    value for money at £29.00 per single room. good breakfast and evening meal athough the evening meal service was slow due to the chef not on site

    palasade gates are locked at certain times this can cause a problem when leaving the hotel at certain times.

    Laundry service was readily available as well as iron for ironing. Nikki was always checking the weather for us and the benefit was that she usually told us in advance when it would rain. She offered us two umbrellas for our use throughout our stay.

    Bad points were far-fetched. One would not expect a bed and breakfast facility to offer more than the excellent services that we had at Coaching Inn Hotel. Our minor problem was with the toilet that couldn't flush with the first swing of the handle some of the time, but it was all fun. I am not certain about toilets in the other rooms.

    Friendly, warm, clean and comfortable, with a great breakfast. Good value for money.

    Hauling our big suitcases up stairs was hard work. No complaints otherwise.

    Tea/Coffee making available & colour TV. A chair & table top/draw unit to work at if required

    External appearance was a bit off putting but the interior was very good. Bed was a bit on the hard side.

    we are very happy ,we arrived late 9.45pm and accomadated our needs for an evening meal,very pleasant and polite staff that actualy listened to what we wanted. would recommend to anyone who wants that personal touch .we will be useing this hotel again

    "Everything was clear and accurate on the web site and all that was stated was available. The only thing that was not emphasised was the fact that the breakfast was one of the tastiest I have had the pleasure to eat.     Friendly reception by the owner, secure vehicle parking,fire fighting equipment aand evacuation proceedures explained.

    Ceiling still had to painted after a roof leak but decor was clean and tidy.

    "The directions to the hotel were helpful and it was easy to find: I thought the price of the overnight stay was high for the standard of hotel - e.g. cf with Premier Lodges or the Britannia Hotel at Standish. The breakfast was good but on the small side for an English cooked breakfast and no choice was given about what we wanted - basic 2 sausages, 1 slice of bacon, 1 egg and a few baked beans. The room was comfortable, particularly the beds. The TV reception was poor. I will stress again that the welcome we had was lovely and we appreciated this as we stayed overnight before a funeral."     "Bedrooms and bathrooms very clean, but hotel needs some re-plastering and painting in places (March 07). Other hotels round Wigan tend to be 5 miles away. This was much closer to Wigan Pier. Walkable, partly along the canal. Owners are very helpful and breakfast was great. This is hotel rather than a pub these days. Bar is for residents only." (99219467)

    Location close to relatives that we were visiting.

    Although the hotel was clean it was in need of redecoration.
