    Good location in centre of pleasant market town. Friendly staff. Good food and bar.

    Shower mixer poor temperature control. Some noise from adjacent room and guests.

    Room over wedding party of which we were not part of, music was so loud had to complain was not able to hear tv let alone sleep. Asked if we could check out that night and not be charged and was told no! We were supposed to stay 2 nights but cancelled the 2nd night. We asked to move rooms but hotel was full perhaps when we checked in they could of asked if we were part of the wedding party but didn't.

    clean room in a well presented traditional hotel.

    VERY hot in the room, was height of summer though. maybe a fan available for very warm times

    Staff were welcoming and efficient. Room good value for money and view over square Restaurant not yet open after refurb, but bar meals were good and wine very reasonable. Singer in the bar on Sat eve was excellent - really enjoyable.

    Bathroom was shabby, tiles needed regrouting but lots of hot water. Hotel is under new management and it will take time to refurbish all the rooms so it may be a little run down, but its acceptable.

    Excellent service and care from all hotel staff. Given upgrade to much better room. Range of entertainments on offer. Very comfortable room (Bridal Suite). Very comfortable bar area. Very pretty hotel in prime location.

    Window fittings were original - they did need some t.l.c. (although I understand that the hotel is going through a period of steady renovation)

    The hotel is being brought back up to standard. Some bedrooms smelt very smoky.

    Convenient location and handy parking

    Breakfast time was rather a shambles, staff seemed unable to cope, Toast did not arrive with the breakfast although my wife was only having scambled egg and could not eat this on its own. Was not shown where the buffet part was and it was only by seeing another guest go over to the far side of the room to pour orange juice that we realised it was there

    Staff were excellent and friendly. My wife and my son were made very welcome and felt very much at home. Food was excellent. Service too was excellent.

    "For the purpose of our visit the hotel was just as we required. The room was well equipped and facilities were adequate. The staff were all very efficient, helpful and pleasant. I would stay there again." (99183698)

    "Generally no one seems to much care about guests. Young staff at breakfast seem disinterested. I suspect not trained or very interested. Tables left uncleared. No one asked if we wanted dinner. Would recommend but with caveats re service. Nice garden area at the back. Was adequate but could be really good." (3304697463)

    Good location for The Bird Fair.

    Breakfast service was poor. Morning papers (ordered when booking and confirmed when checking in) were forgotten/ignored - had to request each morning. Room was OK but when booking hotel should advise that it will be very noisy early am Friday as the market is set up in the Square immediately outside. Inadequate draw space for anyone staying more than an odd night or so.

    "Throroughly enjoyed our stay as with all previous times. On this occasion we were attending a wedding and so had prior notice of the evening entertainment but previously we have phoned the Falcon directly and booked a room for Friday/Saturday night at short notice and not been informed that functions/music were also booked. This can make for a noisy night when you're not expecting it." (3304320278)

    We were fortunate to get room 1 which is a room we have used several times before and we very much like. Overall we like the quirky olde worlde feel of the Falcon hotel and have always received good service from the management and staff.

    It has to be said that there are a few grubby corners and the odd cobweb floating about so a little more attention on the cleaning front would not go amiss.

    "The room was very poor and others in our group suffered as well. We stayed during a major heat wave however the hotel made little effort to help ie fans in rooms might have helped. There were hot warm pipes running through the rooms which didn't help. The shower was poor and not very clean." (3305029249)

    The food in the hotel was very good and it was a good location for the town.

    The room was very small. There was a tiny window and the temp. in the room was into the high 30's.

    "Whilst the hotel is in a lovely old town and is clearly a hotel of fine character outside, the interior looks a bit old and shabby and in need of a refurbishment. The bar area was very smoky. The redeeming feature was a very good English breakfast although, when a collegue tried to order kippers from the menu, there weren't any." (3304476259)

    "This lovely old building needs a lot of TLC and money spent on it, and if it had this I am sure that it could become a very nice hotel. The decor is very tired, and the hotel lobby/bar area is cold and draughty." (3304383891)

    Very nice town, and local area

    It is rather shabby and not very well cleaned, and there is not enough staff - the receptionist doubles as the waitress and makes the toast for breakfast.

    Good facilities, excellent breakfast, good value overall

    It was known a big group was checking out in the morning, but only one person was available to handle it. A frustrating experience!

    "die Zimmer sind mit Einfachverglasung versehen und die Betten waren lediglich mit einer Wolldecke versehen. Es zog in der Nacht adurch das Fenster. Das Badezimmer war nicht mit einer herkommlichen Heizung versehen und der Wasserdruck war so niedrig, das man während des Duschens nicht richtig nass wurde. Des Weiteren gab es nur eine Badewanne mit Duschvorrichtung, deren Schlauch zu kurz war, so das ich mich nicht unter die Dusche stellen konnte (Körpergrösse 1,86 m). Der Frühstücks-/Restorant-/Aufenthaltsraum war groß und gemütlich eingrichtet, aber besonders in den Morgenstunden sehr kalt (wurde nur mit wenigen Heizkörpern und einem Kamin beheizt). Das Frühstück war typisch britisch." (3304051483)

    "On arrival we had to wait about 5-10 minutes to check in as the desk manager was on the phone. We booked a double room and were given a twin room instead. The ceiling lights and bathroom light did not work and had to be reported to reception to be fixed. Our room was very dusty and on the whole looked 'tired' and in need of freshening up. The bathroom - although clean - had a towel rail hanging off the wall. There was no bath just a walk in shower, and the shower was more of a trickle. Guests appreciate a decent shower in hotels. On the whole we did not find this hotel good value for money at £90 for one night." (2588631)

    The breakfast was excellent. It was convenient for the wedding.

    "Although the cost of the room was reasonable, I would expect several things within that price range: a less shabby appearance to the accomodation area of the hotel; being taken to my room; a more informative welcome (being told my room number would have helped, as well as general information about the hotel); a decent cup of coffee at breakfast; and no band playing under my room till 11.30pm."     Plenty of character, good setting, decent sized bed

    Parts of the decor were a little shabby. The breakfast was disappointing (especially the coffee).
