    excellent choices on the menu,food very good. Room (martyr) very spacious.

    Shower was past its sell by date, benefit from a new one.

    "We were stopping over the weekend to go hiking over the Brecon Beacons with a comfy bed and a bath for afterwards rather than camping. I would stay again and I would recommend other people for short breaks." (108486292)

    The staff were generally friendly and chatty, there was a wedding reception on the evening that we arrived and people seemed slightly harrassed but still helpful.

    On arrival the person on reception didn't seem to be on the ball and once she had acknowledged that we were there, she continued to rummage in her hand bag for ages before saying she'd 'get the manager'.

    Staff friendly,breakfast very nice,hotel bar well stocked!!

    Didn't get the room I'd booked (meant to be a four-poster bed for the special occasion - had "already been allocated....")- ended up in a standard room,uncomfortable bed,tired looking hotel in general.

    The Food. Most enjoyable

    Had a main suite that was next to kitchen extractor fan! Tiles loose in the bathroom and Show unit very poor.

    Friendly staff and good English breakfast.

    Disappointing facilities and room was shabby. Shower was clean but poor water pressure made showering almost impossible. Bed was uncomfortable foam mattress and in definite need of replacing!

    I was pleased to find that you catered for my dog and that there were no problems' This is the first time I have taken my dog to a hotel to stay overnight and it proved successful.

    "It was a comfortable stay but we would not return if in this area.Nowhere to eat in the close vicinty other than in hotel and there was obviously a private party in when we stayed. Had to walk through all the smokers to get in." (97351368)

    "We stayed at this hotel as everywhere else was booked up. We were suppossed to stay 3 nights but ended up only staying 2 as the hotel wasn't great. " (108049830)

    The check in and out process was very smooth and the reception staff very nice.

    The breakfast waiter was quite dismissive and rude because we arrived for breakfast at 9.45 when breakfast finishes at 10am. The room was dated and the hot water run out after approx 15 minutes - not quite enough time for us both to shower. There was a lot of early morning noise from what sounded like glass bottles being thrown away - although I didn't see a recycling bank near by?

    Evening meal at the hotel was very good and enjoyed by all at our table. The hotel had a homely, cosy feel.

    Entrance locked when we came back at 23:00, bell for porter not working. Luckily we had the telephone number with us or we might have had to spend the night in the car.

    The room was spacious, nice views, bed was comfortable, generally a quiet area. Everything worked (TV, kettle, hair drier). Staff were friendly, nice breakfast choices.

    There is a football club just up the road from the hotel. On one night there was alot of noise outside, sounded like drinkers from town, but there were police outside and lots of screaming and shouting, this was about midnight. The next night I was lying in bed when myself and my partner heard our door being unlocked. My partner got up to see what was going on, and it was a member of staff asking if we were in the honeymoon suite, which was confusing as we were not and staff should know where rooms are. So that was unsettling and I kept thinking someone would come in our room.

    "Merthyr Tydfil is a pretty depressing place but the hotel was away from the immediate centre and well signposted with brown tourist signs. The hotel is quite old fashioned, with fabrics and decor that came from the 70's. However, there is adequate parking and the restaurant (which is popular with local people) has a good variety on the menu and is reasonably priced (as is the wine)but if you don't like sauces with your meat (Thai, Chinese, Chasseur etc.) you won't have much choice. The breakfast was OK. We didn't see the point of the rather naff 4 poster bed." (97225069)

    The room was large, the hotel surprisingly quiet and the food and staff were both very good.

    The shower head didn't work, neither did the trouser press.

    The friendliness of the staff!!!! Couldn't do enough for us. It was just about 2 blocks away from the center of Merthyr Tydvil where we were doing genealogy research so we would walk down each day. Great exercise for us.

    The bed!!!! We had to sleep on it for 9 nights and our backs were so sore each morning when we arose!!!!!

    It was ideally situtated for Cyfartha Castle where I was attending the Donny Osmond concert.

    No hot water so had to wash in cold/luke warm water. One of the bedside lamps didn't work. Bed too soft and lumpy.

    comfort, cleanliness and the staff were very attentive.

    am sorry to say, the food, it seemed to me as if it was, eg.tinned soup, and thought the meat had been sliced from a precooked joint, and then overheated. having said that, my breakfast was excellent.

    "Easy to find, well sign-posted, comfortable hotel. Some outside accommodation with mostly covered walk-way to the main hotel. Staff were found to be curtious and obliging. Good sized rooms. Seems to be a quiet location but not far from the town centre, with its own car park." (99136701)

    "The hotel is well signposted, parking is a bit tight. It is not clear if it is OK to park on the road when the car park is full. Food was good and general atmosphere was good. Some waiting staff need a little more training." (99475350)

    Warm cheerful atmosphere. No problems with arriving late. Very nice bedroom.

    The waiting staff the first night in the dining room were not attentive. I had to get my own menu, order drinks from the bar and had to ask someone to take our food order. Very sloppy that night but good the next one.
