    owner very friendly no other staff as we were only ones in hotel,rooms very spacouis ours had a sitting room,plenty teas & coffees etc.

    fixtures and fittings needing updating but all functional

    "The hotel is a cheerful shambles of rooms and corridors presided over by the owners who offered a real Highland welcome. Their dog Rusty joined in. Our visit was to attend a family funeral and our needs were met sympathetically. We had three nights of good conversation at the bar with an eclectic mix of locals and residents. An enjoyable stay."     Good location, easy to find in very pleasant village. Helpful and welcoming people. Great "stick to the ribs" breakfasts.

    "Hmm... We spent the following evening at Grant Arms Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey. For only five pounds more, we were treated to the best evening and morning service and accommodations we could have imagined. Perhaps that says it all." (108842039)

    Had a good conversation with the proprietors.

    The carpets smelled like urine and alcohol, and had the appearance of not being cleaned or vacuumed in over a week. Internet access was antiquated and difficult to access. One ethernet wire had to be shared by three different rooms, not including the proprietors' daughter. The ethernet cable was located in the bar/lounge, the door to which was locked in the mid-morning hours. The floor was wavy, with the floorboards below the carpets warped and soft. The morning breakfast was adequate, but customers had to wait in the hallway for tables to be available as others finished their meal. The feeling was that we had to hurry with our meal so that others could have a seat. In the middle of our meal, the proprietor asks us to move our plates and cups to another table so a larger party could sit at our table.

    bon petit dejeuner

    le hall d'entrée n'était pas propre et avait une odeur nauséabonde (mélange d'alcool, de cigarettes et de saleté). Sur les deux chambres, la première aurait été correcte si elle avait été néttoyée correctement et si la douche avait fonctionnée; la seconde était délabrée et une odeur pestinentielle y régnait. Si le petit déjeuner était bon, la vaisselle n'était pas propre (la cafetière pas nettoyée depuis un bon moment).On peut croiser dans le couloir des hommes saouls car le bar se trouve au même niveau que les chambres.

    "IT WAS FINE CONSIDERING WE WERE ONLY IN THE ROOM FOR ABOUT 6 HOURS EACH NIGHT." (108925122)

    VERY ACCOMODATING OWNERS, WE WERE WORKING AT A LOCAL MUSIC FESTIVAL AND THE OWNERS STAYED UP EACH NIGHT TO LET US IN THE HOTEL AS THE FRONT DOOR LOCK WAS NOT WORKING.

    HOTEL A BIT TIRED AND WORN OUT LOOKING.CLEAN, LAUNDERED SHEETS BUT A VERY ODD MIXTURE OF BED LINEN..ROOMS REALLY NEED UPDATING

    "Our first reaction on arriving was to turn around and walk back out due to decor/smell but we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. We shouldn't have, none of us could sleep all night and we didn't dare eat the breakfast we had paid for. The dog smell and dog hairs put us off." (107228512)

    Owners were very welcoming, open and friendly.

    Overall decor shabby at best, Strong dog smell was unbearable. The lounge wasn't useable due to the smell and dog saliva all over the place on seats etc.

    Homely, friendly atmosphere, and altogether extremely relaxed. Very spacious bedrooms. Guests are regarded as one of the family. Excellent food. The owners are a well-established and highly respected couple, and keen to please.

    If there were any bad points worth mentioning, I wouldn't go back there.

    The staff were very helpful and friendly, exellent service. The breakfast was tastful.

    Smell of old (and new?)sigarettsmoke in non-smokingroom(s). Cleanliness of the hotel could be better. The order of the bathroom/toilet could also be better.

    "On my arrival at around 2.50 in the afternoon, there was no access to the hotel. The door was locked, no-one answered the bell, and no-one answered the phone. Once I gained access (around 4.00pm) I really disliked the smoky atmosphere, which was evident even in the bedroom. I found the hotel owners rather surly and unhelpful." (97883626)

    A very good location, in the centre of a most attractive small town.

    Apalling smoky atmosphere in the lobby, stairs and bar areas - obviously stale smoke from a couple of years ago.

    "If you are looking for a 4 star hotel in a cosmopolitan city then the Caledonian isn't what you want but if you are looking for warm Scottish hospitality then this charming hotel has it in abundance.     It was like staying at your aunt and uncle's in the middle of a hectic vacation. The Owner's were very warm, helpful and accommodating.

    "The hotel was an unassuming place in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed the laid back bar and talking to the locals. The dinner individually cooked for us despite our late arrival was excellent and the breakfast next morning equally so.     "The hotel was more a b and b than a hotel and I got the imperrsion the oweners preferred you to be out all day and then return on the night time. In a hotel i prefur to come and go as i please. Otherwise there is nothing I can't really find fault with, overall a good stay" (99043755)

    It is a most cheepest hotel in this standard in Inverketing area. The village is very pleasure. I saw every close place and I mean it is the best place to stay wen someone wont go to this area.

    Poor public comunikation.

    "the hotel looked a little drab in appearance,however our room was clean,tidy ,even had a small private sitting room -which was a nice extra. the meal we had there was excellent. although a liitle drab we were told a repaint is being planned. only shower was working at moment-but did operate to our satisfaction overall a pleasant experience" (3304380840)
