    "Very disapointing - a shame as location is great and a bit of care and attention to hygene and personal warmth and friendlyness could make this a super place to stay." (108985230)

    Price was cheap!

    Poor reception on arrival - shown to room and left. Pillows were flat; the room was dirty and very cramped; the shower cubical (and I am a size 8) was even more cramped and I kept hitting my elbows off the side! When I was asked what I would like for breakfast I asked for 2 poached eggs on toast and was simply told "NO!"

    The hotel was very clean. The staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It is very near the rail station and would come and stay again.

    "For £55 [bed only] I would have expected more in the way of creature comforts. Although I new I was going to a basic hotel, I've had very much better quality of stay in a B&B for a similar price." (107840437)

    Room was clean but in a poor state of repair. The room was very sparsely furnished and the bathroom tiling was broken and damaged. There was a family room nearby and we could hear every conversation that the parents had with their kid. The bar was extortionately priced. A Jack Daniels with Asda Smart Price Cola and a small glass of the same cola was £5 and there was no ice available!

    Irish receptionist very pleasant

    No mirror in room or bathroom, no hot water, only 1 coathanger, coat cupboard needed cleaned, linen could have been more attractive. Continental breakfast choice very limited, cooked breakfast plate filled with beans.

    The hotel had some past bad reviews but my visit was really good. I had a great stay and the staff could no have been more helpful. Our room 17 was both comfortable modern and the rate beats Edinburgh prices.grat location.

    "I would not re-book at this hotel, I informed the manager that there was no hot water in the basin on the first morning but nothing was done. Very dissappointed." (107397283)

    The manager and his wife were very courteous and respectful.

    The room I stayed in was in dire need of refurbishment, the room itself was dirty, the carpets were full of dust and the en-suite had cobwebs in the corners and the shower had black mould growth in it.

    "Came away very disapointed, didn't get much sleep due to the bed, couldn't have a hot shower or even a hot wash as there was no hot water in the room at all and then in the morning the cooked breakfast came out on a saucer and was of very poor quality. All in all we were not happy and all said we would never come back to this hotel again" (107923132)

    Friendly staff

    No hot water, springs on bed sticking through making it real hard to sleep, food very bland and small portions and obviously no thought gone into it, room looked like it was half way through being decorated

    Got what we paid for

    "Having read the pervious reviews I must admit I felt like I took a chance when booking this hotel. I worried about worn out beds, dirty bathroom etc. Even though the room was a bit small I did not have to worry. The bed was just as comfy as any other hotel-bed, and bathroom was clean enough for us. Even though I agree that the rooms might need a refurb, I would still describe the overall experience as good."     Struggling to think of any!!

    Room very dirty especially carpet around edges. Was downstairs in basement and very cold - in August!! Shower intermittent, would stop/start and scald you. Towels not very pleasant to smell, fortunately managed to drip dry. Bedding had holes in it. One couple during my stay decided to leave and find an alternative hotel. Hotel inspectors would have a field day with this one.

    The reception was good. Checkin time is flexible and people are very co-operavtive. Breakfast was excellent.

    "This hotel was experiencing some management problems and may improve with time given current new incumbents.The rooms were described as small but the reallity is ' really small'. The double room I was given in exchange for a single was grubby, tired and quite frankly not up to a standard expected in todays hospitality trade even though the price was bottom line. The new management staff were friendly and upbeat about the future of the hotel and I wish them well but they have a lot to do." (97393807)

    Not a lot. Quite depressing in fact.

    Small room which was not cleaned properly. Inadequate bar facilities. General run down appearance of property both inside and out.

    They were very accomadating once they found our reservation. Very helpful in helping us get around the city and how to use the public transit.

    The rooms were very cramped and did not seem to be finished in regards to decorating and painting. For the price we paid we did not feel that the rooms were up to standard

    dirty room, bedding dirty, cobwebs on window and ceiling, sink hadn't been cleaned still had shaving stubble in it, double mattress on a 3/4 base, wire hanging out of lamp and the bulb, did not feel we could stay the hotel is in serious decline

    "With budget hotels you don't expect the very best of everything but this hotel was very basic. A few more staff may have meant that the rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaner wouldn't be serving breakfast before she went about the rest of her work." (97103653)

    Staff were friendly and eager to please although they were restricted by a very heavy workload and time.

    Shower not working properly, room was dark and very badly decorated, cold and would have suited better as a single room.

    Owner and wife were very helpfull and went out of their way to ensure we got some breakfast long before the normal hour.

    The mattress on the bed had such bad springs that I had to sleep on top of the coverlet.

    The staff were extremely friendly, it was easy to find and it was good value for money. They were wonderful about me bringing my dog.

    Nothing much - only that the TV remote didnt work.
