    "One night when you are tired is fine, the staff were quite grumpy in the morning and not very welcoming - we felt like an inconvenience! The food was okay, though." (108591991)

    It was a bed for the night and we were tired!

    The plumbing was noisy, there was a dog whining in the night and the state of the room was really not great - it needed a real face-lift. There marks on the carpet, the wall paper was ripped behind one of the beds and it took ages for the hot water to run - they did warn us, but...

    Hotel was very clean and staff friendly.

    The walls were a wee bit paper thin as could hear the television blaring from next room until late.

    "Overall the accommodation was fine although a bit expensive for a two star hotel with no lift. At present there is a housing development next door but no work at the weekend. The hotel is on the edge of the town centre a 15 minute walk will take you to other hotels, shops and restaurants and a little more to the harbour. There was no local entertainment but the walks are good with other fishing villages close by, St Andrews is only a twenty minute drive away." (97191076)

    The superior room was a good size, the king size bed was two single beds pushed together but clean and comfortable, good view over the Firth of Forth. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

    The en-suite was small and a bit dated. Quite an expedition up the stairs with luggage.

    Proximity to St Andrews. Breakfast experience was good. Access to food and alcohol during the evening was convenient.

    Room was very small. We were expecting to have a sitting area in our room to enjoy the view, but found no sitting area and no view. Our evening dining experience was also disappointing - even some music to create a little ambiance would have significantly improved matters!

    "I had a pleasant stay at the hotel and would use it again. It is in need of a top to bottom refurbishment, so if you're very picky don't stay here. However if you're sick of cardboard chain hotels and crave individuality and character, then do. Good location in a lovely spot." (99597872)

    "For anyone coming to the St. Andrews area, The Balcomie Links Hotel, located in the quaint town of Crail, Scotland is the perfect place to enjoy your stay. Not only are the rooms nice and clean, but the hospitality and friendliness of the owners and their staff made it a most enjoyable stay for us. We give it two thumbs-up!" (3304355149)

    All the staff were very friendly and willing to help in any way. Special thanks and graditudes go out to the owners. We had come for our daughters graduation from St. Andrews University. We asked the owners (a married couple)if they would prepare a special dinner party celebration in their dinning room for 7 people, which included our daughter and family members who had also come for the graduation ceremony. They prepared a wonderful starter plate of prawns and liver pate, followed-up by sea bass and top roast beef. Desert was a delicious homemade cheese cake and Victorian sponge cake. Not only was the food delicious, but they decorated our table with balloons and floral arraingements. Their hospitality not only met our expectations, but exceeded them.

    "In this day in age it is not that expensive to have a decent size TV in your room, a portable on a table that is to low for you to watch it correctly in bed is just not good enough. I would also think about freeview box as the reception is not that great" (3304510792)

    The location was really lovely overlooking the Firth of Forth.Staff were very friendly and helpful.Meals were exellent

    "We have stayed at the Balcomie Links Hotel on three occassions and have always been happy with the way we have been treated. The staff are friendly, and the food is always to a high standard. When staying in Fife I would always stay at the Balcomie and won`t leave it as long till we go again." (3304313388)

    The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and has not changed ( which is a good thing) in the past 10 years.

    Nothing, we have stayed there before on 3 occassions and enjoy the local people and the area.

    "We had booked a family room which was on the top floor. There was no lift and we found it quite a haul up the stairs with our suitcases, which as we were on holiday for a week in more than one place, were heavy. There was also a building site next door to the hotel on to which our bedroom window looked out. This created a lot of dust which meant we were unable to open the window. Also the site traffic woke us in the morning." (2566853)

    Easy ample parking. Good value for money.

    Low fat option for breakfast. More breakfast selection in general. No evening meal menu on view, either at the dining room or at reception.
