    Perfect location close to town centre. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Attractive decor

    Toilet plumbing inadequate. Bedroom quite small with lack of cupboard space (although travelling companions had spacious room). Safe didn't work. Wake-up call didn't happen.

    Hotel is well located with very nice features. Staff are friendly and welcoming and food was very nice.

    Hotel was undergoing renovation work which we hadn't been made aware of at the time of booking. We were advised of this at check in and also the staff apologised in advance for the dust which was everywhere, however the work wasn't noisy or disruptive in any way to our stay. The Hotel rooms were however very warm even though the heating wasn't on and the bedroom window was open. We were awoken early by the noise of other bedroom doors slamming shut as the door closing mechanisms had not been set properly and also by other clients leaving early and wheeling suitcases over the cobbles and flag stones to the car park. The bathroom was clean and adequate but the water pressure from the shower was quite lacking.

    Nice, clean hotel. Although only 3 minute walk from the centre of Abingdon, the hotel is located in a quiet area on the banks of the Thames.

    Lovely location, nice room

    FOOD - Dreadful. Main course consisted of a chicken breast in the middle of the plate. No staff around, whole hotel seemed to be run by 3 staff. No one to complain to.

    Ample parking, well-signposted, efficient check-in, very clean room, good tea/coffee making facilities, two bottles of water provided - still and sparkling, good toileteries, comfortable and spacious room, lovely food, relaxing places to sit indoors and in the gardens, perfect for Thames walk.

    Room hot, no air-conditioning so opened all the windows, and in doing so one of the catches broke! Room doors banging shut distubed us. Receptionist and restaurant staff very efficient but could have been a bit friendlier and smiled more!

    views from room good. Room and hotel had a feel good factor

    smokers allowed to smoke directly outside reception enterance door. so walking through big clouds of exhailed smoke to enter hotel. Not the best way to start the stay. Suggest putting an ash tray stand to the side of the door + a sign.

    Clearly a shortage of staff. Long wait to be served in the restaurant and to check out. Directions to hotel poor. Bathroom very small.

    Excellent service from very polite and helpful staff. Spacious, clean, well-presented and nicely furnished room and hotel facilities. Breakfast with wide choice of dishes, good ingredients and perfectly cooked & presented. £10 3-course dinner offer seemed very good value (we had arranged to dine with friends elsewhere).

    In town. Good secure parking. Very pretty building from outside, on banks of River Thames. Excellent breakfast choice.

    Dinner only average quality. Staff very willing but not well trained. Wine poured staight from the bottle without a pre-taste and had to ask for cooler. Wine in the bar was only available in small screw top bottles, £4.95. Decor in corridors is tatty, worn carpets, ripped and marked wallpaper, etc.

    Key card had to be reset at least 3 times, as it wouldn't always unlock the room door.

    "I had been at the hotel some twenty years ago when I had lunch with my grandparents and it was was owned by Forte. Yhe decor was actually lovely and the dining area was spacious and really hightlighted the wheel. I don't particularly like the layout as it is. It is too modern for the age of the building and doesn't do it justice. It is too modern, the leather chairs are far too uncomfortable and too many of them in the dining/bar area. A shame because the rooms are lovely as is the food. The waiting staff could look a little more professional ie they looked extremely scruffy and i suggest their uniforms could do with an iron. Is is really necessary to put on loud music over breakfast. Why or why do hotels do this. It is dreadful as is having the tv blaring all evening and early morning - again if people wanted to watch breakfast TV as early as 7.30 Sunday morning, they could watch it in their rooms - no one was looking and again totally unecessary. But I was truly disappointed over the decor and I think you need to re- visit this area. Not quite a boutique hotel, which is what I think they are trying to achieve, but failed miserably" (107370855)

    Excellent breakfast a wonderful choice, in fact the best breakfast I have had in a hotel for a very long time. Well done

    My only criticism was that the bedroom was dreadfully hot and I could have turned the radiator off at night if I have been told by reception that the heating remain on during the night. I do think you should review this, as it made me feel quite unwell and I didn't realise that I could turn the radiator off and in the early hours of the morning, once is not awake enought to do that

    Breakfast was very salty and warm - not hot. The music in the restaurant was to loud and inapproporiate for a sunday morning breakfast. Management refused to turn or tone it down when requested! The trouser press did not work and the location of the electric kettle point was impractical to use

    Very nice rooms in a hotell lovely situated in Abingdon. The surroundings are really nice with all the old buildings.

