    Fantastic breakfast with beautifully cooked bacon (it's usually all flacid and underdone in hotels) and excellent breakfast staff. Hotel clean throughout. Room surprisingly spacious compared to London hotels previously stayed in.

    On checking in with my sister it was not explained to us that our booked twin room had been upgraded to room 15. This led to some confusion as we assumed that one of the rooms in room 15 was for our mother instead of the single room we had booked for her! So when we collected her later and brought her to the hotel she unpacked her things, only to later discover that she did in fact have her own single room allocated. She really did prefer to have her own self-contained room and bathroom room so this meant she had to repack everything and "move"! Possibly partly our fault but we do think the receptionist could have explained when we checked in originally.

    Booked a room with 3 beds and actually got a room with 3 beds. Very spacious room and so convenient for Paddington, Hyde Park and the tube station so very little cost to us for public transport. Staff very obliging.

    We did hear the underground but not really a problem as we could not hear the traffic - usually wherever you are staying you have traffic noise.

    Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent, bedroom and bathroom were clean and spacious, beds comfortable,laundry and luggage storage facilities available. Even had some reading material for borrowing.

    Room was very noisy. On basement level so quite warm and no air conditioning so had to have windows open and street noise was high, as was noise from staff and other guests, and from reception directly above us. Also I objected to having to hire a face flannel for one pound - felt it should be supplied with the towels.

    Clean facility, wonderful breakfast in the morning and holding bags after check out so we could enjoy the city further without the complication of bags.

    Hotel was in a great position with a really reasonable price tag. I expected a tiny room in which I could only swing half a cat but found that I could have swung several cats and still not hit anything! Everything was on working order and nothing was too much trouble for staff. Breakfast was great!

    My only criticism was over zealous staff in housekeeping. The Darlington has the environmental system of placing towels on the towel rack if you don't want them changed and as I was staying only two night this I did after the first night. The towels were removed and replaced for my second night. That really is all I can say that was not good. A paltry point.

    Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great position and close to Paddington tube and train station.

    Room was on ground floor close to lift and passage that everyone walked through.

    No bad points - the only reason I gave the room a 'fair' rating was , as is usual in London, single rooms are small - but the room was exceptionally clean and all the facilities were in good working order.

    This was my second visit within 2 weeks, It lies in Central London with easy access to Paddington underground and National rail services. Double room had airconditionong which was very useful in the heat of summer. Left luggage allows you freedom to drop your things and go on a final trip around the city without additional costs of commercial left luggage service.

    Single rooms are cramped, can get uncomfortably warm in summer though the fan ameliorated the problem.

    Convenient location; excellent value for money; no frills, just exactly what you need.

    The only problem with booking online is that you can't ask for a particular room. I've stayed here a few times now and some rooms are better than others.

    "We needed a hotel to stay at during our theatre break. We couldnt have chosen better. I will return for sure simply because they are a good quality hotel with caring staff. Breakfast was hot and the coffee was excellant. Close proximty to the tube station meant transfers were simple. Great weekend all round.     Excellant location to tube. Staff warm and friendly. Room as stated, clean and minimal noise at night. Lovely breakfast served by helpful and cheerful staff. I have stayed in various hotels in london for breaks and this is the first that met our expectations.

    Price was more than i wanted to pay but the timelimit and past experience meant i was prepared to pay a little more.

    Hotel is very clean, comfortable and convenient to public transport.

    Quality of food at breakfast could be improved. Hotel ran out of certain items during the breakfast session. On arrival we an extra pillow was required for our room, when we approached a housekeeping staff member the person was quite abrupt and put out by our request. We were also advised that we should not drink the hotel tap water, but bottled water was not supplied to our room on a daily basis.

    The Darlington Hyde Park is in an excellent location, has good sized rooms and bathrooms, and is very clean and comfortable The staff and manager are very helpful. We were extremely happy with our visit.

    Only that the floor above us creaked when those guests walked across it but this was not too disturbing.

    Room clean and in good order, warm and adequate. Reception areas clean and pleasant.

    Breakfast took ages. I think the guy who walked in and had breakfast put in front of him was amazed. So was I, it was my breakfast.

    We´re really happy to find this small nice and clean hotel, as we now have visit for 3 times. Last time we was upgrade to a family suite for no extra charge. That was really good service. Also breakfast is good value. English breakfast for no extra charge. Mostly in other english hotel you have to pay extra for that. There is only one thing we miss, that´s cheese! The location is close to Paddington station we´re you can take many busses and the tube. The location also feels safe even if you come late in the evening. The hotel is very clean, and we can warmly recommand it to everyone.

    There is no big bad points, exept some of the workers in the receptions. Most of them is very serviceminded, but some of them should be a litte more happy.

    Floors were noisy; elevator didn't work on day we left.

    "We usually stay at hotels on Park Lane, but as this was Christmas we could not get booked in and so were slightly wary about booking at the Darlington Hotel. There was no need to have worried and indeed we shall definitely re-book again here next time. Not five star but perfectly acceptable for a weekend break at a more affordable price. " (107799149)

    The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Location was great for Hyde Park and shopping on Oxford Street. Room was spotless, warm and the bed was very comfortable.

    Our only negative was that the Breakfast was a little bland.
