    On arrival in the dining room for evening meal staff were on hand but did not repsond too our `good evening'. In fact 2 members of staff simply walked away. The owner came forward at that point.

    Attractive "superior room" with bed up on mezzanine. Good sitting area below, flar screen tv, couch and 2 easy chairs. Tiny "balcony" on each level, looking over garden. First rate breakfasts, well cooked. and well presented.

    Insufficient clothes storage for a longer stay. Down steep stairs to bathroom - not so good at night. No mirror in "bedroom" area and no drawers at all up. there.

    Clean and pleasant location - reasonable food but very limited choice

    No breakfast in the morning before 8pm. We had to leave every morning with no breakfast. Overpriced

    The setting - tranquil..

    The gravel driveway was a bit noisy when cars were coming in and out.

    V. friendly, efficient and accommodating management. Staff all v. friendly, efficient and helpful.

    Storage in room was limited and ability to adjust heating was inadequate - however, manager arranged adjustment v. promptly

    Room heating is on a sensor system meaning that the room was cold on arrival and was cooled down overnight.

    The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, made us feel really welcome which definately made our stay. The location is excellent, the hotel facilities are very clean and the rooms are very comfortble. Overall, a very nice hotel.

    Our only slight gripe would be the noisy water pumps in the room. Every few minutes we would get a clunk from the water pump especially after the tap had been running or the toilet flushed.

    "The size of the rooms/suites are very variable. The cost not so much so. If you like spacious accomodation it would be worth going for the larger suites. It was cheaper to book on line than with the hotel direct. There is a small outdoor plunge pool." (2961274)

    Very friendly and helpful service.Excellent food and very pleasant room.

    Air conditioning in rooms and passages could be improved as we found it very hot and could not see how to adjust the temperature.

    "A very friendly welcome, the hotel manager and his team were most attentive and helpful - could not praise them highly enough. The hotel was as we expected and very much what we were looking for on that particular weekend. It was a particularly cold weekend and the room was a little chilly - it would have been nice to have been able to have some personal control over the heating system in the room rather than having to contact reception. Breakfast was excellent but dinner disapointing as we were expecting a more traditional menu rather than a hybrid nouvelle cuisine approach - good wine list though." (2927991)

    Sky TV. Room was quite cold and heating system could not be controlled by guests. Dinner was a disappointment - emphasis on presentation rather than quality.

    "I am happy I chose this particular hotel, because it lived up to all my expectations. I wanted a nice, friendly place to surprise and celebrate my partner on his birthday, and I got it - chilled champagne left for us in the room, arranged beforehand on my request. Very friendly and helpful staff. Well cooked, locally produced food, such as Haggis (for breakfast, as well) and a great choice of whiskies, locally caught fish, cooked to perfection by an excellent chef! Very comfortable rooms, the bathroom was stunning and everything was in perfect working order. Good quality, generous sized bath towels. We will definately be back again!" (2932451)

    Very helpful and kind staff, lovely room and excellent locally produced food.

    I cannot really think of anything. Maybe the floor was a bit squeeky in our room, but this really didn't matter much on the whole.

    Big room, good breakfasts.

    Hotel was warm but the room was decidedly cool, and the towel rail wasn't operating. Not great for a very wet October.
