    Excellent front desk and restaurant service.

    TV in room did not work on arrival, hence had to be moved to another room.

    Staff were superb and could not have ben more helpful; this made it much easier to ensure our 8 month old daughter was happy. If staying in this area again I would not hesitate to use this hotel. Recommended.

    In our room there was no stand up shower facility, but the bathroom was spotless and met our needs.

    Nice country hotel in beautiful setting. Food probably one of the best things about hotel.

    The bathroom was very small and the plumbing could do with some updating (it took ages for the water to drain away from the bath and sink). Also there was no shower screen or curtain. For the cost of our stay we would have expected these facilities to have been a little better.

    "Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the Hotel was very clean and comfortable, I would stay there again, but next time we would make sure we took out a small mortgage first!" (107101280)

    Good location for exploring Battle and Hastings, Nice friendly hotel with good facilities. Excellent food. Nice restaurant lounge and Garden area.

    Hotel has no choice of courses on a Saturday Night, 4 courses are available and you have to pay for these whether you have them or not! This is not what it states on the board outside the Hotel so we were not impressed thinking that we could have a cheaper 2 course meal, when in fact we ended up paying for a 4 course and only eating 2 of them. The wine is extremely expensive as well. Also on the evening meal they charged you extra for coffee which surely could be included in the price of the meal. Towels in the Hotel room could have been bigger, I think we were given 2 hand towels each rather than a bath towel and hand towel.

    Breakfast was very good. The bedding was fresh and clean.

    Your website claims there are no fees or hidden taxes. This simply is not true.I booked through the internet and was charged an extra £18 on top of the hotel rate. At the time of booking I did not know this and expected a much more elegant hotel for the price of £138 per night. My room was a pokey "bungalow" type with low ceilings and a badly stained carpeted bathroom. The walls were paper thin and I was kept awake all night by the man in the next room who coughed and blew his nose all night. When I asked why I had been charged an extra £18 I was argued with by the receptionist that it was my own fault for booking through your agent. I feel it is totally unacceptable for your hotel to pass this charge on to your client. If you do not wish to upset your clients perhaps you should use an agent who does not charge these extra fees, or take the fee on yourselves on behalf of your good client. The argument was unpleasant and certainly not in the interests of inducing me to stay here again. I was then 'told off' by your receptionist who snapped at me, saying he would reduce it to the correct rate just because it was Father's day.( after I had asked him to allow me to pay the correct rate ). I also developed a skin rash after swimming in your pool and the skin on my hands has itched and peeled off in areas. I suggest you check your chlorine and cleanliness levels.

    "An excellent hotel which came up to the expectations we hoped for from the internet information. The food and service surpassed our expectations. The service was very good and the food was delicious. Yes, we will come again! We are long term users of hotels for weekend and holiday breaks. We recently went to a five star hotel in London. it was aweful and we we given our money back. We wished we had come here!We shall do so next New years Eve!" (97139926)

    the room was what we expected. The facilities were fine. The service at dinner and breakfast was excellent

    having to leave the next day!

    "The room and hotel were exactly as described on the net. The staff were friendly and the welcome was excellent as the receptionist showed us to our room and answered any questions we had. Breakfast was excellent with the biggest range of prepared fresh fruit I have ever seen anywhere. The menu in the dining room was limited with no a la carte, but the food was delicious, beautifully cooked and presented. The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been for the swimmng pool to be open earlier in the morning so that we could have had a swim before breakfast." (97613580)

    "The old hotel is beautiful but most of the rooms are a newer build, of uniform size and shape and lacking character. Not unlike staying in any large hotel chain. The food is good but there is no al a carte menu and I personally do not like to eat so many courses. There was no real ale option at the bar, only keg bitter. Using the web site to book rooms was limited because it did not make us aware of mini break deals that are available for 2 & 3 days duration." (99676085)

    Clean and well managed

    Most of the rooms including our one are modern, built to a formula and lacking in character. They are over crowded with furniture and trouser presses in order to achieve a particular star rating.

    "As for the all round review:As a young couple taking a short break.we found the beautiful room,to be beyond our expectations,the service was excellent from the moment we checked in until we checked out. The hotel overall with it's real fire places and wooden beams, that denote it's 500 year history was just fabulous and perfectly in keeping with the picturesque village of Seddlescombe it is set in."     As soon as you see the Brickwall Hotel you fall in love with it. Outside it is a well maintained olde worlde hotel and inside it is spotless, the staff are efficient yet very friendly and you do not want to leave at the end of your stay. I will be coming back here again and have already recomended it to friends and family.

    There is honestly nothing to disike about this lovely hotel.

    Efficient and friendly staff. Excellent food in restaurant for 3* Hotel, and pre-dinner drinks. Clean and spacious room. Outdoor Pool (weather fantastic!)and drinks brought to pool area.

    Only gripe was that the Shower in the en-suite was faulty.

    "The welcoming atmosphere and the homeliness of the staff is especially pleasant for someone 'on the road' for most of his working life. The food is wonderful as is the way it is presented and served. Silver service is not something I find in many hotels these days. I have never once found a hotel, although excellent in some respects, had managed to achieve excellence in all its services. The Brickwall simply has. The attention to detail in the rooms, lounges, bar, restaurant, catering, and the courtesy and attention accorded the guests is of a very high standard." (3304739444)

    Three main things:- Good clean towels; good crisp bed linen; good quality toilet rolls. The overall cleanliness of the hotel is excellent. The staff make the guest feel welcomed and are very polite. The restaurant is spacious with comfortable seating, and the table linen is superb and the change to equally good gingham cloths for breakfast is a welcome change. The food is excellent as well as the wine list. The waiters move around quickly, silently and are alert to the diners needs.

    Frankly I tried to identify a fault and I could not!

    "I was not pleased at being woken at 7.15am by loud banging in the dining room underneath my room. I discovered at breakfast that the carpet fitters were in.     "We would have liked to have known that the hotel caters for large parties in the restaurant. The restaurant on the evening we dined was noisy due to the large number of people in this particular party. Although it didn't spoil our evening had we had known beforehand we probably would have eaten elsewhere." (2781297)

    We particularly liked the setting of the hotel and the oldie worldie feel of the accommodation. We were made to feel welcome on arrival and the staff were very polite and helpful which made our stay even more delightful.

    We think if you decide to eat at the hotel restaurant more that once during your stay, the menu needs to be more extensive.
