    Some of the lights bulbs had gone, and metal stairs to room dangerous if wet, but weekend was dry.

    The hotel was choosen due to being close to relatives. Full bathroom facilities ie bath. Clean bedding and good size room. Beautiful golf course.

    Dated furnishings.

    The restaurant was excellent

    Booked online two nights at £70. On arrival told that the price was £40 per night. "their system did not do £37.50" !!! Told I was in Room 18 with a view of the golf course . . . true, through a dormer window in the bathroom! Bedroom had two dormer windows in a sloping roof neither of which had blackout covers . . so I was woken up by the overhead sun at 5.30am having gone to bed at midnight. Disaster. My meeting in Chester was at noon . . I drove to an underground carpark and slept in the car so that I was fresh for my meeting. None of the three skylight windows in the room has adequate blinds. The Bathroom and front door window had no cover at all. There were no windows in the walls. There were two televisions in the room (one broken and parked adjacent to the front door on a table (= fire hazard) The other TV was not tuned in and could only be plugged in near the bed, The aerial point was in the opposite wall so it was an extremely dangerous arrangement. Bins were no emptied overnight nor were the bathroom supplies or coffee etc replaced overnight. I left the next morning at 5.30 am because it was impossible to sleep with two east-facing dormer windows that simply allowed the sun to light up the room. I explained all this as I went to check out the previous evening. The clerk was sympathetic but spent 25 minutes wrestling with a computer to complete my checkout. I had to return to my room and produce my copy of my online booking form because he was about to charge me at least £40 per night.

    The staff, in the main, were friendly enough.

    The whole place needs money spending on it. The heating system was faulty and they weren't prepared to spend money on getting the plumber out straight away, so our room was freezing. The place was grubby, the bath was dirty, taps ran, sinks were cracked. Breakfast was "take it or leave it" - Continental Breakfast should not be a box of mini cereal and an old yoghurt. Coffee was packets of instant nescafe, tea was a tea bag in a cup. This is what I would expect from a one star b&b, not this hotel

    When I checked in some of the equipment was missing from the room and so I was put in another room.This room and everything in it was dirty. Of the 2 cups one was chipped and one dirty, the one saucer had to do for both. I checked the bedding and towels and they were acceptable and so after a long journey deceided to stay. In the morning I complained to the receptionist who although thought I would be entitled to a refund could not autherise this. He said he would get the manager to email me and he would possibly deduct the cost from my credit card. As yet I have heard nothing.

    Active Hotels let themselves down by forgetting to let the hotel know about our booking.They had 2 weeks notice.

    The hotel was very friendly and well looked after. The staff were exceptionally helpful as i lost my purse during the stay. They were very understanding of the situation and tried to help me by calling the locations i had visited throughout that day. The breakfast that i did have was very nice and the restaurant was very well presented although i only ate breakfast so i am unable to comment on the evening meal.

    The beds were very uncomfortable and the room pretty basic. I thought the hotel over priced for what it was. Also the fact that breakfast was an additional charge was more than dissapointing.

    Food, friendlyness of staff, Surroundings (golf), easy to find, late bar, friendly / comfortable atmosphere.

    The staff and service were very good and the quality of food was excellent with a wide variety of choice.

    Decor of the room, the wall paper was peeling and paintwork looked very tired and marked, facilities and access for disabled very restricted.

    Spoke to the guys that stayed, and they said it was better than the holiday inn they stayed in, and also said the food was excellent and good value. Also commented on how nice the staff were.

    having a disabled daughter it is important to have space to be able to tend to here, and there is plenty in the rooms i have stayed in .

    there was nothing i disliked about my stay, except the weather could have been a bit brighter, but sadly you carn't control that, but everything else was just perfect .

    difficult as we were at a party .The dining room for breakfast was 1st class and the best hotel breakfast in a long while .we may not stop there again as we are quite local but we will use the Thai restaurant .

    "The hotel is great if you need to be local but I would not recommend it. We frequently had to find the staff in order to be checked-in, out, or to answer questions. Whilst the rooms are OK, they are not fantastic by any stretch of the imagination. Breakfast the next day was a nightmare as the staff were too busy to serve us, which they politely told us. The hotel is in need of updating and modernising. I have stayed here 3 times now as 'it will do', but this was the last time. We will now stay further up the road in Northop and get a cab into Flint!" (97789472)

    Nice spacious room - kids loved the split level room.

    Rooms are very 'tired' looking. The curtain rail was off the wall, the jacuzzi didn't drain and there was a spoon being used to turn the radiator up and down.

    "The hotel is a little out of town and can be reached by walking. Though there is a taxi firm just outside the train station. Both times i have stayed i have gone to the bar. Both times they had sport on the big screen. I must admit not a sports fan but there was no where else that i could sit so had to listen to the game. The staff were helpful, booking in and out was not a problem. The hotel has the fact that it is very centrel to all the areas around ie Rhyl and Prestyn. The cost of trains makes it a great choice."     found the quietness was really what i needed. The food over the bar was really well presented and of good quality. The staff seem to be very friendly. Though i had a problem the desk staff helped me straight a way. Finding me another room.

    The first room i was given had the front bath panel hanging off. Though the room was clean there was areas where there was piles of dust. I nearly burnt myself on the hot water tap as it was extremely hot. The windows in the ceiling could only be opened by standing on a bed, not really safe thing to do.
