    A real taste of Lancashire! Friendly and helpful staff. Good food. Julia Evans, my business partner who helped me compile this reply, states that (as a good Yorkshirewoman) it has revised her opinion of "the red rose"!

    the servings at dinner were big enough to feed a Regiment!!! But I did enjoy it. Breakfast was a trifle chaotic, with an out-of-season flavour.

    Good basic hotel. Clean and tidy.

    Heating didn't work in the room. No way of getting an electronic receipt via email after payment has been made.

    The room was very comfortable and clean.Although we didn't eat dinner in the hotel the menu looked very appealing and we will try it next time we stay. The staff were polite and helpful and our stay was very pleasant.

    "On arrival the check in staff appeared to be to busy to deal with, on entering our room was a nice surprise the layout was just right and the size of the bed you could of got lost in. We booked a meal in the restaurant which surpassed most meals we had in other hotels we had visited. In general all the staff were very polite and helpful.The price we paid for the room should of included full breakfast instead of continental. Overall our stay was made pleasurable." (97727587)

    It was quiet

    Poor fixtures and fittings, out-dated accomodation. Although the new frontal extension offerred a pleasing first impression the original building at the back appears to be falling appart!

    "Bearing in mind the hotel is currently undergoing some major building works, the entrance and public areas were very good. We found the drinks expensive. The staff were generally very helpful particularly the cleaning staff who, on the morning of our day of departure, were very friendly and helpful.     "it was a very short stay, one of the reasons we stayed here rather than a cheaper hotel nearer the venue was that the website made it look like it included a cooked breakfast because it advertised a continental breakfast and then a breakfast buffet which we took to be hot food, but they meant the continental breakfat was a buffet, with the " (99323106)

    Comfortable, clean, and lovely restaurant

    We requested an early breakfast due to having to depart early on-line. We were told it was not possible.

    The Communal areas and dining experience were good. We were attending a wedding and the food was very nice and the service polite and friendly. The room was clean.

    The room (no. 7) looked very tired with very dated furniture in poor condition. The furniture was painted white but had loads of chip and scratches. The bathroom was even more dated, especially the tiling and the shower was very weak. The bathroom fan also rattled very loudly.

    "Would recommend fly strips in the dining room - doors were wide open onto patio and the breakfast buffet was crawling with flies. I would also recommend home made coffee, instead of a machine dispenser. Last but not least - if there is music in the dining room, how about something soft like classical?     It was clean

    I booked a superior deluxe and told that it was superior due to largeness of the room, extra amenities (ie: shampoos, etc) The room was not large, it looked out over the roof of the front of the building, no amenities (except for coffee/tea) had the standard shampoo/body wash that was attached to the wall in the shower. Not eve a face cloth in the bathroom to use? Music in the dining room was too loud, couldn't hear my friends speak throughout dinner and at breakfast in the morning.

    "I enjoyed our stay at the hotel and overall the hotel was very nice and would stay again. One thing that did disappoint me was that the function room was below us. The music went on until 1 in the morning, which was fine as we were awake anyway, but we had no warning of this prior to our stay. If we had have been trying to get to sleep I would have been very annoyed." (2951130)

    The staff were really friendly and easy to talk to! The bar and the Restaurant were very nice and good that is was all under one roof.

    "As a business traveller the hotel provides a comfortable bed for the night which is the main aim. The food is not too bad but with focus on quantity rather than quality. There are better hotels in the area at similar rates but these tend to be unavailable at short notice. All in all not the worse hotel in its sector but not my first choice. That would change if the hotel provided Broadband web access." (2942124)

    The cracked sinks are being replaced.

    The water inevitably turns cold just after I have soaped up in the shower.

    "We are jaundiced by the fact that there was a fire alarm at 2.00 am! But the lack of food options in the bar was a real problem and there were no compensating virtues. Everything was adequate - but charmless and merely functional and having to book a full breakfast the night before is an example of not putting the customer first." (2871814)

    At 9.00 in the evening there was no food option other than a full 3-course meal -- not even a packet of crisps A cooked breakfast had to be pre-booked the previous evening
