    Friendly atmosphere. Good bar and comfortable public rooms. Excellent location - all attractions within walking distance. Restaurant offered good, simple food, and at a very reasonable cost. Breakfasts average. Staff friendly and helplful.

    A good place to stay if you are fully mobile; but the age of the building means that corridors have odd steps here and there. The electronic locks were a bit temperamental. Some breakfast dishes could have been more carefully cooked.

    "We very much enjoyed the stay as part of the Johnson Society activities over the weekend. We would certainly stay there again and will when we return for future Johnson activities. " (107498435)

    Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Proximity to walking malls and shops/market was very nice. Sense of history was evident and appreciated in hotel and area.

    "Comfortable hotel in centre of town." (107867999)

    Room was quiet despite there being a wedding reception in the hotel. Good to have air conditioning.

    The only negative point was the heated towel rail in the bathroom. There was a warning notice about it getting very hot. I found it quite dangerously hot.

    Lovely hotel - clean and comfortable. What a pleasant surprise to find air conditioning in an English hotel. The weather was really hot and the air con was a godsend!!!

    On two occasions staff members knocked on my door and walked in without my consent, highly unprofessional.

    Lovely hotel, staff friendly and efficient, very pleased on arrival.

    Carvery in restaurant was very poor, all vegetables etc were very dry and hard. Hor Deuves to start looked very dry and unappetising so we opted for soup which was ok but not alot of taste, didn't eat much of carvery meal as so poor. Our room was next to passage at side of hotel, very very noisy until 4am so didn't get much sleep. I understand it is a city hotel (which is what we were told when we mentioned it to staff) but we wouldn't stay here again because of the above problems.

    "The Hotel was unaware that I had booked a stay dispite my having received a confirmation email - I was directed to the Holiday Inn Express on the Birmingham Road, which had pleasant, helpful staff it was clean and comfortable, I would highly recommend anyone considering staying at the George Hotel do not and go to the Holiday Inn Express instead.     "Hotel in city centre , very noisy outside until about 2pm (was a Saturday night ) .first room offered was totally unacceptable very small and NO opening window . Good point ... Reception staff were very sympathetic and even though Hotel was full managed to find us another room , ( usually used by manager when staying overnight,)" (97578876)

    2nd room adequate for price , although hairdryer was faulty , kept cutting out.

    first room was extremely small , just about walk around double bed , window didn't open

    "Excellent hotel and very central in Lichfield. Cathedral within walking distance. Many excellent restaurants nearby. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast excellent, except for toast. Why not allow guests to make own toast so that they can enjoy it hot and when they are ready?" (97766239)

    Large spacious room, excellent shower, appreciated air conditioning and free internet access. Plenty of free parking.

    Odd system for toast at breakfast, shower not very hot.

    "We had stayed at this hotel 30 years ago, but do not remember much about that stay so are unable to make comparisions. In addition I had lived in Lichfield for a number of years in the 1950's and 1960's so chose The George becasue it is right in the centre of the City and therefore readily accessible to all amenities. There is aalso a frequenbt train service into Birmingham soit is convenient for visiting there." (97829671)

    The size of the room and the bed was excellent.

    The only sight problem is congestion with car parking at times.

    Thicknes of Duvet, even in the winter we only use a Tog 4!

    "I would reccoment this hotel for an overnight stay , room was acceptable and the bed comfotable, Price paid reflected the level of accomadation , if i had to stay longer i would have expected more, staff were efficient, and the breakfasst was very good" (97316090)

    hotel is central to litchfield, staff are polite and efficient , bar has a good selection of beers ,

    Sash window of room 38 rattled in the wind all night, Hotel closed down early , and although it was possible to get late drink it was a very unsociable atmosphere

    Facilities good generally. Restaurant good, service good

    Windows in room did not open, trouser press to close to the bed so that both of us scratched our leg on it. Extractor fan in the bathroom did not go off and kept us awake.

    "A great location in the centre of town with private parking. Lots of good places to eat in the near vicinity for every type of taste and price range. The George also has a very good value and interesting looking lunch menu. Easy to find as there are brown tourist signs with The George Hotel on. Lots of interesting litlle shops in Lichfield and of course the magnificent Cathedral and Close." (97094446)

    Room very comfortable, clean and warm. Nice furnishings in the bedroom and good fittings in the bathroom. Good breakfast.

    Everything. Lovely plush accomodation, good value, felt spoilt lovely treat and very relaxing.

    room was too warm and the air conditioning was noisy. It would have been nice to open a window. Only small negative point.

    "Hotel is one of few centrally located in Lichfield. Elderly single glazed windows do little to subdue the noisy nightlife in the town centre. Newly fitted bathroom has no heating and poor finish. Carvery style restaurant well run and good value." (97659251)

    "I initially booked the room because the hotel was near to the venue I was visiting, merely a place to stay but the hotel itself, the room, the food and the staff were excellent and made the stay that much more pleasurable. What was said in the advertisments outside the hotel were very true! On my return home I immediately sent an email complimenting the manager and his staff. I would certainly stay there again and would recommend the George to friends." (97599829)

    "A very pleasant hotel - clean and comfortable. An old inn with character but modernised well. Rooms and bathrooms spacious, clean and well equipped. Staff helpful and polite. Food basic but good - better value to eat in the bar, unless you have a large appetite. Hotel situated in the attractive town and not easy to find first time due to the pedestrianised areas that restrict access. Parking easy at back of building. Lovely to be able to walk out into shops and were unaware of being in town centre at night. There are plenty of places to visit around the area and places to eat in the town, but not a good week for theatre (closed) or cinemas." (99665951)

    Rooms clean, well equipped and very pleasant. Hotel gave very easy access to the town.

    "The card which the booking was made on line was different to the card I had. The card the booking was made with was a company card, so I had to use my own personnal card to pay at the end of my stay, No point booking on line!!" (97705718)

    Staff were very welcoming, and helped with directions to the event I was travelling for. Very quiet hotel, had a very good nights sleep!! Very clean.
