    "Good Accommodation - Stay ruined by Minless Behaviour of Fellow Guest Families whose who behaved in an ignorant way and allowed their offspring to run riot in the Public Areas of the Hotel. Why are children allowed in a Hotel Bar - A disgrace! " (108799824)

    Room Quality Very Good. TV did not work.

    Behaviour of fellow residents was appalling - Family Groups allowed Children to misbehave in Breakfast Buffet Location - Possible danger of Hot Food causing injury when unruly behaviour allowed to persist.

    Swimming pool was lovely and clean. Nobody in the pool when we visited so was nice and clean.

    We decided not to have breakfast at your hotel when we stayed. We felt that the price was too much, espeically because I am a small eater, I wouldn't have eaten ten pounds worth of food in the morning, so therefore I would've wasted money. If i could have paid for just a couple of things e.g. 1.50 for bacon sandwich we would've had the breakfast. Didn't think we would have to pay extra to use your swimming pool, we thought it was included in the price of the room.

    It was easy to book over the internet. The lift, tv, lights, kettle, toilet, shower etc. were working well, but the sink was cracked and must have been filled with bacteria. The bar meal was nice.

    There was an airfreshener in the room, and I absolutely hate them. I don't quite trust the cleanliness, if it is necessary to put airfresheners inside in order to get a good smell in a room. Besides, I'm allergic, and airfresheners have the wrong name, they aught to be called air polluters, and they are no good for your health. The windows were not airtight. There had been saved a bit too much spacewise when they built the hotel. The bathroom should be at least 4 sq.feet larger, the room was only just big enough. The bed was not a true double but only three quarters.

    Friendly staff, convenient position for access to Ashbourne, easy parking & well lit car park. The area is fairly quiet a night so you can get a good night's sleep after travelling.

    Signs from the main road not very visible, I know where the hotel is & I nearly missed the turn. Rooms are dated & need renovating.

    Room was clean and welcoming, breakfast was good value and good quality, staff mostly friendly.

    Sometimes felt that staff werent very knowledgeable when asked about things to do in the area or how to get to certain places. Also bathroom suite was a little outdated (but was clean.).

    Really friendly staff. Rooms lovely. Breakfast very good, set out in bright sunny restuarant. Self service choice, healthy and attractive options. Leisure facilities a real bonus, making this good value for money. The pool although small was clean, and quiet.

    Bathroom very small, and for a larger person would provide a very tight squeeze. Tile grout could do with some bleaching/cleaning

    Staff were friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Nice pool.

    Hotel would benefit from general spruce up inside and out. Small thinks such as security locks broken on windows meant the room became very hot as we were on the ground floor and couldn't leave open overnight.

    Hotel pretty tired, public toilets really dirty and run down. Rooms were basic, bathrooms could be doing with being upgraded as dirty was being stuck to cracks etc. Breakfast staff not very friendly or organised, we had to keep asking for refills on everything from breakfast items, to sauces, to milk, glasses for juice.

    The staff were not at all friendly and even though we arrived in the Black Sheep Bar at 7.30pm they had already sold out of some of the menu choices.

    Room was clean and in good condition with fresh towels everyday. Our special request was met.

    Breakfast was not included in price and even the discounted price upon arrival was expensive so we did not eat breakfast at the hotel. Hotel was at top of a big hill which make walking back from Ashbourne an effort

    "Everything was great but for other guests, and being by the road. These are the only reasons I would seriously question staying again, which is a shame because the hotel was perfect for what we need, and will need in future. Oh one other thing. The online check in, when using a Maestro card it doesn't give you the option of putting the issue number '0' in (which some cards have) So I thought it was all booked and then received a call from the hotel to complete the final booking. Not a big deal. I'd say 'no' (can you provide a 'maybe' option) to staying again in case of other inconsiderate, drunk guests. But I might, such a shame." (107300031)

    The staff, they were really helpful & cheerful. Breakfast, the range and quality were great (bit expensive though) and leisure facilities were excellent, swimming pool, gym, sauna/steam room were all REALLY clean and quiet!!; I felt the reception staff & night porter had quite a lot to put up with! Location was good for Ashbourne, really close by, and easy to get to all over the Peak District.

    Other guests!!! There were groups of guests (I think some were there for Alton Towers) who were drunk at check-in (the receptionist had to explain when the bar closed and what that meant 3 times), they kept asking about alcohol and then one group of lads kept running up and down the stairs and corridor, banging on doors and laughing, from 12.30am to 5.30am. After each episode they'd then stand in the car park laughing. In the end I called down to the poor night staff fellow to ask if he could look into it. He did and the noise stopped. I felt bad having to call down and ask. They really ruined the stay for me, I felt awful all the next day at the wedding we were in the area for. It didn't help that our room was at the front of the hotel, with the entrance and smoking area below. I had been told, upon request that we had a 'quiet room away from the front/road', at check in this was not the case and there were no alternatives. Oh and the beds were pretty hard.

    Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of parking spaces. Very good and ample breakfasts. Comfortable room. Quiet. Room central heating available if required unlike some other hotels we have experienced who try to cut costs in June.

    I stay at this hotel quite frequently and although it is now a little tired in terms of decor the staff are usually very friendly and efficient making the experience positive overall.

    Since I last stayed, approx. one month ago, they seem to have changed a lot of their staff. Team members now seem less experienced and less welcoming. Room service has also ceased. With a new hotel opening up in the area which is better equipped they need to capitalise on their USP's.
