    Refurbished restuarant very nice and food excellent

    Bar has too much furniture and is dominated by large flat screen TV showing football permanently, so nor really suitable to either sit and talk wether business or pleasure

    Excellent dining room and the service there

    Location of room, opposite the amusement park. I would hate to stay at the height of the tourist season!

    Excellent food, great service in the Restaurant

    Room and adjacent room had noisy plumbing, toilet cistern took an age to refill. If room next door used bathroom in night I could hear everything! South Shields does appear to be "Chav Central" so with window open you had to have volume on TV very loud to hear over the modified cars blasted up and down the road.

    Staff were exceptionaly friendly Dining room surprised us by it's decore and finish. Much better than the rest of the hotel.

    Room very basic, stairs looked like they'ed not been vacuumed in ages. Pity the entrance and rooms were not finished to the standard of the dining room. No lifts so had to carry cases up the 50 stairs to the room - yes I counted them.

    Staff and manaager went out of their way to see to our futurre reservations and recommended future locations

    One can always find something not quite perfect and if I want to complain I would but why spoil an otherwise excellent three days

    Evening bar staff were excellent as were the staff at breakfast.

    Receptionist on duty when we booked in was extremely dissinterested and looked as though she would rather be anywhere but behind the desk.

    Restaurant and parking facilities very good.

    Reception staff are not particularly curtious. Staff appear to be in a hurry to clear the dining room at the end of evening meal time.

    easy access quiet location as it was not in the main hotel it was very clean and tidy and the room size was better than expected

    Spacious; clean; good quality furniture and equipment. Accessible. Secure car park. Excellent dining facilities.

    Ground floor room in a separate annex. The door to this hotel room is directly opposite the outside door opening on to the car park - This is very noisy.

    "On arrival at reception I advised the lady that I had a reservation. I felt that the reply of 'have you?' was not very professional nor in a friendly manner and I was passed over to an assistant to process my booking. I can only assume that I was pre-judged by my appearance as I am an Installation Engineer for a major shower enclosure manufacturer, so therefore my uniform would not look its best by the end of the day. I had driven 3 hours after finishing work to find that no food whatsoever was available after 9.30pm. I had stayed the previous 2 nights at The Best Western Pond Hotel in Glasgow which was also a 3 star accommodation. Room service was available 24 hours as would be expected from a 3 star hotel, this hotel was excellent in all departments. The Sea Hotel should not in my mind be classed as anything above 2+ star. I will not be staying there again." (97880036)

    Bathroom was outdated, not expected for a 3 star hotel. There was paint in the sink which peeled the first time it was used, fixtures and fittings looked about 30 years old. Furniture in the room itself was in good condition and was up to date.

    "although the breakfast in the hotel was not bad, it was not friendly towards older people, lack of lifts and lack of willingness to help with luggage. It was extremely noisy, as there was no proper airconditioning in the rooms so you were forced to open windows, which brought all the noise in from the fairground situated behind the hotel. I would not have booked the hotel had I known about its situation. The dinner was pretty dismal, the chef d'hote was bordering on rudeness, dinner was not freshly cooked, basically very overpriced for what it was." (97552559)

    the hotel was just outside the shopping area, and near the beach

    nowhere had I been informed that the hotel had a huge fairground behind it, as I was travelling with my 85 year old mother, it was not successfull..Furthermore the hotel did not have a lift for her and we were in a smoking room, when I specifically asked for non smoking even at the reception

    The staff were cheerful and very helpful

    The central heating in the room was still switched on depite it being the middle of June causing the room to be very hot

    The staff were extremely friendly and efficient.

    I would have preferred an up-to-date shower. The shower was worked off of the bath taps proving difficult to gat an even and constant temperature.

    "i enjoyed my stay very much,but as i work very hard all the time i would like to be served by people who although dont want to be in work on a bank holiday are able to make an effort to hide it.All of your other staff were very helpful happy and smiling from the cleaning staff upto the reception staff and made me feel welcome and comfortable" (99947346)

    the location of the hotel was fantastic the rooms were comfortable abd clean

    the staff at breakfast could not raise a smile i know it was a bank holiday but the two young staff who served breakfast certainly did not hide the fact that they did not want to be there

    my accommadation was great had a nice setting and it was close by where my friends live

    had to run the hot water a we while before it got hot. And couldnt get a signal for the internet.

    Loved the breakfast, a variety of food to choose from. Rooms were lovely.

    Toilet a little noisy and the room was hot for my husband. I thought it was ok. However there was a fan in the room to use.

    Friendly staff - good food

    Room quality was not brilliant. There was paint flaking off the bath and i couldnt turn the taps on and off easily. Looked a bit tired.

    I liked the location and the restaurant was very good.

    The mattress on the bed was very bad. The springs were very tired and sagged towards the middle. They also popped and rocked whenever anyone moved.

    "After being delayed on the motorway for an extra three hours we were greeted by a very night man who could not be more helpful. He checked us in and then gave us direction to find a place to eat. We were very tired and stressed when we arrived, got lost on the way in the South Shields, so rang the hotel, the gentleman was great with directions and even waited outside the hotel for us to arrive."     "The room was adequate but quite shabby and too hot. The evening meal was very good, with good choice and excellent portions. The breakfast was terrible, with dirty crockery, watery scrambled eggs and bitter coffee. Overall, I would not stay in this hotel again, although I would go there for an evenng meal." (99479425)

    The hotel is very well located with views of the park on one side and the beach and sea on the other. Shame about the ugly roof area outside of the building and gaming arcades that typify this town spoiling the view somewhat (not the hotel management's fault or anything that can be changed though)....

    The breakfast was acceptable although their choice of sauage was very poor quality and as someone who appreciates good food I remember being disappointed by this on my last stay back in 2005. Also the breakfast room has no windows and is quite dark and suppressing

    Easy to find (near seafront), good breakfast, secure parking, walking distance to Metro station, lots of restaurants nearby (mostly Indian/Asian but some others also).

    No 'film' channels on TV.

    "my friends room was over the kitchen it was hot and smelt of fat,the noise from the generators under the window ,and heat meant they hardly slept,her words it must be the worst room that I have ever sleept in ,in my life.Both ladies suffer with COPD and was horified to here that you allowed smoking in your dining room, they were on edge all through the meal and although it was very good could not relax.At breakfast the next day some of the cutlery was dirty and there was no butter only flora on the table.After visiting one other of your hotels the shap this was terrible."
