    room was light and airy, very clean, bed firm, bathroom large, lovely views from room

    breakfast on first morning was cold apart from the egg, would have expected more toast to be offered without being asked as there was four of us in our group.second morning was warm but no beans.

    "For a 1 night stay to just get your head down it is ok but not for anything else. the only good points are the location and the staff. " (108768900)

    staff were friendly and helpful

    this is not a hotel just a b&b, the whole place needs refurbishing and room facilities are very basic. The breakfast was ok but was very greasy.

    "I would happily recommmend the George Hotel. It is well located, near to the abbey and battlefield. It is certainly good value for the budget traveller. I look forward to my next stay there." (108861074)

    The staff were fantastic and friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs. Even though the hotel is old and showing signs of wear and age, it is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in.

    "No menu was offered, full english was Bacon,Sausage, egg, & Beans. No tomato,no mushrooms. No vegetarian option offered even though my fiancee is vegetarian.Staff indifferent. We would definitely not stay at this hotel again. " (108280840)

    Very basic & old furniture bed was very creaky,& soft. Appearance of room was cheap & unpleasant, carpet due 4 renewal. Bathroom door was ill fitting. The bath taps had a shower fitting but no provision for wall mounting, only able to use the bath.

    Very easy to find

    Limited parking first come first served basis so if you went out late worried about getting a space. Room 4 at the front of hotel overlooking the high street where the dustmen come at 6am one way up the road and 7am the other. Could be quite noisey.

    Friendly family-run hotel right in the middle of town. Could easily walk to everything in town. Nice breakfast included.

    Old feel suited us, but some might not like it.

    Easy to find, clean, we had one refurbished room, and one older- but both good sizes and comfortable. Breakfast cooked well.

    No Hair drier in one room. Parking at hotel limited- had to park a long way up the high street, but no charges.

    Mattress on the four poster was comfy

    Tatty decoration. Four poster room at front of hotel, very noisy from traffic, sash window doesn't stay open so very stuffy, tv had no remote teletext, bathroom had broken tiles with mould and a shower head coming off the wall. No information in room about locality.

    My girls loved the bunk bed and the cooked breakfast.

    The heavy traffic on the main road (High Street).

    "A hotel I would visit again - good value for money, private parking and centrally placed." (108398560)

    All aspects of the hotel were very clean, bed linen pristine white and no visible waste anywhere. Breakfast was good and the bacon excellent.

    Fire escape needed painting. A king sized bed would have been better than the standard double. The restaurant next door had visible, overflowing bins and many black refuse sacks piled on the ground which, though nothing to do with the hotel, did make the parking area appear unkempt.

    "Thoroughly enjoyable, a good base to visit local sites." (107462426)

    The hotel was clean and tidy, and very quiet in the evenings which was great. It was well situated for the local restaurants and pubs, and free parking which was a bonus as parking in the village was quite expensive. The staff were pleasant and friendly, and breakfast was great.

    Our room was one of those that had not been refurbished, the decor was a little dated and the bathroom suite an interesting colour but it did not really affect our stay.

    Good situation in delightful town, minutes from Battle Abbey and battlefield. Italian and Thai restaurants on site. Large,clean comfortable room with excellent cooked breakfast. Excellent value for money.

    Entrance and reception looked very dingy and a bit down at heel, making us wonder what the rooms would be like.

    Price was very reasonable. For the money, our room was perfectly acceptable: clean, and unpretentious; good shower; and a comfortable night's sleep. All staff were pleasant and helpful.

    The hotel is handy for the Abbey and visiting the local area. Very good breakfast

    Rooms need updating and redecorating. Nobody on duty after 10.30pm. Woken up at 2 am by noisy and drunken guests so how many sleep in a room is anybody’s guess. Hotel recption is very poor in decoration and does not give a good impression.

    pleasant staff. central location in Battle

    Old fashioned and outdated decor and fittings,it looked scruffy and there is a lack of ambiance. Hotel lookes unloved and uncared for. Breakfast room cold and unapealing and the use of plastic table cloths gave it a cheap cafe look. Bed uncomfortable, TV recption poor and not all channels available.

    Convenient for venue.

    Very old building, old windows noisy outside traffic, creaky staircase, tiny washbasin.

    Matress uncomfortable, bed creaky. TV had no remote control. Duvet cover old and thin. Pillows old and not good enough for a hotel. Decor needs updating as does the bathroom.

    The hotel was cheap and cheerful, nice and warm ,and the breakfast was a real highlight!

    There was no TV control, the fixtures and fittings were a bit dated, but the room was clean

    Local to both venue of wedding and reception .. great shops along high street

    Walked into my room and found at least 30 flies all up the wall and window ... took ages to get them all out

    Impossible to find the hotel in the dark. The heating was unbearably hot. The hotel had a horrible smell.
