    "Great hotel if at the front." (107856981)

    Our first stay was in a room overlooking the harbour , and was a very happy experience. The bathroom was good.

    Our second stay was not satisfactory. Our room was at the back , with a tatty bathroom , and cost us more than the first stay ! The rooms at the back should be reduced.

    the shower head did not fit its support and fell off during a shower; one arm of a tap head was poorly screwed on and fell off also; the kettle did not pour well

    thne hotel has an old world quality about it - very welcoming, good food

    I asked for a ground floor romm and received one on the third floor. The floor boards creaked!¬

    "Really relaxing and enjoyable." (107868083)

    Facilities are what you would expect for price. Pay more and upgrade rooms available. Place has charm which is why we have been there 4 times during last 10 years. Breakfast room is great - sea views and early morning sunshine. Great.

    I could not pick a fault with anything.

    "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Churchhill!" (107859698)

    Your registration and front desk staff were excellent!!

    Rooms were too hot but front desk person found us a fan and we opened the windows. Early a.m. breakfast area not staffed with enough people. When we arrived for breakfast, one poor gentleman was trying to handle the breakfast area, serve coffee, and handle the front desk. Way too much for one person to handle.

    "We picked the hotel as a weekend break so that we could visit Dover Castle and not have to worry about driving 2 hours to get home again. A good Valentine's Day break. The package that the hotel offered looked great on paper and considering the hassle of booking restaurants on the 14th, the price seemed reasonable. However, the Churchill hotel seemed ill prepared for the influx of customers on the 14th. Booking in at the hotel seemed fine - parking was great and the location is spot on. But it's all down hill from there. The room iteself was tiny and for nearly £100 per night I felt ripped off from the moment we put opened the room door. The duvet and blanket smelt like wet dogs which was extemely disgusting. But the view out of the window kind of made up for all of this. The main gripe of the stay was the "Valentine's Dinner" that was included in the £130 I paid. We were shown to our table and pretty much left there for 15/20 minutes before I had to leave the table, head to the bar and order a drink. This was the case for every single couple sitting around us. The service was a real shambles - one of the waiter's decided to serve a table with no-one there at one point!!!! The food was ok, I won't pick at that, but it seemed like the hotel just hadn't made the correct provisions to handle the demand for the Valentine package. These were all factors that I was willing to complain about the following morning, but spending the entire night awake as this is the noisiest hotel that I have ever stayed in, I was just too tired to muster the energy.... The constant creaking of floorboards is just too much!! This hotel really needs a good look at. The location is ideal for those looking for a weekend break - but it really needs at lot of work - both structurally and with regards to staff." (107756784)

    Price paid for the room given Dinner service was laughable Hotel could do with some renovating - the floorboards creaked THE ENTIRE TIME, not a great night's sleep!!!

    the girl on reception on the monday 24 march when i checked out. she firstly diturbed me and my fellow guests during breakfast and stood arguing with me over my bill insisting i hadnt paid for any of the breakfasts when it clearly said on my bill i had all but 3 she didnt except this and continued to argue with me . i asked her to leave me to eat my breakfast that had now gone cold so that was a waste of money. she did do this but stormed off with a sarcastic comment im going to get my manager. so i followed her into reception and the hotel manager offered no aplology when i was proven correct and only had to paay for 3 meals and not the 12 the rceptionist was saying. i stay in alot of hotel in my job and have never been spoken to like that i will never stay at that hotel again and think somebody needs to speek to the manager and recptionist to improve their customer skills.

    "It was not pleasant and I would not recommend staying here." (107538364)

    It was close to the Harbor and had good views.

    The bed was hard as a rock. it was hot in our room, we had to keep the window open and the noise from the bar was bad until well after midnight.Plus the lights were glaring. It was like trying to sleep in a bar during the day!

    "I'm glad I did not know that the room was inaccessible and the elevator very slow and small, because if I'd not chosen the room, my husband and I would have missed one of the peak experiences of our trip -- the glory of sitting on that little balcony and taking in the splendid view. I really wish I'd paid more attention to the information about the breakfast not being included. My husband was so shocked by the amount we paid that he still hasn't told me how much it was."     The complete lack of handicapped facilities -- doorway to bathroom was too narrow. The cost of breakfast was exorbitant.

    Old-fashioned hotel in splendid situation; friendly staff; nice dinner and huge breakfast choice.

    Old building with narrow corridors, steps everywhere and tiny rooms. New road layout makes it a little tricky to follow the instructions to get to it.

    Convenient for an early ferry

    On the noisy side of the hotel which meant we could not open the window to counteract the uncontrollable overheating of the room. Result a very poor night's sleep

    "The Churchill has a reputation on the seafront of Dover - we were not expected an old fashioned 3 stars hotel" (97825390)

    Despite its refurbishement The Churchill managed to keep a nice old fashioned atmosphere in the reception aereas

    The Churchill retains an old fashioned atmosphere but it does not mean that the room should be dated - decor - bed cover etc - the bathroom also needs some serious attention it is far to be spotless

    Location

    The general decor was tatty. The room was dirty especially round bath, and the smell of smoke in the bedroom was unacceptable. The worst I have ever known. The good news is that I no longer want smoking rooms. The floor was creaky and it was hard to sleep because of the creaky floor and noise from other rooms.

    "I felt that the price was a little high for the quality of the hotel, especially as it didn't include breakfast. Also, there was a definite stale smell of beer and cigarettes in the bar area. The decor is also dated and tired. However, it's proximity to the ferry is it's prime advantage" (99590219)

    "We only stayed one night so it really isn't very important. However, we chose The Churchill Hotel because of its location, i.e. on the sea front. Upon arrival, we learned that we had to pay an extra ten pounds for a room with a sea view. I did not find this particularly fair. I assumed all the rooms would have a sea view. Anyway, as I say, it's of no great importance and the room was lovely." (99476685)

    My daughter and I very much enjoyed the olde worlde feel of the hotel.

    It was slightly noisy.

    "Hotel is well-situated, within a short walk of town centre, overlooking the beach & marina, yet also quiet being away from the main traffic route. In overall smartness, the hotel does have a rather old-fashioned provincial feel and the bathroom equipment is showing its age. But everything works, and is as clean as its age permits. In my opinion, and that of the local people I spoke to, this is the best hotel in the centre of town. It is a bit more expensive than some others, but much better quality." (99803977)

    Nice sitting area for drinks/snacks. Use of excellent gym and fitness suite. Parking provided.

    Upstairs corridors and some aspects of the room need some refurbishment, but nothing too serious.
