    Good food and friendly staff.

    Windows not double-glazed, so more drafts and traffic noise than normal for a hotel.

    Gorgeous hotel, amazing food (as expected at a 4* hotel), very friendly staff. The (Superior Double) room was large, clean and nicely furnished.

    The hotel really needs modernising. While we loved the character of the hotel (sloping floors, sloping walls and nice thick walls), we felt that most things are definitely in need of modernisation. In particular, the bathroom is in desperate need of a power shower, rather than a splitter from the bath taps. The shower temperature and pressure were both inconsistent. Plenty of hot water, but the inconsistent temperature meant we spent most of our showers ducking out of the water to prevent ourselves being scalded or frozen.

    "The rooms were tired and the bathroom was dingy and musty. There wasn't much of a welcome from the staff/owners. We wouldn't recommend to others as there are many other better places to stay locally - if you can get into them due to their popularity." (107970555)

    Bacon was tasty at breakfast and generous portions given. The bedroom was clean and had facilities like tea/coffe making facilities, hair dryer, small TV

    Had asked for a quiet room but was put in room looking over the car park and close to road. Pillows were hard. Carpet in the dark and dingy bathroom seems very unhygienic and carpet in room looked as though it was in need of replacing! Bathroom was internal with dated avocado suite, no window and smelt musty. Didn't use shower as the water pressure was so poor. Breakfast was buffet style with very little choice of cereals etc. Service was almost non-existent with used plates simply left on our table even though the waitress came in and out serving other guests and bringing our coffee. The toast was like doorstops and barely toasted or warm when it arrived.

    Lovely Hotel,Excellent Service,Very Good Breakfast.

    Bed not very comfortable & pillows hard.Shower not very powerfull,Faulty shower door,cubical would have been better larger.The bar was smokey from the log fire.

    The food was excellent, very good choice, huge room and ensuite, very friendly and helpful staff

    Some of the 'faded grandeur' did need some attention. Evening meals were a little on the slow side - but worth waiting for!

    Staff were very polite and attentive

    Even though it is an old building we did think the bathroom could be refurbished as the toilet smelt into the bedroom and the pedestal was cracked very badly on the sink. The windows were unable to close through layers and layers of old paint so the noise of the road still came through the sliding double glazing

    very well positioned easy to find. Quaint and lovely. homely. excellent value. room was clean and cottage like which we loved.its not modern

    breakfast service on sunday was slow due to one waiter on overload. monday was fine.

    The staff were friendly and the room was clean. The food was good and the wine very good.

    We were told not to book in before 3pm. We arrived at 3.15, were conducted to the accommodation and it had not been cleared after the previous occupants. It was not ready until after 4pm. The staff made a number of small errors which left a feeling of a lack of competence. They were, though, willing.

    Lovely setting old world pub excellent menu very well prepared food although fairly pricey.

    Whilst I accept the hotel is very old the romm lacked a decent wardrobe only one chair and a toilet from the dark ages.The price of the room was not reflected in its standard.

    "the Dragon House Hotel is a lovely place for a weekend break. Great location, very nice, good service and excellent food. The atmosphere is very relaxed and easy going and, apart from the road noise in our room, it was perfect." (97967060)

    The restaurant was excellent as were the staff.

    Our bedroom was very noisy as it faced a main road. It badly needed double glazing.

    The fact that it was a little cottage on its own.

    It was a bit chilly to begin with as it was difficult to fgure the heating out, and the bathroom was a bit basic.

    Incredibly warm and friendly staff/owners

    The place was in transition due to new owners so the facilities were being renovated. Not really a criticism as I'm sure the place will be beautiful when it's finished. Also, the rooms were a little chilly at times.
