    Although we were only there overnight we were impressed. Fine large room well equipped very good food, dinner and breakfast, wonderful heated outside pool and helpful staff

    Fantastic sea views

    Were unable to specify twin room at booking stage, room was mad up as double on arrival, so we had to be moved. No problem but should be able to request.

    Restaurant - excellent Location - couldn't be more central

    Rooms need updating and refurbishing especially the bathrooms which were appalling.

    Use of beauty salon; wife booked in for treatment and was very impressed with the salon and therapist. Lovely sea views and close to, beach, shops and restaurants.

    the room was large and airy and clean

    poor choice on menus for dinner for a four star hotel, the desert menu was the SAME for the three nights we were there. Limited choice at breakfast compared to other four star hotels

    Excellent staff. Always book through Active hotels who are great at ensuring all special requests are stated.

    The views were spectacular, swimming pools very good. 2 very helpful members of staff.

    Bad service at reception, (with the exception of 1 lady on phones). Room was tatty. (Peeling paint, all furniture in poor condition. Glass on tables tops chipped and dangerously sharp. Broken bottles and glasses left on the dinning terraces and within grounds. Not up to 4 star standard. The view from room was 4 star but the room itself was not up to standard.

    The last room that we were in was excellent. The restaurant was good as well as the staff in the restaurant

    For the first room we were in I can just say that the was bed the most horrible bed I ever had. The bar staff is not very efficient.

    decor of hotel good internally.....staff smart and presentable

    The rooms are spacious and very clean, very comfortable

    when ordering breakfast to room their was no table,waitress had to put trays on floor or chairs, would be nice for a table to sit round for breakfast in room.

    "All the process starting from requesting on-line reservation through the stay in the hotel until checking-out has been very smooth without any problems. As a customer, I felt to be dominant and the staff of the hotel non-visible but absolutely helpful when needed and requested.     Lovely outside pool and in an ideal location for access to the beach and town centre.

    "The meal we had on Sunday evening would rank as one of the worst that we have encountered in a long time. The fish we were served was dry, cold and very poor. We did not complain as we ate all the food. Breakfast on the Monday was a complete farce. We arrived in the restaurant at 08.15am and ordered the Smoked Haddock withg poached eggs. Because my wife is dairy intolerant we requested that the food be poached in water and not milk. After 25 minutes we were presented with haddock fillets (not smoked) and fried eggs. After the previous nights dissapointment we returned this incorrect dish to the kitchen. We then waited a further 30 minutes for the correct dish to be served. On its arrival the fish was OK but the eggs were virtually uncooked. Whilst we would return to the Hotel and reccommend it to others we could not expect any of our aquaintences to eat in your establishment." (3304899861)

    "If you want great sea views and a clean room then the Carlton Menzies is the perfect choice with great surroundings and good facilities on offer. Right near the center of the town however far enough away to be able to enjoy your stay in pleasant surroundings." (3304769923)

    The accomodation was very good with clean rooms and great views.

    Thought that the shower could of been more up to date and better strength.

    "On a wet day the indoor facilities were important for the enjoyment of our stay. All the staff were attentive. It was a shame that some of the dishes from the menu were unavailable and that our creme caramel dessert was stoggy and more akin to a cheese cake, very disappointing from a restaurant of a 4 star hotel."     Dispite the awful weather, the view was stunning :-) and the room was pleasant.

    Excellent food, large room with up to date fixtures & fittings and a great location.

    Overnight heavy rain leaked into the wardrobe & we were lucky not to have our clothes ruined. The reaction of the staff was mixed with a superb room supervisor on the case staright away but a young guy on the front desk was disinterested and completely unhelpful. We had noisy neighbours above us which was exaserbatted but a roomful of very squeaky floorboards!

    "This hotel is very comfortable with an old fahioned charm and would make a very good summer short break destination. Indoor and outdoor pools with sun terraces would be well used in the summer months. It is well suited for a stroll into the centre of Bournemouth but those of a more mature age or those not fully fit should remember that it is quite a steep climb back up the hill to the hotel. Try if possible to get a room with a sea view this will cost extra but makes for a more rewarding stay." (3304623336)

    Clean and comfortable with friendly attentative staff with an old fashioned manner.

    Extras such as drinks at the bar and breakfast was expensive. The bar had a limited food menu and food service was a bit slow.

    "We really liked the hotel in general, it was very well kept and the fact it has indoor leisure facilities is great because you can never guarentee good weather in England! I really enjoyed the use of the sauna, jacuzzi and pool but thought the pool could have done with a bit more of a clean although it wasn't really mucky. Overall this was a very lovely hotel and was close to both the seafront and Bournemouth town centre. If you fancy treating yourself to a fantastic meal I highly recommend the hotel restaurant, it is extremely good food with fantastic silver service and is well worth the money, just remember to bring smart clothes with you as you will be required to dress up for dinner at the hotel restaurant."     The staff were extremely attentive, helpful and friendly!

    Unfortunately we didn't manage to get a room overlooking the bay but that was probably due to our last minute booking and although our room overlooked a road it was not at all noisy as the hotel is set quite far back from the road anyway.

    "Overall I would recommend the Menzies Carlton to business associates/friends heading for Bournemouth. I was very pleased by the graciousness of the staff, in particular. The food in the restaurant was very nice.The room was quite comfortable and pleasant as well. Great view. I realize the limitations of room size might require narrower beds, but in a hotel such as this I expect a bit more, and possibly higher quality (thread count) sheets." (3304331510)

    The view from room, the staff, lovely restaurant, hotel easy to find.

    Beds were narrow; shower angle was awkward. Room service could have been quicker. Sheets were not terribly soft.

    Once we changed room it was fine. The first room was very overheaated and there was no facility to change this We could not open the window because of security. we were on the ground floor.

    just the right distance to get into the town centre a great walk on a dry day 15 mins max

    the leisure area was the only part that we felt needed some attention looked as if it was in need of a face lift .

    Spacious,spotless,superb bathroom,beds really comfortable,six pillows!!!!!The restaurant was a fantastic experience,with friendly and polite staff,and food to die for.

    Nothing really but i could have done with a wet shaver in the bathroom supplies ,as i forgot mine.

    Unfortunately Room 324 had inadequate heating. The radiators were only luke warm and the bathroom one was cold even turned to max. Your staff did bring an extra heater which did heat the room eventually. The window let in quite a bad draught and the wardrobe was extremely cold for some reason. This did detract from an otherwise enjoyable stay despite the fire alarm!

    All communal areas were well presented and welcoming. The bedroom could have been lighter with lighter coloured furniture and brigter lighting.

    The Hotel had a very warm and comfortable feel about it. The Food was excellent and the service was good too.

    The arrangements for the parking, was a little uclear.
