    room very hot seeing the heating was not on, could see that you have spent good money on the room but the work was of a poor quality. Sack the builder.

    Tim on reception was an absolute star and he is so welcoming, it was a very nice greeting. The room was picturesque and very comfortable. The whole expierience was uplifting and I would recommend the Hotel to anybody.

    There was no fitting in the bath for the shower so I couldnt have a shower in the morning.

    "We looked for and experienced a comfortable, traditional provincial English hotel and enjoyed our stay. We will come again and have already recommended to friends." (107840615)

    Nice décor, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was excellent. Booking on line was simple and the descriptions reflected the hotel well. The price was competitive with local bed & breakfast guest houses and so for us reflected good value for money.

    Location- nice room quiet..

    Food.. could be bit better. Staff in dining area not aware of quests needs. Could be a bit better trained in service, however very nice people. Reception was good and very keen to help.

    "the hotel should warn us about their party plans and that guests will be kept awake by their disco and drunk party goers until gone midnight. at leats have the sense to put us on the other side of the hotel away from your night club. on that basis i wouldnt recommend this hotel" (97551702)

    location for my visit to family in tavistock, as well as the central location for the town

    the noise from the wedding party on saturday during the day, and even worse at night. the disco went on til midnight so i couldnt go to bed, then the wedding guests made even more noise leaving and going to their rooms. had i known about this i wouldnt have stayed at the hotel, and unless i'm promised a room as far away from the disco as possible i wouldnt stay at the bedford again. i was pretty angry on saturday night.

    "A refreshing change from the anonymity of the major hotel chains. We loved the old fashioned decor and photographs on the walls and the staff were all helpful and polite. The hotel is in a really good location near to restaurants and bars. I would highly recommend a stay here" (99348399)

    The service and manners of the staff was excellent.I travel very much for my work all over the world but hardly found such kindness.

    It was nice, and the garden was nice. The breakfast was good and the rooms clean, although small.

    I think although the accommodation was clean, the prices are extortionate for what is actually received. I have stayed in various 'luxury hotels' through work when i lived in london and for ones where you have to pay a large sum, you generally receive more than literally just a room. For example, we had no shampoos/shower gels/toothpaste/body creams in our bathroom, which would be expected for what we were paying. It was nice, and we enjoyed our stay, but I think that more in the way of service and making customers feel special should be offered.

    "The staff (especially at the reception desk) were excellent - very friendly and helpful. The hotel has real character and, while slightly worn in some areas, still has a lovely traditional feel to it. As it was my partner's birthday, we were given a lovely room with a four-poster bed at no extra cost. The bar area was pleasant and the service and food at breakfast was good. There is plenty of parking and the location right in the centre of Tavistock is ideal." (99962365)

    Comfortable and spacious, good lighting, excellent breakfast

    creaky floor, heat on entering room but soon remedied by turning down radiators, traffic noise after asking for quiet room.

    Friendly and helpful staff . Location being in the centre of Tavistock .

    The room was in need of modernisation . The bed sqeaked and the pillows were not supportive . When we arrived back in the evening , the bar was closed and it was only 10:40 p.m . We were told that they would open the bar , so we ordered a drink but the bar was closed straight afterwards . We found this a annoying as we would like to have stayed in the bar for a little while .

The first time I was impressed with the accomodation, but the second time I had an extremely small single room, and the bed was broken and very uncomfortable.     "Bad entrance from rear car park, it was raining! The restaurant prices for dinner were too expensive. Better to have set price menus on a Sunday evening. We ate out. Breakfast was good, and staff friendly. A pleasant one night stop." (99733581)

    Good size room and bed.

    Had to request towells. prefer duvet to sheet/blankets. Noisy room at front, this should be advised when checking in.

    "Whilst the hotel is ideally located the general appearance is clean but rather worn out. We did not expect the rooms to be modern but the toilet was soiled when we arrived and did not work properly throughout our stay despite complaints. The bed was small and this should have been advertised in advance so we could have made a different choice. The room was pokey with barely room to move around. Towels were small. The water took ages to drain from the washbasin. The bath and shower worked well and the breakfast was good and quickly served although the time it was available was rather limiting." (3305070122)

    "Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant and relaxed, and we would return. However we believe that there is an opportunity to improve the service in the dining room. Eating should be a pleasurable experience, and the staff of this dining room ought to be aware that there performance can enhance or detract from that enjoyment. In our view the effect is probably negative rather than positive. Management training in this area, would benefit the hotel,its diners and we believe - the hotel's staff." (3304998226)

    Comfortable, and reception staff responded positively to requests.

    A reasonably good dining room was spoilt by a staff that seemed to be predominantly concerned with time, and did not always listen to diners' requests. (More below)

    "We were disappointed as the hotel was situated in the middle of the town, but we were unable to return to the hotel and enjoy a last drink before retiring (after returning from a concert nearby), as the front door was locked at 11pm and no provision for residents to drink in either their room or the main bar area.     The room was adequate, but we have stayed in lesser graded hotels and received better service overall.

    The room was basic, with very limited ventilation.
