    Pleasant staff, efficient, quick check in/out. Food of good quality .

    Bathroom was fine,room was clean though looking a little dated (room 68) Water in the shower was only Luke warm on sunday morning,(despite dialing the valve to 50'c)

    Breakfast is good. The bathroom had been partially refurbished and the shower was very efficient.

    The hotel has developed a generally tired appearance in some areas. Threadbare carpets and aged furnishings in the rooms. The trouser press did not work. The radio did not work.

    Made to feel very welcome by staff. Asked for extra pillows which were delivered promptly.

    A little short staffed in the breakfast room. Had to wait for glassses for juice and milk for cereal.

    Pleasent staff. Good parking. Interesting main part to the hotel.

    Had to change rooms, the first had no opening window, no air conditioning and seemes like it hadn't, been used for a reasonable time so the air inside was terrible. Moved me to another room which had opening windows. Room is 'dated, and could have been cleaner.

    Newly fitted bathroom facilities were clean and well presented gilchrist and soames shampoo and shower gel a bonus. bedroom clean light and airy, although would have liked a trouser press.

    Breakfast eggs slightly over cooked and mushrooms and tomotoes a bit watery, nothing major i was not expecting a gastro breakfast, alternatives to full english a little limited.

    Lovely hotel & grounds and less expensive than the "chain" hotels. Although in the area on business, we enjoyed the experience so much we made excuses to stay over for another night. Personaly, I prefered the rooms in the original part of this lovely country house (more character) but my colleagues liked the more modern rooms in the rear extension.

    Buffet type breakfast at extra £12.50 is expensive, they should look at this. Lunch & bar meals are very reasonable.

    NICE SETTING....STAFF VERY HELPFUL

    RESTURANT UNDERSTAFFED, THE POOR GIRL WAS RUNNING OFF HER FEET TRYING TO COPE WITH SO MANY CUSTOMERS, THEREFORE THE WAIT FOR COURSES WAS TOO LONG. THE SAME WAS SAID FOR THE SERVICE AT BREAKFAST.

    Clean sheets. Nice setting

    Mould on breakfast toast. Room very hot and themostats on radiators did not work so had to sleep with window open.Shower in one room would only produce scolding water.

    we enjoyed our stay at the hotel, and will certenly stay there in future when we visit our relations again.

    The only small problem we had with our room was that the window needs a new closing handle to stop the wind blowing through the slight opening,(the night we stayed with you it was very windy).

    "Spoilt by coldness of room. Staff friendly but I feel we should have been offered a change of room immediately without the messing about with heaters. We usually work Sundays so last Sunday was our only day off until Easter and was spoilt by early waking and having to get up to put the heater on. Would stay again in Summer!" (107448391)

    Nice location ;helpful staff ;large room

    Room extremely cold. Reported this on check in (5pm) but still cold on return at 11pm. A heater had been provided but only worked for 10 mins. Reception brought another but said not to leave it on all night and said radiator dial faulty. Woken by cold 6am - breath misting in the air - and had to put heater on - daughter has asthma and affected her chest. Told reception on checkout who apologised.

    "All in all a very disappointing stay. We have stayed recently at The Black Swan in Helmsley and the Penventon Park Hotel in Redruth and much could be learned from them and their style. " (97216225)

    The hotel building is fantastic, as are the grounds. James, the Duty Manager, dealt with us very well during the Saturday evening when we complained about the wine. Dinner was good on Saturday evening.

    Staff were generally not interested in us as their guests - they were just about polite, but certainly not friendly. Our room smelled dreadfully of paint and we had difficulty dealing with it at night-time. We ordered a bottle of Veuve Cliquot on Saturday afternoon - it was delivered straight from a shelf, not having been chilled - and it was the last of that type! We eventually drank some champagne 1.25 hours later! That evening, at dinner, the white wine was yet again served warm. By the time another bottle (chardonnay rather than pinot grigio) was delivered, we had almost finished our meal. Breakfast was pretty poor - everything we ate, on both mornings, was barely warm and the service was chaotic to say the least. There seemed to be a general air of too few staff - especially at the bar and in the breakfast room. The TV in the bar/lounge was a total unwanted distraction and there was nowhere else for us to go to have a quiet time - one of the receptionists suggested the conference area which was "cold and uninviting". We were shocked that there were no newspapers for guests to read.

    Lovely character about the hotel. Good mix of old and new styling. Good food

    The Stables Rooms are VERY noisy. Early morning deliveries start at 7am and staff walk across the gravel under the bedroom windows instead of round the pathas. Wireless internet signal is also weak in these rooms

    "I would stay at this hotel again as it was very good value.A beautiful old building in a quiet location with friendly helpful staff.I made use of the complimentry ironing facility which I was impressed by.Our room was very quiet and we did'nt hear any noise from other rooms so had 2 good nights sleep whilst there.The hotel was clean but our room could've done with being refurbished.The TV reception was bad (with no Satelite TV)in our room,being only a couple of minor dissapointments but we couldn't grumble for the price we paid (2 weekend nights for a double room including full breakfast & free ironing £98 altogether for the stay)."     "A very pleasant comfortable hotel which, from our brief stay, can accomodate a major event (i.e. wedding) without disturbing ordinary guests. Also courteous and considerate staff. For example, my wife arrived obviously in discomfort from an injured arm. When we checked out the following morning the receptionist had remembered and kindly enquired how she was feeling.     "Good wireless access to the internet was not clearly marked but is a definite positive. Couldn't find my booking as I have a double barreled surname and the first part had been lost somewhere in the booking process - Note to web designers a - character in a name is not an illegal character! Friendly staff, though the receptionist was on her own, answering calls for prospective guests whilst actual guests waited. Decor, the interior designer should be shot, the horrible modern bar does not fit the building, neither do the drapes, furniture, wallpaper or terrible lighting boxes on the ceiling of the dining room. Room was acceptable but tired, the one piece sinks in the bathroom look fine in a Mal Maison not in a country house hotel and always throw water all over you the first time you turn the tap on because they are too shallow! Overall I enjoyed my stay, the staff were helpful and dealt with my requests quickly, the hotel's prices were acceptable and it could be a beautiful location and quite a stunning hotel." (97832949)

    Location, Location, Location.

    This once superb hotel has declined dramatically under present ownership. It is becoming increasingly delpidated while pricey. In one of the rooms the shower was scalding hot and could not be adjusted... etc.etc. etc.

    "I regret not having asked for a room on the ground floor but thought that a hotel of this standard would have been disabled-friendly. Unfortunately it wasn't. Even the second flight of stairs only has a bannister rail on one side, which in my case meant I had to pull myself up in a rather undignified fashion. The state of the window sills in our room suggested that redecoration of the outside was long overdue. I gather the hotel has recently changed hands, so I am prepared to give it a second chance -but certainly will not bother with the breakfast, having had better Full English breakfasts in hotels from Shanghai to Accra, via Dubai and Mumbai."     lack of a lift (I'm disabled and our room as originally booked was on the second floor) and an apology for a cooked breakfast, which was certainly not value for money.

    the size of our room was excellent.the bathroom was very clean and bright.

    the double bed was a bit too lumpy and the pillows were too thick.there was a very large opening in the window which showed that the actual window had dropped.we could not close it at all and found it very drafty during the night.
