    The jug of frsh milk offered upon arrival was a nice touch - would have been nicer if the jug had a lid and was replaced with fresh milk the next day too

    too numerous to list - i will be making a formal complaint to the hotel +/- copying to the hotel group if it goes unanswered but mainly: Awful food and fairly apathetic staff (the majority of whom were 'in-training')

    The refurbishment is finished and the designer rooms are comfortable and quiet albeit a little small for a 4-star hotel. Restaurant good if you like nouvelle cuisine. Liked the little pool & gym. Nice for an overnight stay for a single person but after 3 days the bad points became more annoying.

    No shelves/ledges in bathroom, so toiletries have to go on the floor or be left in the main room. Not much storage space in rooms either. No stand for suitcase so you have to keep lifting it onto the bed to open it. Not ideal for a couple sharing the room for several nights. Restaurants' nouvelle cuisine is a really delicious sampler but insubstantial after a days work, preferred the 'comfort food' menu in the bar.

    "have to come to the area 8-10 times a year to visit sick relatives & was looking for a cheapish, goodish hotel. won't be using the landmark. in the words of julia roberts in pretty woman....."BIG MISTAKE"" (108909393)

    the reception staff were good & seemed to be handling the complaints well ! one of the staff was very helpful over car parking

    we arrived quite late so didnt notice just one set of towels. we got by in the morning & expected the house keeping to notice both beds had been slept in & that we would need 2 sets. getting back to the room at 6pm & finding just one set we rang down to reception to get another set sent up. we went out & returned at 10pm-still no towels so we stole them from the housekkeping trolley that had been left in the corridor (with a bag full of dirty linen...nice if you were the rOom opposite!).the hotel was ok- a travel lodge with a gym but feel that the "executive twin" a waste of money, apparently the standard is smaller??!!. the housekeeping staff were the weakest link for sure, not acknowledging me, no "good mornings", talking to their loved ones on mobiles in the corridors, not saying thankyou when i held the door open for them etc etc.

    The hotel overall was very good

    Bar staff (young lads)did not know what drinks to serve. We watcheed the tennis & wanted a jug of pimms after about 20 mins we actually got our drinks. also on our last night there were 2 coaches in the hotel & we could only book in for dinner at 9pm, it would have been good for somebody to let us know about booking a table, as we had eaten in the restaurant 2 nights before both at 7pm. 9pm was to late for us but if we wanted to eat that was the only time we could get in.

    Were not informed when booking was that the SPA was not fully operational which was disappointing, but did not spoil our weekend

    Rooms , decor, food and leisure facilities were second to none. Great swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Flat screen tv, coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board in room. NO SAFE THOUGH!!!!

    On arrival, the receptionist who booked us in kept answering the phone and seemed incredibly flustered and stressed. What should have taken a few minutes, turned into 15 minutes!!! Breakfast was good, although service was very slow. One had to leave one's table to find waiting staff to order coffee etc. Overall though, a hotel with potential!!

    The staff were very friendly nothing was a problem the best service we have received in a long time. The rooms were lovely and nicely decorated. The food was very good.

    The rooms were a bit dark and some of the lights didn't work. There was never any english tea in the room but when we phoned housekeeping to get some sent down it wasn't a problem and was brought to the room very quickly. When booking on the internet the systems were down as well as the phonelines but someone did phone back the next day and was very helpful and friendly.

    Excellent food.Convenient location.Clean rooms.

    At the time of stay the hotel was in the midst of renovation.the bedroom was shabby and the hot water tap didn't work.I was woken from a deep sleep to move our car(which I did) only to look out in the early morning to see another car in the same place!

    Clean and tidy

    Not what i expected from an advertised 4 start hotel, the rooms were very basic and to warm, The decoration in both the rooms and especially the Hall was very disapointing. I know the hotel is under renovation and i hope that the room i stayed in has not yet been renovated.

    Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed.

    Room very hot. I switched the radiator off as I arrived an dthe room was still too warm when I left the next morning - despite low temeratures outside. Shower control did not work.

    We were charged twice for the 2 rooms we booked! Plus, there was a problem at breakfast as there was not enough items ready at the same time and people had to wait quite a while.

    Check in very welcoming and quick. Room very good, nice and warm, good facilities. Bar food enjoyable. Unfortunately didn't have time to use the swimming pool and gym, but checked for future stay. Porridge at breakfast on request - always a good point. Clear signposting from the roundabout on approach was good - it's always difficult coming to a strange venue in the dark, no problems here.

    Parking was difficult and I think I must have got the last space.

    a very warm welcome by the receptionist and staff overall very pleasant

    a lot of work being done in updating the rooms near us which we were unaware of it was not a problem as we were only staying one night but could have been if we were staying longer.

    Inability of Hotel to produce an invoice at end of stay due to lack of Opera PC system.Hotel assured us no credit card details held but account was debited before we had confirmed amount - worrying when originally they had indicated

    "It is a long time since I last stayed in a Swallow hotel. At the time, Swallow hotels were of a very high standard. If my recent stay is typical of Swallow hotels now, I will not be looking to stay in one again. The whole hotel seemed very tired and my room in particular seems long overdue for redecoration."     "RELAXING FEEL TO THE HOTEL BUT WE WERE UNABLE TO BOOK AN EARLY EVENING MEAL AS FULLY BOOKED TILL 9PM WHICH WAS DISAPPOINTING. THE BAR STAFF WERE SLOW/STRESSED AND IT TOOK AGES TO ORDER ANYTHING AND THE HOTEL DOES NOT SELL CRISPS/NUTS WHICH IS A BIT ODD! BREAKFAST STAFF WERE UNORGANIZED AND AGAIN IT TOOK AGES FOR THEM TO BRING COFFEE/TEA AND TOAST WHEN REQUESTED, THAT SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY BE SERVED BY WHO SHOWS YOU TO YOUR TABLE, STAFF SEEMED TO JUMP FROM TABLE TO TABLE NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY WERE DOING."     The Hotel did have a relaxing feel to it.

    "We enjoyed our stay, it was easy to find. Breakfast was tasty and staff attentive. Never knew towels would be unlimited for swimming and leisure club or i wouldn't have packed our own. New mattress would be a good investment though!" (97888526)

    The staff were friendly and explained where everything was, times for breakfast, leisure club opening etc.

    The bed was very uncomfortable and neither of us got much sleep. Also the radiator made noises even although i had turned it off?

    excellent facilities

    just a small note regarding the numberous ceramic tiles missing from the pool and spa area, that could lead to a nasty accident if left unchecked and repaired for too long ect.

    Needs redecorating as do corridors etc. bath was a chipped which didn't make it inviting.

    Warm, well furnished room. Lovely location with glorious gardens, plenty of parking. Excellent restaurant. Quiet rural location away from noise.

    Everything was fine and in good working order.

    "After the first night of staying in my original room and finding out about twin beds being pushed together the staff did change my room for me. That bed was much more comfortable but I had to repack everything, transfer it all to another room, then unpack again. The second room I was put in had a leak in the bathroom ceiling that constantly dripped making it difficult to store anything on the bathroom ledge. I paid close to $1000 US dollars and was very disappointed with what I got. All the staff was very friendly though." (97526751)

    The outside and pictures looked very nice and the staff was friendly.

    Booked a double room and it was just 2 twin beds pushed together making a gap where they joined and very uncomfortable.

    Room 229 - noisy radiator - when on, it made a constant noise, almost a ticking sound, usually associated with metal warming up but it was there all the time

    the room was in a poor state for a hotel of standing paper coming off walls taps not working properly and on entry the room had a smokers smell to it
