    Room was really lovely, plenty of space. Bed was firm.

    Shower was luke warm - did mention this on leaving the next morning.

    "The position of the hotel in the town was exceptional, all the staff were helpful and pro-active. The restaurant provided good, varied choices of food. This is a good hotel offering a quality product and the cost reflects that." (97496251)

    The decor was complementary to the age of the building, the bathroom was large, well equiped and very clean

    Floors a bit creaky which didn't worry us as we didn't have anyone above us but, if you were below........

    "Top hotel with an excellent restaurant. Located in centre of town yet in a quiet surrounding. Excellent breakfast included. Staff very helpful. Shower not very user friendly (not really state-of-the art)." (99344283)

    The hotel-building looks very romantic and boasts a lovely garden. Very nice room. Excellent restaurant.

    The accommodation was excellent. Very clean and orderly and most certainly comfortable.

    Clean and comfortable room,extremely friendly and helpfull staff, good food and service.

    Restaurant not open Sunday Night, however Bistro was fine.

    The staff at the hotel were excellent, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

    It was hot in the room due to summer temperatures.

    the friendly atmosphere

    it would have been nice for my partner to have been able to smoke in the room. but as it was she had to go into the garden every time she wanted a smoke.

    "Unfortunately only stayed for one night, but wished I could have stayed much longer. A very relaxed atmosphere, and friendly, polite staff made the night a great start to the weekend. I guess the one thing I would have liked to have known is that the dustbin lorry arrives VERY early on Saturday morning. If I had known I would have kept my window shut!! Will definitely return, however, if I can think of an excuse to visit the area again." (3304568407)

    The hotel was individual, full of character, and in a lovely position. The staff were welcoming and efficient, and the food was gorgeous.

    The bed was a bit hard.

    "After a long journey to the hotel it was extremely nice to be so warmly welcomed. The staff on reception were very helpful and the porter was on hand to escort to room. The rooms were of an extremely high quality and clean. The restaurant and bar facilites were second to none. I will certainly be staying at this hotel again and also recommending it to others.     Good sized rooms, in an old and fascinating hotel which is full of intrigue and history. Something out of the ordinary, yet a hop skip and a jump from the town centre. If your looking for something different from the usual commercial chain hotels found in most town centres, this comes highly recommended.

    "The hotel staff were friendly and informative and the rooms were a good size and were kept extremely clean. But I did not feel as if I was getting value for money - the room was the same as most hotel rooms I have stayed in - yet it was about 3 times more expensive." (3304114526)

    The room was extremely clean and fairly large, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

    Value for money - I felt I paid a lot of money for a room that was no better than a 60 pound a night room.

    "The hotel was wonderful. Immaculately decorated throughout, with character. We ate at the resturant in the evening and it was the best meal we have ever had, fairly expensive but worth every penny. Hotel is conveniently situated next to the shops, but has the feeling of quite isolation inside. A family owned business and happy professional staff." (3304242488)

    "The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to accommodate a request. We enjoyed the hotel-produced jam so much at breakfast that we asked for a small pot to take home which was duly supplied by the French restaurant manager with pleasure and no fuss." (2753670)

    Spacious, quiet,warm comfortable room with a huge bed.

    A mini bar in the room would have put the icing on the cake, also an iron would have been much appreciated.

    "A friend recomended this hotel to us and it was in the right place for the Ball we were to attend that evening. on our arrival the care and curtacy we recieved were outstanding, we will be back soon to enjoy this delightful hotel again." (2423005)

    "Would just like to say, when I cecked in I had parked my car in the pay and display car park next door. On completing my registration I mentioned that they wouldn't need my car registration as I had parked next door. The check in staff were most concerned that i would have to be up before 8 am the following morning to feed the meter. They very kindly offered to take my keys, park my car. This spontaneous and proactive approach made my stay extremely enjoyable." (2412711)

    "Ideal for a romantic/short break weekend. Excellent location for Taunton city centre. Would be a great place to meet people or have afternoon tea as there were plenty of seating areas and little nooks. Adequate parking but gets full quickly.     "A very comfortable overnight stay in a hotel which was full of character without being pretentious. A special mention to 'Viv' who gave us a tour of the Penthouse suite with its accompanying views! i think we knew what to expect as we had done our research before we booked it and our expectations were more than met!"     "Hotel chosen for wedding anniversary. It was a good choice. Lovely building. Extremely helpful staff. Fantastic restaurant (one of the best meals I have had). Prices are slightly high, but the quality reflects this and I have no complaints. Only smoking area is the lounge which (as a smoker) I was happy with as it kept other areas clear for non-smokers. Also very well located within Taunton, but you wouldn't think it when in the hotel." (2273203)