    Good size, comfortable rooms. Very nice hotel & setting. Good breakfast. Free parking.

    Although the hotel was able to provide a cot they did not have highchairs. The bedroom window only had venetian blinds so let alot of light in. The shower had a lethal habit of changing temperature while you were in it - both ice cold & burning.

    "Outlook across the river was excellent except that on our visit there was a fun fair in conjunction with the dragon boat races on the river which meant it as very noisy. Without that it would have been very pleasant. I would not book a river view room again if that fair was scheduled. Breakfast was fine and tasty. Bar sufficient for the purpose including sports TV. Convenient location for the river and town. Also not far from Oxford City if you are visiting." (97035062)

    Attractive room with all the essentials. Comfortable and efficient.

    Hard to open main windows which were locked and ventilation from small windows insufficient on a warm day. No in room safe.

    Room was lovely - clean, comfortable and well appointed. Recently refurbished?

    On the night we stayed the hotel was very quiet - cannot imagine why as standard so high yet so reasonably priced. Not being able to eat in the bar only the restaurant as the bar menu looked very tasty!!

    "Very picturesque setting. It would have been nice to have more information in the room regarding the town. The local book provided did not give the visitor any help. Breakfast finished serving at 9.30am which if you're on a romantic break can be a bit early. However on phoning reception a lovely breakfast (full english) appeared extremely quickly. Did not have dinner in the hotel as on the Sunday we were there the menu seam a bit light and there is within walking distance some very nice eating places, Italian, Indian and Chinese.     The main area of the hotel has lots of character in keeping with the age of the property. The rooms in some of the hotel are much more modern. The staff were very accommodating and helpful

    Ease of Access to Town centre, onsite parking. Room had an excellent view of the river.

    Equipment in room, not fully functional i.e TV. TV picture on most stations poor. Fittings in bathroom hard to establish which was hot/cold without switching on!.

    "Our weekend stay was very enjoyable. We were greeted warmly by the receptionist who took our order for newspapers and offered to book us for evening meal. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated and contained armchairs and tea & coffee making facilities, iron and hairdryer There were plenty of towels and compementary toiletries but we both could have done with an extra pillow even after using the cushons. These could of been obtained from reception (we presume), but once in bed it would have been an effort. We spent our days and evenings with our son who lives nesrby and on return were offered, at reception, the oportunity to have a drink in the hotel bar/lounge - which we did. As it was past midnight we were pleased to be offered this facility which is not always available in other hotels. The bar service was good and once again we were pleased with the friendliness of staff. The breakfast was good value and was served promptly and pleasantly." (99633418)

    "The hotel is in a lovely setting, the staff cannot do enough for you and the breakfast was great. We booked our rooms online and get a very good deal, although for the room we had, I would have been unwilling to pay more. If I were to book again, I would enquire about the size of the window in the room. It is important to have adequate daylight during a stay. Unfortunately, though, we probably won't go again, simply because the walls are too thin, at least in the room we were in. This prevented us from getting a good night's sleep, which is a big factor hen considering where to stay." (99239270)

    The staff were fantastic. I was staying with my seven year old Son and the reception and dining staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great.

    The room had such a small window that we had to keep the main light on during the day, which wasn't so good (though I'm sure if we had asked for another room we would have been given one). Also the walls were paper thin. This became a problem because my Son was ill in the night and consequently we got little sleep. However, we were woken at 6.40 the next morning by a door being closed in the corridor outside. We then had to amuse ourselves knowing that we were probably waking the people in the next room as well!
