    Friendly helpful staff. Clean hotel with a good atmosphere.

    Not enough car parking space.

    The room was excellant, Staff very helpful and friendly. The food very good. You couldn't really fault the facilities.

    £10 car parking fee. As a disabled driver I don't think this should be charged but as we got the room for £68.00 it wasn't too bad. If I had to pay higher room rate I would think twice about staying because of parking fee.

    Hotel very well situated in the centre of Stratford. We were visiting to go to the theatre, and it is very easy walking distance from the hotel. All the main restarants, cafes and the river are on the doorstep. About 10 to 15 minutes walk from the train station. Very comfortable bed, nice bathroom, everything clean and well looked after. Room was reasonably quiet and dark at night - we both slept well. Pleasant lounge. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel or use any of the other facilities.

    Room a little bit small, but in compensation the beds were very big and comfortable! You wouldn't want to spend much time in the room, but there is a very spacious lounge, and we wanted to be out and about anyway.

    "Lovely place and hotel, a wonderful contrast to busy London. And a visit to the RSC is a must, as is one of the sightseeing bus tours if you get a live guide - really brings the past to life and worth the cash." (107322606)

    Brilliant location and an amazing building. Room was great - quaint tiny windows and extremely comfy. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

    fire alarm kept going on and off for an hour on the friday,faulty display panel. Staff were very apologetic.We were booking out at the time anyway

    Pleasant overall appearance, relaxing lounge, convenient location

    Room, particularly bathroom, seemed in need of attention.. e.g. hook off of back of door, stained waste bin lid, maintenance man arrived soon after my arrival needing to attend to smoke alarm in bedroom. Either room or hotel might have some sort of 'early cup of coffee' facility for early checkout..possibly set ot on table near desk

    "We had an over all pleasant stay and would return. The staff were very friendly and the general atmosphere was relaxed yet not over-friendly. " (107575120)

    Bedroom was cold during the night, and bathroom very cold. Bed was not the most comfortable, and the room suffered from the fact it had been a smoking room. This is a common problem in hotels, I have found, since the ban. As a non smoker where a non smoking room used to be just that now it is often a former smoking room and therefore not as pleasant.

    Parking, and the tv reception was not too good.

    "We were unable to have a glass of wine on return from theatre. Only offered tea or coffee although we were asked if we wanted anything to eat. Apparently the bar was closed and therefore no drinks were available. We enjoy sitting with our friends who come with us and discussing the evening's performance over a drink. I found this surprising. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and will probably come again." (97185406)

    Bed comfortable. Bathroom good. Lounge comfortable. Breakfast excellent.

    Blankets-would have preferred duvets. Central heating not on. Room fairly cold.

    Beautiful, homely decor, room was perfect and well manitained.

    Staff took three attempts to get my vegetarian breakfast order correct; no big deal, but he didn't seem to be paying attention to what I was actually requesting. A minor niggle.

    "Exellent value for money as price included evening meal for 2 and breakfast which offered an execellent continental and full english. Restaurant was taking last bookings up until 9.15pm and a good range of bar food was available throughout the day. Tea and coffee facilties in room including a mini bar, room service also available upon request. Room also had ironing facilities and a hairdryer. Overall I have to say hotel and facilities were excellent." (97284821)

    Rooms were large and comfortble. Restaurant exceptional breakfast and evening meal. Staff friendly and helpful but not overley or in your face every 5 minutes. Location excellent.

    More carparking space would have been better.

    "The breakfast really let this hotel down, we had a full english breakfast, but it looked as if it had been cooked about half an hour before and it tasted as if it had been cooked in stale fat. On our second morning we went to Vintners in Sheep Street just round the corner from the hotel and had a glorious breakfast at a fraction of the cost. Other then the breakfast, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and is in a good location." (97544283)

    The room was clean and spacious. The hotel's location is very central and within easy walking distance of the the local attractions

    The parking, the car park is very small. Make sure you get the code for the barrier before you move your car.

    "We have stayed at the shakespeare many times before and always had a great stay. A very characterful hotel with a lovely relaxed feel to it. It is ideally placed in the centre of stratford which is great for making the best out of a short break." (97323042)

    "The staff and cleanliness of the hotel was superb. Restaurant was good with great presentation of food and a fair choice of menu. The lounge/bar service was really great which meant we could just sit by the open fire and get drinks without leaving our seats. Our room was comfortable and warm and well decorated - although a little on the small side for 2 nights. Pets were allowed and it was very homely seeing a dog asleep in front of the fire! Ideally located for the shops, river and theatre." (97841713)

    The Hotel had an olde world charm and lovely open fires in the lounges

    The room was a little small and we couldn't park as carpark was full

    This is a characterful and elegant hotel, very convenient for the centre of Stratford.

    Room was on ground floor by car park - not very private. The bathroom was in poor repair and not very clean. The hotel car park was full so we had to park in an NCP which was a 5 minute walk away - lucky it wasn't raining! The late checkout did not work and we were locked out of our room.

    "As mentioned above, facilities a bit tired or not working the receptionist tried everything to help and was great. I was disappointed that our room arrangements were not met as our requirements were asked for at the time of booking. The location was great." (97049707)

    The receptionist at check-in was fantastic

    We had booked a family room but unfortunatly, the room was too small for an extra bed so we had a second room. The televisions in both rooms did not work.

    "I can honestly say that The Shakespeare Hotel is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. It oozes atmosphere with its oak beams and log fires. It is warm, comfortable and has that special feel good factor. The cuisine is of the highest standard, the staff friendly and efficient. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and am looking forward to an early return visit. 10/10" (97388311)

    Comfortable, with attractive decor. Very accessible to centre of Stratford.

    Noisier than I expected. The dining room was quite cool: I understand that reurbishment of the windows is the cause of the problem, but it ought to have been possible to use supplementary heating.

    Friendly & helpful staff; comfortable room; excellent food; welcoming open fire.

    Limited space in room for clothes (hanging space but no drawers); en suite facilities were clean but somewhat 'tired'; we had to lodge a complaint as one of the breakfast waiters was rude to us.

    "Excellent period character hotel with brilliant position within Stratford - ideal for tourists. Food very good quality. Parking adequate but tight. Some noise from street during night and actual bedsize was obviously for very small Elizabethans ! Great breakfast and hotel busy with those visiting theatre.     "Lovely friendly staff couldnt help enough they even leant us an umbrella for the rain ! Good food in the David Garrick restaurant unfortunately not large quantities for large appetites but beautifully served.     lovely quaint room with a large bathroom beautifully clean room could have been larger and as a twin we found it quite small, a quiet room was requested, we were placed at the rear of the hotel which was lovely and quiet considering the hotel is in a central location

    towel rail did not work in bathroom this was put right on the second request on the second day it would have been nice if the hotel had repaired it straight away

    "This hotel was run so efficently I requested to see the General Manager (Mr R Voss) and had to complement him on his organisation and the way he ran the hotel. I stay in Stratford upon Avon up to 20 times a year, will now be a regular at this top class hostelrie" (97915487)

    Public rooms and location were good

    Room was noisy (overlooking main road with pubs and associatd noise). Room was also very cramped and aircon did not work so room became vey hot.
