    Staff were absolutely super. helpful and with a GSOH

    Bedroom a bit tired but then so was I so didn't really mind..had to search for the coffee making things in the bedroom...the light for the mirror in the bedroom not really good enough for me to do my hair..my son said his bedroom wasn't all that marvellous but he will sleep anywhere..

    Very friendly helpful staff. Wonderful buffet breakfast. Much appreciated complimentary toiletries in the bathroom, wine, fruit, water and newspaper etc.

    A dedicated marked power point to plug in the kettle would be a good idea, as would the provision of a toilet brush in the bathroom.

    Excellent location - short walk to Harrogate city centre and easy access to Ripon. Friendly and helpful staff. Surprisingly quiet for the size of the hotel and the number of guests. Pleasant garden surroundings and some beautiful period features. Good breakfast and large carpark.

    Paintwork / decor a bit tired and dated in places.

    Well situated - only a short walk into the centre. Staff were very welcoming on arrival. the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and again the staff were very pleasant and tables quickly cleared.

    Very good value for money comfortable nice hotel.

    Only one bad point that was down to a couple in a room opposite where there was a disturbance as a row was ongoing for over an hour. This was in no way any fault of the Hotel

    Very friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable room. Very quiet despite there being a large wedding party one evening.

    Hotel is old and beginning to look a bit drab. It is such a large building it is difficult to see any quick change happening. Evening meal - a carvery - very poor ! we only stayed in one evening and ate out the other evenings.Ungarnished tasteless turkey, a stew that look like "sick" and ( the best !!! ) a Tuna steak with prawns. small choice of vegetables. Parking was a bit of a problem as the grounds had been used for an exhibition, however there was plenty of space albeit on grass ( wet )

    Good location, excellent staff, ample car parking (although the booking confirmation stated it would be very imited due to improvement works).

    Uncomfortable (small double) bed; no extractor fan in bathroom; bathroom was carpeted and it was noticeably stained in front of the toilet bowl; hotel condition generally a lttle 'jaded'; noticeable odour especially in corridors - staff seen spraying strong air freshener on several occasions; several broken window panes (entrance area, stairwell) some of wich had been 'repaired' with sellotape.

    Food and helpful staff

    Heavy rain caused the car park to flood in places due to blocked drains. During the four days no attept to clear them was made.

    shower facilities not great havent seen a mixer tap in a hotel for a while and would have liked the shower to go higher. poor tv facilities.No double glazing ,window drafty and rattly.

    Large hotel. Plenty of historical interest and loads of character. Slightly faded grandeur - but for us, that's a plus point! Near to town centre. Pleasant staff.

    Parking slightly tricky- car park was full. Whilst twin room was good, light and airy, double room was a bit shabby and dark. Definitely a lottery! Bathrooms needed slight attention. Long corridors were slightly reminiscent of 'The Shining'.

    Beautiful ground floor public areas. Good standard single room. Friendly & helpful staff. Plenty of car parking space.

    Upper corridors require repainting.

    The bed should have been a double, I am 5.3" and my feet were "hanging off the bed". The room was the size of a box room, next to the service lifts, very noisy and busy; the room was at the front of the hotel so first thing in the morning we could hear the bottles being emptied. Overall very disappointing and won't be staying again.

    room cool lock to door not paticularly strong door old and ill fitting felt this to be a security risk as a woman on her own window opened by staff during day while I was out room next to fire escape felt this was not safe

    Good size room, breakfast good, system for key drop-off and collection goo. Staff polite and friendly

    Corridors very tatty, carpet in dining room also tatty. In bathroom the shower was hard to get a good flow of medium hot water and there was nothing to hold onto when getting out of the bath - very difficult for more elderly people.

    "Adequate as a base for persons just wanting a hotel to sleep and have a shower but i would of been horrified if I had been staying at the hotel for a 1 or 2 week stay! Hotel looks very nice upon arrival but behind the scenes, the hotel really does need redecoration." (108059410)

    breakfast choice was very good

    hotel corridors need decorating, room needed decorating, carpet in places on corridors covered in tape to cover holes / damage. Toilet didn't flush very well. Considering there were two persons staying in the room, there were only biscuits and drinks sachets for one on both days. One member of staff rather abrupt and rude but this was challenged at the time of the event.

    Everyone very polite, yet friendly. Requests were actioned very quickly. The dancing - by guests - in the lounge was lovely! Pianist very knowledgable about the history of the hotel.

    We were a little confused where we could eat - didn't know whether the menu in the room was for the restuarant or just the bar. Couldn't see a restuarant menu (although we didn't ask). However, the staff were very helpful and made us feel very much at ease with our daft questions! The smoking area at the front door was a little off-putting - every time we entered or left the hotel, it was through a cloud of smoke; as non-smokers, that was not very pleasant.

    Fabulous accommodation, pleasant stay, value for money, breakfast choice was superb, staff were very friendly, helpful and profesional. I will definately visit again.

    The accomodation corridors could do with a lick of paint- just tidying up however it is noticeable that the hotel is under going refurbishment so I'm sure this will be done soon.
