    Friendly staff, nice place, good value, close to city centre, easy to get to

    Generally, I'm used to a buffet for breakfast, which I would have preferred, but even so the made-to-order breakfast was nice

    "Overall we had a very pleasant stay and will use this hotel again when staying in Glasgow. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The one drawback is the lack of dedicated parking but once you have parked your car there are no parking restrictions and it is only a 7 minute walk to the underground station which will take you to the city centre. We managed to park directly in front of the hotel entrance. The hotel itself is close to the West-end restuarants and nightspots in and around Byers Road." (97192887)

    "Good accomodation, well placed for the west end of Glasgow within easy walking diatance of Byres Road at the botanical gardens. We were in town for a concert at the Orin Mor and it was ideal. There is a bar on the premises and if you were there with a crowd it would be useful but felt a bit empty with just the two of us! the staff were all very friendly and chatty and I would consider it excellent value for money. Breakfast was plentiful and hot! All in all something a wee bit individual for the same price as some of the cheaper chains with breakfast thrown in. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again."     The room was huge - airy and well decorated with plenty of tea and coffee, toiletries and clean towels

    Stairs were a bit of a hike, glad we were on the 2nd rather than 3rd floor

    Spacious rooms. Ostentatious but fairly priced

    The small things. Shower only worked if you held it up in the air as the pipe was kinked and there was no bracket to hold the shower head. Im sure this was only an oversight as the staff seemed consciencous about the facilities.

    conveniently situated round corner from our daughter who was graduating at Glasgow University-hence the reason for our stay there. also very convenient for Glasgow. the bed linen was especially lovely feeling! I didn't want to get up in the morning for breakfast--so I missed it! a very comfy bed.

    The receptionist gave us the wrong key to our room. so we climbed 3 flights of stairs in the wee hours with suitcase and high heels, to the top attic room-only to find it occupied!! we climbed all the way down again to clarify our room number to be given room on first floor. could have done without that after a very long tiring day!

    The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, approachable and very helpful. Location is perfect for the west end and access to public transport.

    "It is in a very good location for walking to major attractions/ to the underground and is on a main bus route. plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is nice, although the carpets are a bit suspect. The service was very good. Initially there was no 'satelite tv' as stated in the booking but this was rectified once I queried this. The breakfast was very good and filling - a full scottish breakfast plus cereals and fruit. Overall I probably wouldnt stay here again because of the quality of the room. But in terms of overall value for money it was ok." (99859728)

    The room was very large and appeared to be newly decorated. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The location was excellent as it was in the west end where there were a lot of good shops and restaurants

    One morning the service at breakfast was indifferent. i.e requests were ignored and attitude of one of the women in particular was poor. The room was in the basement and was very dark and dingy. The room had a number of minor defects such as the bath rail was hanging out of the wall, the handle was hanging off one of the bedside draws, the carpet had a large dark stain on it, the main door lock was very dodgy.

    "The parking is n-road in a cul-de-sac and it is difficult to secure a place. Once parked however we found the staff to be friendly and courteous, the room (especially the bed) comfortable and the breakfast good and hearty" (99803433)

    "On arrival I was given my key and useful info. The room was satisfactory. It was a bit difficult to get a large suitcase downstairs. Unfortunately I tended to sleep through breakfast and eat out for the rest of the day so I cannot comment on the food. I think breakfast hours could be extended.     I liked the high standards of cleanliness and the fact that the staff were attentive and friendly.

    I thought the room was a bit small, but having said that, there was a very nice big bathroom.

    Big rooms, lots of character

    Electrics dodgy- kettle blew and threw the lights. Night porter did not know what to do.... Bedroom not made up or cleaned while we where there.

    "This is a nice change to identikit hotels and it's in a good location. The rooms I've stayed in have been spacious although the shower rooms are nothing to write home about. The staff are friendly and although the decor is best described as interesting in places, the fine old townhouse has some pleasing original features. I'll stay again." (3304179794)

    Good location, especially for the West End hotspots and underground station. Suprisingly peaceful given proximity to Gt Western Rd. Friendly staff. On-street parking fairly easy to come by

    Room I stayed in this time had no workspace and odd furniture layout. Shower rather unpredictable.

    "We were visiting my daughter who lives in a flat about 10 minutes walk away from this hotel. This is the university district so I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting children who are students. We liked the old building and the room with a large window and high ceiling. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem was the pillows which were hard and lumpy! Test them when you arrive and maybe you can get them changed!" (2995278)

    "Enjoyed our stay at the Belhaven hotel. The room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The hotel is in a good location and it's easy to get to the centre of Glasgow from - we used the tube trains (a station is 5-10 minutes walk away). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and will definitely use again when staying in Glasgow" (2281127)

    Was in a good location and the room was clean and very comfortable

    Being staffed up and organised for breakfasts. Breakfast was excellent but we had to wait for a bit. Think that this was because all the guests seemed to appear at the same time and the staff seemed to be slightly overwhelmed by this. This is a very minor complaint, though, as we were in no great rush and the staff could not have been more pleasant. It would not put me off booking again.

    "Despite the fact it rained non-stop, we had a fantasic stay in Glasgow. The hotel was welcoming and intimate to return to.Breakfast was delicious.We were right at the top of the hotel which might prove difficult for some people because of the stairs you have to climb.We loved the view from the room.The decor was modern and well cared for."     Its position was ideal for axploring the city. There are fantastic places to eat out nearby.We liked using the underground railway at Hillhead which was very close to the hotel-it made the journey into the centre very easy and quick.

    The shower we had in our room was leaking and hard to use.

    Room on the first floor. Having our own bathroom. Size if the room. The bedding. The staff were very friendly. The atmosphere in the hotel.

    No elevator if you were staying upstairs. Not always easy for older patrons. Having to unlock the front door to come in and having to always remember to lock the room door (no automatic lock)

    The staff were all friendly and helpful and there was a generally relaxed but efficient atmosphere

    The time for hot water to appear at the shower and car parking could be difficult at busy times although the location means car parking probably cannot be extended.

    Great location, very pleasant room, general hotel environment and ambience, and finally very polite and helpful members of staff.

    my first night was spent in a basement single room at the front of the building. i found it extremely noisy (as it was directly under the entrance stairs and the front door) and was also situated by the rubbish bins which were incredibly noisy when being filled with bottles and rubbish! Additionally, the lock on that particular room's door is not a good fit and, given its proximity to the fire door on to the street, lone female travellers may feel particularly vulnerable if placed in this room.
