    Lovely Breakfast choice. Nice big television. Moira is a very friendly lady who made me feel very welcome.

    No mobile signal in room. No provision of Wifi - though to be fair it was made clear there would be none when I booked, it is almost an essential facility for the business traveller.

    One electrical socket was condemmed. Bathroom decor was very tired but it all had character.

    Good part of town and nice town. Interesting location and easy to get to the airport the next morning. Nice hostness but she does not have a lot to work with.

    Run down. While the room was large, it is not up to date or fresh. IT is very expensive for the quality of the B&B.

    Not very much though the bed linen was clean

    The stains on the carpets throughout, the marks on the walls and doors, electric wires in the wardrobe with sticky tape on them, the lack of room for breakfast and the general attitude of the landlady

    "Although it represented good value, I was disappointed that when I went drop off my baggage at 2pm there was no one around so I had to leave it with the hotel across the road. In addition, my promised breakfast didn't arrive in the morning, and most disappointingly a cleaner burst in on me sleeping at 9am without knocking." (99213431)

    "Overall this is a lovely hotel which I would recommend. Its a little far from Edinburgh City Centre. But the staff are more than happy to assist with your travel arrangements." (3305205984)

    Staff very friendly and polite

    On checkout they said we had paid by a voucher, this was not the case and we need to settle our bill by creditcard. The person on reception insisted that this was not the case.

    "This was a great start to a long weekend visiting South Queensferry then Edinburgh. The hotel is small,with friendly welcome and the room clean and pleasant. Very close to shops,good restaurants and looking over the Forth Bridge. We walked up to Dalmeny station and caught the train into Edinburgh the next day, very easy." (3304935121)

    "A great place to stay if a little basic. X43 bus from the airport - It's a long walk from the Toll Bridge especially if you don't know where you are going - a taxi would have been better and possibly cheaper. Bus service into Edinburgh is regular and good. Excellent breakfast - Would recommend and definately stay again." (3304504644)

    "Nothing to complain if you're up to a short stay and meaning to have a room to sleep and a nice breakfast. As a guesthouse, the infrastructure is too familiar and shall not be very comfortable for being a long stay." (3304826997)

    Great location, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and overall terrific value for money.

    Breakfast area is small and felt a bit cluttered.

    "This hotel met my expectations as a two-star hotel. I was looking for a budget hotel which would be suitable for a short overnight stay, without any frills. The atmosphere in the hotel is very friendly and helpful. I do not recommend this hotel if you want a plush luxurious stay [you should go across the road], but since extensive renovations are planned (including addition of internet connections), I'm sure this opinion will need to be revised in the near future!"     "The Hawthorne could do with modernising,but on the plus side the staff were very good and Moira whent out of her way to make us feel at home. The village of South Queensferry was beyond our expectations for being picturesque and it was only less than 30mins on the bus to Edinburgh" (1766040)

    "Estancia agradable. Buen trato y desayuno generoso y variado. Me gustaría destacar que un día no nos levantamos para la hora del desayuno y la mujer del hostal tuvo el gran detalle de dejarnos el desayuno a los pies de nuestra habitación para cuando nos levantásemos. Fue un gesto que nos gustó mucho. El lugar de ubicación es entrañable (buenas vistas de los puentes y el mar). Destacar sobretodo las vistas al atardecer. El autobús está muy cerca para poder ir al centro de Edimburgo (se tardan unos 20 min. ya que este hostal no está en el centro de Edimburgo).La frecuencia entre cada autobús es de unos 20 min. En la zona hay tiendas, restaurantes, pubs y un supermercado grande cerca pero a pesar de ello es una zona bastante tranquila. Como puntos negativos: Aparcamiento bastante limitado y sobretodo puntualizar que hay que tener cuidado de no aparcar entre ciertas horas más de un tiempo limitado (creo que son 30 minutos) porque es zona comercial y multan. Para aparcar tranquilamente hay que alejarse un poco." (1929601)
