telephone extension numbers for the hotel. The mugs on the tea tray in the room had tea stains inside them. The bedside cupboard had tea stains on it. The Wolverhampton Information booklet was sticky with jam or something on it. The furniture in the room has seen better days. There was old tv's dumped in the entrance to the Business Centre where our room was and laundry bags stuffed in the sideboard also in the entrance. The reception area of the hotel is in need of refurbishment and the staff need to have some kind of corporate image. The hotel doesn't have a star rating which isn't good although in the past I was told it was 3 star. The £5 breakfast was adequate, however, the fried eggs were swimming in grease and there wasn't a choice of poached. The sausages looked deep fried. Not good if you’re on a diet. The exterior of the premises was in need of cleaning up. There was a water leak in the dining room with a plastic contained collecting the drips. The whole building is in need of some T.l.C. Last but not least, I got a puncture on the car park.

    Hotel was having refurbishment but still functioned well.

    Young waiter in dinning room was not very attentive but otherwise service was good.

    Staff were very friendly and helpful.

    Room very tired looking, curtains were ripped. There were cob webs and dust everywhere.

    Good price, good location,generally above average for price therefore good value.

    Expensive dinner for quality of food. This visit not as comfortable as previous visits due to renovation work in progress.

    Good sized room, had everything we needed for 1-night stay. Very quiet, clean, fresh towels. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.

    Room a bit tired in need of update. Toilet very old and noisy, shower not great. TV in room very old and poor reception.

    Cheapness of stay reflects the accommadation quality. Efficent reception staff.

    Dated and Dingy rooms(desperatly needs refurbishing) with tatty bathroom facilities, room had broken window catch with poor ventilation.Bedroom chairs dirty.

    Had the pool/sauna all to myself. Staff were only too pleased to help (for example, at general stupidity about opening door to said pool/sauna).

    Had to go outside (through rain, possibly) to get to pool. No rooms available for smokers in party.

    Excellent attentive and helpful staff. Beautiful food. Use of swimming pool Superb value for money Security of room - front door key, code lock on corridor and swipe card room key.

    No big deal but you did ask: Room in businees centre (no.90)gloomy because of curtain hangings and thickness of tree foliage outside window. TV badly tuned Noisy radiator in bathroom These issues were a minor thing and did not particularly affect enjoyment of stay.

    Excellent Staff. Friendly and eager to please, particularly the restraurant staff and manager. this is not surprising as we consider this Hotel an excellent place to stay, because it is central to our needs. We stay here each time we visit the area, which is approximately 3/4 times a year.

    Bathroom Extractor Fan did not work, this is something that we noticed before in the same room. Toilet seat broken at the back. Cleaning/Supervisory staff do not appear to check/notice this. The introduction of Skimmed Milk for Room beverages was bad policy,(i'm assuming this is due to the recession.)

    The food was excellent and the children also had large portions. The service was also very good. We also had a four poster bed.

    The swimming pool and steam room were out of use. The internet charges seemed high.

    Checkin was easy and the desk assistant was very helpful.

    We experienced problems with the toilet and the cold water in the bathroom. We complained about this and were moved into a twin room in the business centre as this was the only room available. We felt that this was below the standard of room that we had paid for and the business centre was of a generally poor standard (especially regarding the cleanliness). Also when we were moved rooms we were advised that someone would meet us at the new room to grant us access and provide a new key. This did not happen and we were left sitting outside the new room with all our baggage. No help was offered to move our bags even though the fault was down to poor facilities. Also on the evening of saturday 11th April upon returning to the hotel the key to the new room did not work and this took some time to resolve.

    The staff were very warm and welcoming and the service we received was both friendly and professional. The food we received was delicious and the menu choice was so tempting, we wanted to choose everything!!

    pool and sauna was an added bonus. Coffee making facilities were welcomed.

    Not a nice smell to non-smoking bedroom, smelled like it used to be a smokers bedroom. I bought some air freshner for the room. The shower curtains looked nasty. The bath was chipped. Could here the other guests at night when I was trying to sleep. Creeky floorboards also disturbed my sleep.
