Good service from the staff.
The noise from the hall was unbearable. I stayed for 2 nights and for both nights, the music did not stop till midnight. This is bad as I have to go to work first thing in the morning of Saturday and Sunday.

pleasant staff good service hotel kept warm whilst very cold outside
contractors staying in hotel took preference over guests at breakfast to be served also were dressed in thier dirty work clothes a bit off putting

The room was a good size and clean. It was well heated. Breakfast was excellent and the satff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is well situated in relation to the town centre.
The bathroom door didn't close properly because the top hinge was hanging off. The BBC channel on the television was virtually unwatchable due to interferance and crackling.

The food in the restaurant on Saturday evening was good and the staff were very efficient. Breakfast on Sunday, however, was a different ballgame. Service was slow and we had to constantly wait for the buffet to be replenished thus leaving our other food cold when it arrived.
The hotel was being refurbished at the time which came as a bit of a shock when we first walked into reception. Having booked this break as a 'get away from it all' night, it was disappointing to be amongst dust sheets, paint smells and disorder. I think we should have been advised at the time of booking that these refurbishments were taking place.Having said that the hotel was certainly in need of refurbishment and our rooms were pretty basic and dowdy.

Good location, large car park, nice size room, first breakfast was good, clean and tidy.
Car alarm going off every few minutes during our second night also other guests near bye running up and down the corridor in the early hrs, this was part of the wedding that was going on, the wedding party did not concern us as we where warned that a wedding disco would be going on. The Hotel put us far away from this. The second breakast was poor due to the volume of people, food was running out with long "Q's" and it would just run out before you could put it on your plate.

"HOtel is set in very plesant surroundings however external and internal decor was a little tired not reflective if internet site. This aside accomodation was adequate and clean however problems encountered regarding meals has not endeared us to return." (107436139)
Receptionist was Polite, efficient and informative. Hotel staff were in general helpful.
Resaurant at Hotel was of mixed standards.First night booked a meal my parteners meal was adequate however my meal was highly salted and totally not to my liking when the meal was returned there was no difference- Hotel refunded charge for this. Buffet breakfast day 2 arrived 30 minutes before end of service. Toast was cold and of various degrees of cooking time. Cost of full english was included however on arrival 3 other tables asked for replenishment of food which arrived at differing times and by the time others before us had served themselves there was not enough for us or others.

Staff very friendly and helpful. My wife was very happy with the cleanliness especially of the bathroom Quiet although only a short walk from City Centre
Breakfast was dissapointing. Sausages insufficiently cooked and then eveything else was mediocre For me the bathroom was cramped, bath narrow and difficult to get into due to position of shower glass.

"Pretty dreadful for £90! Stayed at a Travelodge the night before for £29 - many times quieter, much better bathroom, cleaner and less tired environment. Much, much better value, even without breakfast (which was pretty average anyway in Ripon!)" (107314462)
Staff helpful and attentive, reservation system works well.
Noisy - not just the party that was going on (told it would not affect us -it did), but a dog barking endlessly at 12.30am, heavy footed person upstairs woke both of us in the early hours. Shower was the kind found in B&Bs - dribble of electrically heated hot water. Tired, fading, old decor. Nobody loves it!!

could take the dog. Lovely garden out the back for chldren and dogs. nice quiet room at the back very friendly to our child. No problem getiing food for him when required. Very helpful helpful in finding out about swimming times for us.
road works meant the instructions on the website to get the hotel were wrong, so it took us 30 minutes to find the place when we arrived, a bus of older people had arrived. We were going to our room the same time as them. Most of them -three rooms around us-- could not operate the keycard, and we helped them. I suggest more help for older people who may not be able to use such things. No food available for adults until 7pm-we arrived at 5pm.

"Comfortable Hotel with good sized rooms and very comfortable beds. It could do with a make over, but it is a genuine hotel run by experienced staff who really seem to care. It could do with a make-over. Spa in the name infers thatthere is Spa type facilities in house--which is not the case. The Spa refers to Edwardian Swimming Baths which are down the road 200 metrs.

"Slendid period hotel in reasonable state of repair. Friendly couteous and helpful staff. Good breakfast buffet. Clean and reasonably well maintained accommodation. Was pre informed of events in the hotel. eg wedding reception till late. Internet access a good thing but should have been informed of the need for a login ticket on check in. This is rather small and picky but the outside could do with a lick of paint and the display cabinets in the foyer could do with a refresh-displaying Xmas stuff in Feb wasn't too relevant!

Our accomodation was clean and very acceptable, the hotel had arears that could do with a minor amount TLC, but the cosy open fires and comfy armchairs in the lounge made up for this in abundance.
Our room had a noisy piping system after flushing the WC. But needless to say this was only a minor problem.

"An elegent hotel showing some signs of its age but with an excellent staff. The breakfast was very good served in chaffing dishes in a beautiful dining room. The gardens are splendid and very well maintained. Ripon is a nice town and the hotel is nicely located only a short stroll from the market square. The Hornblower at 9pm is a must." (97279086)
The large bedroom was comfortably furnished and the four poster bed was superb. Bathroom fittings were very good.

Rooms were dated and smelled musty, as did the hotel. Duvet covers were old and needed a good ironing.Staff on reception were not very helpful.Did not have an evening meal due to a private function taking up all the tables in the dining room.
