    bad smell,leaking toilet, very noisy until early hours, beds very uncomfortable, came home with at least 12 bites all over me

    Absolutely hideous experience! Diabolical in fact! The welcome was very unwelcoming. The room was a disgrace, the cleanliness was nil! The bathroom was basically a portaloo in the corner of an already small room!

    Could not positively confirm my booking when I rang on 02.11.09 without Active Hotels booking ref & pin-code. This info sheet was already tightly packed away in my case and not immediately accessible. Room was broom-cupboard small and very run-down. Heating turned up high could not be adjusted - old fashioned sash-window was already pushed halfway up to counteract stifling heat. Bed cover badly stained and whole room had dingy appearance. Breakfast was a disaster: 4 Indian males and two middle European females milled around doing nothing except gabble, whilst the hotel-guest fumbled around with self service tea,etc. "Orange marmalade" was not understood and not available, as was plain bread, but they supplied toast! Keys still bore the legend "Guilford Hotel". Russell Square and civilisation took the length of Guilford St and ten minutes to reach and I was mortified to notice the President Hotel offering a single room for only 10 pounds more than I paid for the Grenville. A huge luxury hotel!

    "I know that although all I needed was a bed for the stay, that I wasn't comfortable in the room I stayed in, or the hotel for that matter, and I wont be booking with ths hotel again." (108466811)

    Room was very small, curtains were hanging off, I hade pipes round my room, the walls were vey thin, my TV didn't work, I wasn't made aware of the breakfast time and as I'm tall I could hardly fit in the excuse that was the washing facilities.

    television not working. basement not suitable for single woman, as window could not be safely opened. window should be fitted with bars. very tiny room. very little light. electrical box above bed.

    Clean comfortable double bed, room well equipped.

    Door knocked 3 times BEFORE 11am checkout. En-suite not completely clean, carpet not clean.

    Bed linen was clean, bed was really comfortable

    Room on top floor, up a very steep, narrow staircase, not easy or very safe with a heavy suitcase. Shower was really temperamental, would suddenly turn scalding hot for no reason. The carpet looked like it hadn't been vacumed in a while, lots of little bits on the floor. Also, the tea and coffee making facilities would have greatly benefitted from liquid milk, not powder sachets. Surely UHT is not that much more expensive. Powder milk is bad enough in coffee but is disgusting in tea.

    "As it goes houses are restyled as hotels, creating the maximum amount of rooms as possible without taking into account that these houses were never meant for this purpose... and therefore having problems like the water... I've learned from this experience that I like certain comforts and that I better get used paying the price for it..." (107571083)

    TV couldn't be tuned in properly to have clear screen. I'm environment conscious and if I have to run the hot water tap for 7 minutes (after rasing the issue with reception I was advised to let it run for at least 5) before having the first drop of hot water that is unacceptable. I did however appreciate the call the receptionist made to check if I had warm water at the end. Had breakfast without any imagination...

    no hot water for wash or shower,bathroom very small plastic enclosure in corner of room(smaller than in a caravan) A medium person cannot fit on toilet squarely, a large person would not get into bathroom.breakfast of cheap cereals,fruit juice,two slices of toast per person.saucers not side plates provided.coffee in jar on table then take cup to water urn.everyone sharing tables but still not enough room for all guests.

    Reception tried to get me to cancel my booking a rebook on arrival for a cheaper rate. Questioned their cancellation policy and the fact that i would lose my initial booking fee while pointing out their policy clearly noted on the wall. Reception tried to reasure me the policy was in correct!! Overall felt uncomfortable in a dirty and dated room with no proper lock. I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone in the furture.

    Staff courteous and friendly

    Cold water in shower (unless I had not sussed it out correctly) Bed made in strange manner (top sheet too short so had to remake!) It should be possible to lock the door from inside. No bedside light. This could be easily arranged.

    paid to stay in a room which was tiny, dirty, dropping to bits and cold, i would imagine the homeless people on the streets had a better night sleep than me.

    Staff at the Greenville hotel was very kind and willing to help.

    Cleanliness in the hotel. Poor condition of the heating and bathroom facilities.

    No frills; good value for money. The breakfast is a major bonus. The location, in central London, permits easy access to public transportation. The nearby eateries is another bonus. Wireless internet access was good!

    Failure to transfer my telephone calls after claiming that the reception is manned 24/7. The windows require more insulation to shut out noise.

    A single unsupported member of staff who did everything. She was the only good point. I felt sorry for her. The hotel is below standard. It is such a pity as the location is excellent. I will not stay there again.

One stays here because of the price, but they fall short of their advertising w.r.t. lack of available extra pillows and blankets when requested.     General condition of a house of this age OK. Breakfast service quite good.

    Bathrooms badly maintained with leaking taps and poorly functioning showers and very poorly cleaned. Cups and glasses in rooms need to be properly washed between rentals.

    Friendly staff and willingness to assist

    Very dissapointed with cleanliness generally especially in the room. The towels and sheets were the only clean parts about the room.

    "We never know what to expect from the standard of 'budget' hotel accommodation but as long as you take the London prices into consideration then you won't be too disappointed. The breakfast was very cost driven. Cheap coffee put in Nescafe jar and cheap cereals! Staff very efficient. The comfortable mattress on the bed was only covered by one sheet but another was found in the drawer. We always worry when an old blanket is provided for warmth." (97254625)

    The location was good.

    The room was dirty and the toilet/shower very outdated. Also very noisy at night and breakfast room overcrowded. Breakfast was just white toast or cereal.

    it was meant to be a continental breakfast with the room but it was in the hotel next door but 1 and all we was offered was toast. Cheap coffee in nescafe jars not good and also milk for tea and coffee had lumps in it.
