    Some parts of the hotel were very nice.

    Understaffed. Nobody spoke English or understood us. Ran out of several beverages at a wedding reception.

    Very nice room, location, grounds and the Hotel in general. Staff very friendly. In-room facilities very good. Breakfast just about right.

    None really but not much on offer after 11 pm - eg Bar shut, no night porter / assistance if required.

    Due to lack of residence the Hotel was maintained by minimal staff.

    Excellent hotel, much more elegant inside than it looks from the outside; beautiful setting

    Water ran cold in shower after 2 minutes, then very hot

    The hotel was an excellent base for a visit to Oxford. As a lone female I felt totally safe and comfortable. The staff were very helpful. The bus stop is just outside and it's only a short journey to oxford. The food was excellent - a very high standard and a good choice. The prices were ver reasonable.

    This is a charming hotel in a nice location on the outskirts of Oxford. There is a park & ride link 5mins from the hotel which takes about 15mins to reach the city centre. The hotel is well presented throughout, the staff are excellent and it makes a change to stay in a well run independent hotel rather than a similar budget chain hotel. This is where I stay every time I visit Oxford.

    No bad points, but the breakfast could be a little better quality i.e freshly squeezed orange juice; better bread; not tinned mushrooms.

    Excellent breakfast included in overnight price. Hotel situated in a beautiful location. Our room had a balcony overlooking the hotel's garden and ancient woodland beyond and contained an extremely comfortable four poster bed.

    There was nobody on reception when we arrived and along with another client had to wait some time before somebody turned up to check us in. In fact the hotel seemed a bit deserted at the time.

    Excellent service and attention. Facilities ideally suited to our party of 7 ladies. Thank you for the private dining arrangement.

    Computer system was down when we arrived that meant that checking in was delayed and settling bills on departure was a muddle because there was a breakdown of communication between staff. Bills were prepared on room basis, thus split 5 ways, instead of 7 ways (total number of individual guests in party)as agreed the previous day. This led us to question total amount charged on bar / meals (total divided by 5 was more than we'd expected, which led to the total being divided by 7, that was fine). Finally sorted out and the member of staff on duty kept his cool and compusure well, considering.

    Hotel itself clean and well turned out, rooms clean, tidy and of reasonable size.

    no chef on first night, not informed of change of breakfast/opening at weekend, so paid for breakfast that we never received but wanted! and left hotel without seeing any staff whatsoever, phoned but no reply pm Saturday. staff young and inexperienced although friendly and helpful.

    Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely surroundings. Easy access to bus connection to the city. Nice, failry spacious rooms. We liked the music accompanying our breakfast.

    Surprisingly small, old TV in the room. The breakfast menue offered croissants, but there were none: Disappointing.

    excellent room, four poster bed, lovely bathroom, generally clean and tidy, lovely gardens and balcony, adequate parking facilities, good breakfast.

    ashtray on balcony was dirty, not provided with milk for tea or coffee, dirty glass left outside our room.

    beautiful, peaceful setting with very nicely decorated, clean rooms

    breakfast wasn't brilliant - very sparse, fruit and milk almost empty, no croissants although there were supposed to be, etc. Language barrier of waiters also a problem - we were really glad we hadn't booked evening meal there.

    The accomodation was very good. The Room was clean, silent and in best conditions. The hotel is very familiar.

    It is not possible to make a ring from outside direct to the rooms. Sometimes it would be useful to have this option - especially for business travelers.
