    "There were several Christmas parties and the whole hotel was geared around serving this. As independent guests we were bypassed and had to take second place to this in terms of getting a table in the restaurant etc. We didn't feel we received the level of service we should have done."     Romm very good. Clean, warm, well appointed

    Check in process very slow, long queues and only one receptionist on the desk. Even so he still answered the telephone whilst we were waiting. Restaurant booking very poor due to Xmas parties, we were made to feel fortunate to get a table.

    reception desk staff were friendly

    could not get through to any staff on the phone for 15 minutes in the evening and 15 minutes in the morning - not good when trying to order food for hungry kids no seal on shower screen which led to huge puddles on the bathroom floor - very dangerous for children inadequate lighting and signage in the carpark

    Good sized room. Plenty of facilities. Free internet in the public areas.

    They charge for using credit cards.

    The bed was reasonably comfortable, the food in the restaurant was ok.

    Deep dark mould around the edges of the bath. Mould, cracks and staining on the bathroom ceiling. Badly fitter anti-splash screen meant that the shower would always leak in use. You couldn't use the kettle and a laptop at the desk at the same time. A charge for using credit cards? This is supposed to be a 4* hotel, not a budget airline.

    Excellent facilities. Good sized room. Very comfortable bed.Excellent breakfast with varied choice and of a high quality.

    Bathroom could do with redecoration.

    "The general internal appearance of the hotel room was a little scruffy and disappointing, considering the AA rating of the hotel. The bar meal was also disappointing, primarily on the basis that I wouldn’t expect to receive “McDonalds Fries” with a fillet steak. Furthermore, the steak was overcooked and resembled a minute steak rather that what was stated within the menu (£15). " (107709197)

    Great breakfast. Good food with a lot of effort from the staff.

    Electronic Door Key didn't work. Key card had to be replaced twice.

    "Probably would not stay at this property again. Struggled with internet access. Not happy about adhoc billing proceedures." (107607033)

    Good location. Reasonable gym but lacked supervision. Housekeeping staff were very friendly and excellent. Room service gave good food and service.

    Ensuite internet lacked bandwidth strength during peak occupancy periods (I require a strong signal for streaming stock data from the US and Canadian stock markets). Tired room decor and broken ensuite fittings. Lack of air conditioning made the room unbearable for long periods of occupancy. Billing was incorrect and still has to be checked again for accuracy.

    When there is a party going on in the hotel, you should keep non party residents in a completely separate part of the hotel. we were woken up at 2 in the morning by a wedding party, and the staff could not do anything about the noise. we had to order another room at 3am. We were not amused!!!

    "As we have stayed there before and had a better experience it is obvious to see that there are different standards of rooms for you money. Cheap online prices usually means the grotty small rooms, which we seem to have got with your company. Will be paying that little bit more for the better rooms in future." (107368532)

    They overcharged us on the room bill. Never ordered us a taxi which mean't we were late for our Valentines meal reservation. The bedroom smelt and needed decorating. The bathroom had paint pealing of the walls, grout missing from the shower tiles, which were also falling of the wall.

    Fantastic hotel, We held our wedding here a few years ago. Staff are always friendly and very helpful.

    Not as clean as it normally is. Booked for Valentines weekend wanted to know if the hotel was doing anything for valentines but could not speak to the hotel direct, call centre didn't know so had to make a trip to the hotel to book dinner.

    bathroom in room old and outdated with mold round the bath. Bedroom needs refitting. some of the bedroom lights did not work

    Staff friendly. Hotel clean and smart. Gym small, but not too busy and useful.

    I ate in the restaurant one night and was not impressed. All of the dishes were lukewarm, my colleague did not get what he ordered. The restaurant was quite busy, but this should not be an excuse.

    Restaurant staff are very very young and hugely inexperienced - to the point of embarrasment. Surrounding me were a lot of single diners and I heard 3 complaints about the food. This is not good given the price of the food and the so called quality expected in a hotel of this stature.

    The restaurant was excellent!

    The desert menu could have done with a hot pudding of some kind... Bread and Butter Pudding or Sticky Toffee Pudding or something like that.

    "For £109 per night we usually find far better quality. We have stayed there a few times and are unsure if we will ever go back, even though this is the most convenient for our visits. It also gives us a bad impression of other hotels in the company. We do use hotels a lot and only seek nicer hotels so aren't keen to pay this much money for such a poor look in the future."     Staff are great, very convenient hotel. Nice size rooms. The restaurant is lovely and food was nice. Service was great, we had a 4 year old child who was very well accommodated. Chef was very helpful.

    The place is looking shabby, doors in hallways are scratched, bathroom in our room looks worn. doors to wardrobe no longer fit together, very tired impression except in the restaurant.

    The bar and food was good.

    There were hairs on the bed that definitely weren't mine. Also my boyfriend saw crumbs on top of the duvet upon arrival. The bath was not very clean. The duvet cover seemed like it was overwashed as it felt rough.

    spotless room, comfortable bed, restaurant was totally spot on, perfect culinary experience.

    I asked to be seated somewhere quiet, but staff tried to seat me in a location that I knew would get noisy. better directions round the hotel would made a long day seem less so. I was not the only traveller to get lost wandering around such a large hotel.

    Staff were friendly

    My room was not to standard my bathroom was not fit to be used. eg the floor was very dirty never was cleaned, the showerhead was in such bad condition and dirty. the tiles had moulded. Infact its the worst bathroom i have seen in my 8 years of business travel.

    could not wait to leave in morning ( bed was good)

    nets in window dirty and around 20 dead flies in it ( you need blinds ) went to the village hotel in warrington for a meal 20 times better than this. cold breakfast delivered to room , news paper didnt turn up tv remote broke and mini bar had 2 bottles of bud only.

    Hotel venue was excellent; quality very good

    given twin room although clearly on booking form it stated double room. The Hotel said it was your fault as the message from your computer said twin room. I have contact activehotels and sought recompense. Hotel is providing evidence.

    Pleasent room

    Wrong room asked for double room had twin room. At 3 am the people staying above us were extremly noisy, could not get back to sleep for about 3 hours. I am sure someone must have complained about them but nothing changed and thier launguage was foul., banging on the floor etc.

    "overpriced and overated hotel although the function I attended in 1 of the rooms was good the buffet was A1 and the Alice room was spotless, my room was ok but the cutlery at breakfast was filthy dirty plates and empty wine bottles littred the corridors and were there over my whole stay, lack of toiletries in the room and an out of date TV" (97251179)
