    "Was disappointed with room - cleanliness is probably a very important thing for me - I don't expect to have to clean a bath before I can use it! Housekeeping barging into both rooms two days in a row isn't good either." (108652655)

    Reception staff and dining room staff were good.

    Don't expect mould in bathrooms of hotels like this and we had it in both rooms. Also Housekeeping staff barged into rooms two days in a row at 9.00 a.m. even on the day that we were checking out, and check out time was 10.00! Not a good idea. Also bath in one room had to be cleaned before it could be used by us and the hand basin in the other room was the same. Got the feeling that proper cleaning just did not occur.

    The most outstanding feature of this hotel is the staff. The receptionists, room cleansing staff and the staff working at breakfast were friendly, very helpful and polite.

    None really - the only (very minor) negative point was the meal I ordered from room service - some of my wine was spilt on the tray and the omelette was unappetisingly pale but it was freshly cooked and it tasted good.

    Difficult to find..not easy as many other business in the area have the same name..and Northop country club, Northop Country golf club, Northop Hotel.and so on, not sign posted well...took agaes nearly gave up.

    "I thought the hotel wasnt terrible value for money, not only was the room awful the walls are paper thin and you can hear doors banging. The food was mediocre and the staff werent particularly friendly. Had I known how run down the hotel was beforehand I wouldnt have stayed there. I tried to complain to the lady at reception but she just said she would inform housekeeping." (97196310)

    The window was broken and wouldnt close properly,the tv didnt have a signal. I booked a double room and got 2 single beds pushed together. The furniture was dirty and grubby and the curtains were hanging off the rails, the view from the room was a skip filled with rubbish.

    "It was a very comfortable hotel and the staff service was excellent. Although the restaurant was being extended this had no impact on the quality of service I received. Very pleasurable stay and I would definitely recommend it and stay there again." (97646063)

    The setting is very nice and the only critism I had of my room is that I couldn't enjoy that view from my window.

    "The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent with generous portions and value for money. We took my parents for a 75th Birthday treat but their room had a leak in the bathroom, it was reported and they were immediately allocated another room without any fuss. There was some building work going on for an extension to the dining room although this did not affect us at all it would have been nice to have known about it when we booked." (97611636)

    Rooms were unfinished in places and walls were so thin that you could hear everything in the next door rooms.

    "The accommodation could not be faulted. Decided to have a bar meal instead of eating in the restaurant, but the fish and chips was well below par. When the waitress asked if everything was okay I answered that it wasn't good. She obviously wasn't trained on how to respond to that sort of comment so she just shrugged her shoulders and took the plate away. Got the impression that the chef was trying to be too fancifull and missed the point of what good old fanshion fish and chips should be." (97102295)

    Excellent value for money considering it was the same price for staying in a Travelodge.

    Very pretty location, staff very friendly. Room lovely and warm.

    Slow running water through bath taps, shower never really got hot. There was a sign on bathroom door explaining about water pressure during busy periods, however there were only a handful of guests staying during the 2 nights we stayed there. Building work being carried out at the hotel - an extension to the restaurant, this wasn't advertised when booking our stay and we were woken up on our first morning stay.

    Room was big and comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very welcoming, particularly with our little girl. They accomodated whatever we needed. There was a lovely 'snug' room as they refer to it. Leather seats, log fire, TV with toys for the little ones which meant we got to sit and have a drink in the bar! Would recommend although our sat nav would not recognise the postcode. Close to town centre and zoo.

    There was some building work being carried out and although it wasn't at all noisy (probably due to the weather) it was our view. There didn't appear to be many people staying that night (given the time of year and day of the week) but we were all put in rooms next door to each other. With few people there, for noise and privacy, it would have been good to space us out a bit.

    "Comfortable, friendly hotel. Didnt eat at the restaurant - there was a function on. Room was warm and comfortable and well appointed. Staff friendly and curteous. Bath and shower water was not as hot as we would have liked." (97556060)

    Nice looking hotel in large grounds. Nice ambience

    Breakfast a bit slow and disorganised (wedding fayre being organised for later in the day may have been the cause). Tasty breakfast though.

    The hotel did not disappoint. It is a beautiful Country house, very elegant with wonderful grounds. Very convenient for visiting Chester with great shopping opportunities. We would like to stay there in Spring/Summer when the weather is good and we can take advantage of walking in the grounds.

    The room could have been better equipped for a hotel of this standard. I suggest bath robes would add a touch of comfort and the one small block of soap is certainly totally inadequete for one person using basin and shower never mind a couple!

    "Lovely hotel in rural setting - the drive plus finding car park in Chester took about 25 minutes each day. Nice villages in surrounding area plus choice of pubs for evening meals etc within about 5/10 minutes drive. Good food and friendly staff. Accept offer of help with luggage as this proved difficult with long corridors and stairs to our room. (no lift)" (99621285)

    Gracious building and pleasant grounds in a lovely rural location. Excellent choice at breakfast

    Booked superior room and expected room to be larger. The hot water was dangerously hot.

    "The grounds of the hotel were lovely & staff were friendly & helpful. I was disappointed though with the room or rather bathroom in our room. The wallpaper was coming away from the wall & the hairdryer burned my hand. Overall I will be split next time I visit North Wales & may sway towards using another hotel because of the above problems." (99263359)

    The hotel grounds & staff were both very nice. The breakfast was also gorgeous.

    The bathroom in our room could have been better looked after & the hairdryer wasn't in proper working order - it burned your hand when using it. There was also a problem with our booking as all details given at time of booking were not tranfered to hotel properly, not sure if this was down to the hotel or booking line!

    The room was clean, presentable and of a reasonable size. The bed was very comfortable, a big plus...

    The bathroom was a little tatty but clean. The tea and coffee tray was pretty sparce. We english love a good cuppa in the morning.

    Wonderful location ,excellent staff and good food.

    Noisy cistern which took a little while to settle down.I was also disturbed by someone knocking on a door at around 2.00am in the morning .I was unsure whether it was mine or another guests. I did not mention it to reception the next morning,but I am afraid it did disturb my sleep.Irrespective of this I would stay again as I am confident that this unfortunate occurrence was unusual.

    The hotel is in an excellent position for touring both chester and north wales and has a good food and helpful staff that are always available. Our German friends had a problem with their shower and were promptly moved to another room ( with four poster bed!). Overall we would use this hotel again.

    Our room did want a few touch ups on the decorating side of things i.e some wallpaper had been ripped off wall and paintwork needed attention and it was a little bit narrow in the bathroom to get to the toilet but l suppose with the age of this beautiful building it is a little difficult to change.

    "I had previously booked rooms in the hotel for numerious members of employees from the company i work for, so i had a good idea of what to expect and booked for my husband and i and a group of our friends to also stay there as a short break as i had received good feedback." (99916267)

    The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly.
