Generally the service was ok, staff were helpful and hotel condition good.
Room was very small and cramped. Heating did not work and so I was cold for most of the night.

Great breakfast.

Nice reception and nice rooms.
The telephone of the room wasn't ringing. I phoned the receptionist and said that she will send someone to see it. No one ever came to our room so we had to make two emergency calls to malta. We were charged £35 for 2 telephone calls to malta which lasted 2mins and 1min.

The hotel had an impressive interior and was clean and well decorated. It was very central and it was easy to find. It was very convenient to be able to park behind the hotel in a reasonably secure location. There was a good menu choice at breakfast and the staff were very pleasant and efficient.
We had a Superbreak Voucher which we wanted to use to book the hotel. We found the hotel via the Superbreak Website and assumed that this would enable us to use the voucher. We put this in the "requests" section of the booking form but the pre-printed response was unclear. We telephoned and asked if we could use the voucher, and made the same query at the time of booking in, on both occasions we were told we could use the voucher. It was not until we were settling our bill that we were informed that the voucher could only be used if we had booked via the Superbreak website, as they then invoiced the hotel. We found the process difficult to follow. However, having learned from the experience we have now booked another hotel, via Superbreak, using the process which your hotel manager advised us to follow. He was sympathetic to the misunderstanding, and to the fact that none of the hotel staff had advised us we needed to pre-book with Superbreak to use the voucher. Although we did not eat at the hotel on the Saturday evening, we though the menu was rather expensive. As the temperature was below zero and the heating was not on during the day, our room was very cold, although it was nice and warm when the radiators came on. However, the bathroom did not have any form of heating and was rather chilly all of the time.

Noisy doors need dampers to stop them slamming. Hotel much too warm - little control over room temperature either.

Well placed hotel ... right in the city centre, i could just walk out of my room and i'm in the heart of the city. I arrived by car, and the park fees were very very cheap £5 for 4 nights. Having just paid £30 parking fees for a 2 night stay in Leeds this was i real plus. If i'd arrived my train then it was only a short walk from the station.
Twice i had no hot water in the morning - the first time i made a phone call to the staff and the matter was fixed in minutes. The second time i just made a coffee and waited a few minutes and everything was OK. I figured that i'd not be the only one making calls about no hot water.

"For an accommodation of this price we did expect a better class restaurant with quality food being served for the price as the food was not fresh in our opinion which was a great let down. We felt sorry for some of staff working in the hotel. The barman was not behind the bar and we often had to wait a long time to be served due to no one being available even when they staff near by went looking. There was quite a few people waiting to be served and once served the barman would disappear stating that he was covering for other staff as someone had quit their job earlier, he mentioned that he had been a waiter in the restaurant and room service, he was not present when we were eating in the restaurant and there were only 4 tables with people seated and 1 waiter. This is the worst food and bar service we have seen." (99715789)
Accommodation was fine, pleasant deco and good location.
The food in restaraunt was very disappointing considering the price, we excpected to be served fresh food and not forzen food and the steaks were overcooked not medium or rare as ordered they were well done.

Staff are friendly and helpful and the room was clean.
I belive the heating may be on a timing as some parts of the day the room was cold.

Bar was closed before 11pm and a night porter service was provided. This service was atrocious and the member of staff could not cope with the demand.

"Previous reviews have critcised lack of air con., occasional noisy wedding parties and refridgeration units. However, if you can cope with these possible irritations then a wonderful 'old' hotel awaits. The facilities and decor have been upgraded and everything you could want is on your 'doorstep'. New and trendy hotels are very good but staying at The Grand (Ramada) is something special." (97335046)

"I thought it very power that we were placed in a room so near to the disco. We were not informed that there was a disco there and were told when checking out that they usually allocated those rooms to guests attending the function. It is a great shame that we were no informed of this. The room was adequate apart from the fact that the w.c. did not flush properly, I regard that as a major fault and see no excuse fior letting the room until that fault was corrected." (99264082)
Room quite comfortable
Placed in a room that bordered an atrium on the ground floor of which a disco blared until 1.00a.m. Windows didn't close, secondary double glazing didn't close.

no hot water runs hot and cold key card failed to work at 3am waited an hour after going to the reception 3 times to hav it drilled all that just to go to sleep and then pay for it aswell unbelievable!!

"The hotel was adequate and service was generally professional. However, for the price, the hotel was perhaps rather faded. The decor and furnishings appeared in need of renovation. On the other hand, as a cultural experience, staying at the hotel added to the mood of staying in a fairly large Midlands city. I especially liked running into the local chamber of commerce's annual shin-dig (or whatever was going on in the lobby) and noting that the Leicester Magic Circle is headquartered at the hotel." Location
The fact that, despite having my credit card swiped on check-in, I was required to accompany the waiter down to the bar at night to pay for room service. Having just landed in the UK, I had not had time to withdraw cash.

"The fact that we had 2 twin rooms but were given 2 doubles was most unsatisfactory. On complaining to reception we were only offered a triple and a double. We arrived at 12.15 and were told we couldn't check in until 2pm. It was unacceptable for 4 adult males to be given 2 double rooms when we had specifically requested and booked 2 twin rooms 3 months previously. We found the attitude of reception staff unhelpful and disinterested retorting that all the twin rooms were gone. The rooms we were given after complaining were sub standard room and meant that three of us had to share a small room. Overall the hotel looked tired and there was a very musty smell in the club bar in the basement." (3305251120)

Nice bathroom very spacious nice shower and bath refurbished excellent breakfast
cobwebs in bland bedroom not refurbished and we were placed next to a young rugby squad? who were up late and bragging loudly about their exploits and gym routines which we heard through our connecting door after midnight very late one lad like a duracell rabbit. i had to complain to reception well after midnight and bang on the connecting door as reception seemed not to do anything.
