    excellent facilities at the hotel and lovely views

    prob due to my own fault having booked over 13 rooms for my daughters wedding there was some confusion with guests being allocated the wrong rooms however it all worked out ok

    Value for money and a lovely relaxing break. Staff really made you feel welcome.

    For it to be weekend checkin was very poor, to book into our room it took 30 mins as personally our thoughts there wasn't enough staff.

    lovely lobby with fireplace, great location by the mountains, view from pool to sea is amazing, amazing spa! great breakfast! extremely professional staff

    car park should be at the rear of the property so uninteruppted view to sea from hotel public rooms no 'riverdance' music at breakfast please!

    "I thought the overall stay was satisfactory, the new swimming pool and spa where fantastic as were the showers and changing facilities to the swimming area. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and most had a nice smile for you when they greeted you in the morning and afternoon which was very nice. I would have liked to know if the room had a view of any kind." (99912827)

    The room was very clean and large enough for a twin room and all the facilities in the room were very satisfactory.

    I thought the next door rooms were a little noisy when using their bathrooms.

    Everything! The room was very comfortable with all the extras needed (hairdryer, kettle etc.). The location of the hotel is great with fabulous views. The facilities were excellent and we really enjoyed the steam room.

    "Pleasantly surprised by quality of hotel, due to well designed refurbishment. We had intended to play golf as there is a Championship golf course beside the hotel and had asked for this in the application. When we arrived, it was obvious that nothing had been done about this and we were told that the hotel just happened to be beside the golf course and was not connected. In the morning a more helpful member of the reception staff made a booking for us with the professional's shop at the golf course (to be fair, it would not have been open on the previous evening) and all worked well. But it seemed odd that the golf should be advertised with the hotel and yet the hotel did not seem to offer any easy connection with the course." (99567106)

    "It was a lovely hotel and a joy to stay in. The staff were exceptionally helpful - particularly Diane on Reception. We were made feel as if our custom was of real value and nothing seemed too much trouble. Food was very tasty and cleanliless of rooms was good.Setting is magnificent. Unfortunately we had two poor nights sleep due to functions held in the hotel and guests leaving the car park or returning to their rooms but in fairness very few Hotels can eliminate noisy guests. Again it may be worth saying in your online blurb that functions are on at weekends and can be noisy so that guests can apply well in advance for a room away from the festivities." (99462241)

    Beautiful Hotel with some delightful rooms to sit in and visit. Very gracious, old-world atmosphere married with modern facilities and equipment. Spa was a real treat.

    "Hotel fresh from refurbishment with excellent spa. Prices in hotel very expensive. Good choice of items at breakfast but hot plate items not exactly hot or tasty. Reported bulb in room blown but not fixed. Shower and hand basin water luke warm. A poor view from the room window looking over what looked like the vents from the kitchens and the air conditioning units. Also looked over discarded take away cartons on top of the roof area.(had requested a sea view.) Room windows not very clean." (99054904)

    Poor view from room - a view of kitchens or whatever and not the lovely Mourne Mountains or Irish Sea.

    "THE ADVERTISING ON THIS HOTEL LEADS ONE TO EXPECT AN EXCEPTIONAL STANDARD. THE BREAKFAST WAS POOR RUN OUT OF TOAST FRIED EGGS LIKE RUBBER. ON CHECKING OUT THERE WAS ONLY ONE MEMBER OF STAFF WHO WAS ON THE PHONE I WAS TOTALLY BY TWO OTHER MEMBER OF STAFF WHO WERE BEHIND THE RECEPTION COUNTER CHATTING. 20 MINUTES IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE WAIT ESPECIALLY AS I WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A 7 YEAR OLD. THERE WAS ALSO A LOT OF WORK GOING ON WHICH GUESTS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF BEFORE BOOKING.A VERY OVER RATED HOTEL" (3305248754)

    My room was clean and well laid out

    My room was adjacent to kitchen fans and was therefore very noisy. It did not have a view. I should have been told it was noisy and given a chance to change. I also would have liked a view

    "We arrived as guests at a wedding. On arrival we were upgraded to a suite overlooking the sea which was a bonus. The standard of the suite was very high with all amenities necessary for a pampered night. The bed was one of the biggest I've ever seen ! The staff were friendly and helpful, the lounge where we relaxed and had a drink was bright and comfortable. The wedding reception went vey well and the fabulous breakfast buffet the following morning went part way to restoring our fragile selves. I would definately return to this hotel" (3304842913)

The food at the wedding was lovely and the breakfast the next morning was not the greasy breakfast that you usual;y get served at other establishments!     The entrance to the hotel and reception area were beautiful.

    The room we stay in looked out onto the work that is being completed at the moment (which wasn't really that bad) but it was quite noisy the next morning.

    "We had a very positive experience at the Slieve Donard. The staff was very accommodating and the room was larger than most we stayed in during our stay in Ireland. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only suggestion I will make is there needs to be more signs directing someone to the hotel from the main roads. We arrived after dark and had some trouble locating the hotel. I'm sure if we had arrived during the day it would have been easier to locate. The map we used led us to believe you were further south of Newcastle. All in all it was an excellent stay and we would definitely stay again if we ever get the opportunity to return to Ireland."     Our accommodations were immaculate and the breakfast was more than anyone could ask for. I only wish we could have stayed longer but we were trying to see as much of Ireland as we could see in the short amout of time we had. Ireland was everything I had dreamed it would be and more.

    I have nothing negative to say about the accommodations.

    The construction work outside our room started about 7.30am. This was a bit disappointing being woken up by chainsaws when we had arrived late the night before

    "The hotel setting is fantastic. The entrance of the hotel is quite breathtaking and welcoming. Our room had a fantastic view however, a couple of small details which were not worth complaining about, stopped it from being perfect! Most staff were friendly and helpful.     "If the hotel had a better discount for wedding quests. Some quests had paid a very much lower price though the internet than the hotet's discount price. I had already known about the alternations though the local press, but if booking with guests with limited mobilty it would be necessary to check up about convient car parking and ground floor rooms. For the one night we where there we were pleased with our accommodation and the function faclities." (3304388265)

    the general appearanceof the hotel. It is being generally updated at the moment so some of our friends were abit dissappointed with their rooms. The staff were very helpful in sorting the problem. Plenty of helpful staff both in the function room and the bar. The function meal was excellent. The location in Newcastle co down is excellent for touring.

    the price basically but it is a 4star hotel and as it was a special occassion the quality was acceptable.

    I asked for an iron and ironing board. was promised, on several occasions it would be delivered to my room but to no avail. i never received them. had to wear the same shirt for work that i'd had on the previous day. i find this level of service unacceptable. a travel inn could do better!
