    Excellent pool - my 7 year old enjoyed her Sunday morning swim. Breakfast was very good.

    Breakfast waitresses could try smiling once in a while and the table had a wobble. The room was a little overheated.

    The staff are lovely and the leisure activities are superb.

    Corridor carpets need replacing and the gloss paint on the corridors to bedrooms needs a refurb.

    Good powerful hot shower. Room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast which was included in our stay was excellent. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful.

    Double bed at 4ft wide is a little narrow for a good nights sleep and rather soft. The main light in the room was not working, but we didnt bother to report this as it wasnt that important.

    good room and facilities clean and well situated polite and friendly hotel staff

    restaraunt staff could do with some retraining unhappy that our milk jug was taken from a recently vacated table and a member of staff was seen by us emptying milk from vacated tables into a jug to be reused they were also quite unfriendly and not very helpful although in their defence they were very busy

    Evening meal in restaurant was reasonably priced and good food - nice atmosphere.

    There was chewing gum stuck to the toilet rim and the empty packet left in the room. The cleaners shouting down the corridor at 7am with no respect for sleeping guests (outside room 134 close to their kitchen area). At breakfast in the very dark dining area, we were ignored by several staff for at least ten minutes and eventually had to ask for coffee. The hotel's own website was much more expensive than a comparative website's price, which I ended up booking through (£55 per night as opposed to £70 per night).

    Well fitted room (think it was the bridal suite from traces of confetti and canopy over bed). Excellent all in price.

    Bathroom small but shower clearly made for two! Wardrobe unit clearly cheap flatpack with peeling lamitate. Asked for easy access ground floor room - but given furthest room from reception and up a few stairs. Not a major issue for me, but someone with more disability would struggle. Some breakfast items not fully cooked through, suggesting expectation that they would continue cooking in bain-marie.

    Obvious that the rooms have had a 'lick of paint' rather than a full refurbishment.

    Overall this is the best Hotel I've stayed in. It has everything for the for solo business traveller.

    Internet Access not available in the room allocated. I mentioned this to reception and immediately they found another room.

    Location was convenient, staff on the reception were helpful & friendly & overall it was reasonably good value for money

    Given that the hotel has been refurbished & its star rating I expected a higher standard of decor and modernity. Reception is cluttered & corridors are drab & uninviting (almost cell like)& rooms need decorating & room furniture needs modernising (covered chairs were grimey). Staff at restaurant & at breakfast weren't well mannered or attentive.

    "Not good. Definately wouldn't stay at Sporting Lodge again. Regardless of the cheap rate, I expect cleanliness, a comfortable bed, a smoke free room/hotel and somewhere comfortable to eat/drink. Terrible hotel. **I emailed the GM direct and have yet to receive a reply**" (107607070)

    It was only one night stay

    Smelly, stale odours in the bedroom corridors caused by the smoking rooms. I requested a non-smoking room and was allocated a smoking room later to find out there were non-smoking rooms avail when my colleague arrived later. Poor quality & drab decor. Worst bed I've EVER slept in, - no padding, bare springs, total lack of comfort, hardly slept. Miserable restaurant & bar staff. Bar closed at 2300hrs. Restaurant area dark, stuffy with no natural light or fresh air.

    Check in was efficeint the same with booking out, the sporting facility was very good and the staff helpfull, plenty of car parking, Breakfast was very good and hot.

    Our evening meal was a long time coming although there was another function on at the time,

    The WLAn was flaky , the service was not consistent , this was frustrating, I appreciate it is free, but i would rather pay if it means it would be 100% reliable.

    Good sports facilities free to guests

    Poor meal choice in bar No snack type meals ie sandwiches etc available. I had a steak which I had to send back as being tough and underdone. Also cauliflour cheese was cold and poor quality

    the room that we were put in was a very shabby, and smelly smoking room on the ground floor close to a REALLY loud disco, we requested a non smoking room when we booked.

    The room was of a good standard,and was clean.Staff very helpful. Breakfast was very good, and plenty of choices to pick from your selection of menu. Also breakfast was served until 11am on a Sunday morning. Good parking area. Use of swimming pool and amenities.

    Disco music too loud!! The function room needs to be sound proof so other guest can have an undisturbed nights sleep after a long journey. The music kept us awake until 12.30am.

    Stranger came into the room in the middle of the night where my wife, myself and 16 month infant were sleeping. The reception gave me the key for room 138 but on the system booked me into 117 and so room 138 appeared to be vacate. Total inconpetence. I booked a room with a cot which did not appear until later in the day. We asked for a blanet for the cot, it never appeared. When I paid the bill I requested a discount on the night of the intruder which we finally did not have to pay for. The bill we paid turned out to have a bar bill of GBP 18 for drinks we we never had but obiviously the other man allocated room 138 had. All round a very poor experience and one I will not re4peat with your hotel. I booked

    Spacious room, with pleasant view over gardens at rear of hotel. Sufficient parking, even at busy times of the day. Convenient access to main roads, but hotel did not suffer from traffic noise.

    Windows in poor condition - did not slide properly on their runners. Mattress far too soft - due to a chronic back condition I prefer a reasonably firm mattress.
