    Great food far better then most 5 star hotels we have stayed in and the staff were exellent well done Northover Manor

    well sited, good relaxing atmosphere

    Room requests placed on website (i.e. room should have a table and chair as I need to work at night) are not passed on, luckily the hotel could change my room.

    Good location, good food (excellent pheasant), good selection and variety of drinks, freindly staff.

    Small room (not in main building), no desk to work from (business traveller), poor lighting on stairwell (can't see switch at night) could use sensor light switches.

    Local to where I need to work, quiet, and in a location where alternative places to eat can be found if the hotels meals are not to your taste.

    Heating can be a bit poor in the cold, and not all rooms have facilities for working in the evening (desk and chair).

    Room was small, tatty and noisy. No bath only an inadequate shower. Given the good reviews on the website, if I had decided to stay for a weekend, I would have been very disappointed. Beer was flat too. A bar menu would have given more choice than the expensive restaurant.

    The room was very comfortable, shower a bit strange as was a walk in shower cubicle,but would be brilliant for disabled person..Very comfortable beds.

    If pushed, perhaps a little less brusque manner from the breakfast waiter..

    Attractive building with a good blend of new and old. Excellent lounge and bar area with pleasant restaurant. Ambience of bedroom excellent, good size. Pleasant views .

    Road noisier than expected, front rooms not good for the lighter sleepers

    Excellent value for money although we were almost put off by the price, assuming that the low price indicated a poor standard. We were, therefore, very pleasantly surprised. The menu was impressive and the polite and friendly staff made the experience pleasureable.

    TV in bedroom didn't work, (aerial not connected). Service was a little slow at breakfast but I got the impression that this was a 'one off' and not the usual situation.

    Warm welcome by Mr Haddigan who was most helpful.Spacious restaurant and food was excellent. Well stocked bar with a separate large and very comfortable lounge.Plenty of seating in an attractive courtyard.

    We had booked two rooms for our party. The first was good but the second was disappointing in size and facilities considering the tariff.

    "Generally good for what I use a hotel for. Staff very friendly and helpful. I'd have preffered to know about the function before I arrived just that I could make alternative arrangements for my evening meal. Noise didn't disturb me. The ownwers are obviously spending money on the place to bring it up to date internally. If you want Olde Worlde Charme, this will fit the bill." (99420365)

    It is in a quiet location, clean, bed was good and dining room excellent. Close to where I needed to be.

    Shower stall too small. Tv didn't work that well.

    It was quiet, comfortable, clean. It was very close to the customer's location.

    The towels were rather tattered (long strings hanging from them where they were fraying).

    "We would very much like to stay at the hotel again, but we were disappointed with the rather basic standard of room 14, as referred to above. More could be made of the area by the stream/river/canal, for seating, as the outlook was very nice and peaceful, and the sighting of a pair Kingfishers was an absolute treat.There was only one small two seater bench there, however, which was not very stable. The film theme was an unusual and attractive feature, reflecting Mark's interests (and the peanut machine was good!). Many thanks for posting on the items of clothing accidentally left behind.     Friendliness of owners and family, the staff, service, food, ambience, and garden.

    In room 14 - Mattress very poor indeed, very noisy and faulty springs, and not supportive enough. Room on the small side, with no settee or arm chairs, or mini bar. Also little privacy owing to low window overlooking car park

    No shower in the room, and the evening meal was overcooked and inedible.

    Friendly; quiet; clean

    Ground floor room; very warm night; only opening window was large enough to pose serious security risk. Thus window kept closed, and uncomfortable night followed.

    Breakfast was poor, food & milk was off on 2 occasions, which put us off eating here in the evening. The room we stayed in was situated over the kitchen so we were unable to open the window for fumes We also had a 4 poster bed and although it looked good the bed was very uncomfortable probabley because it was old you could hear every turn made.

    menu; bar meals would be good idea - alternatives to main restaurant which is very nice but not very single traveller friendly! ie dim lighting - ideal for a romantic evening but not business evening on your own. Room service did not seem to be available.

    "The hotel is in a lovelly setting and is very easy to find. The Propretor was really lovelly and made us feel very welcome. Our first room suffered heating problems but when we brought this to the attention of staff we were moved to a new room which was fanstastic and we were even compensated with a bottle of wine. The food in the restaurant was fantastic both for the evening meal and for breakfast. Would stay there again if travelling in that area." (3304185957)

    Very warm, good sized room with excellent facilities. Lovelly hotel with very friendly and accomodating staff.

    The firt room we had suffered heating problems but the staff were very happy to move us to a different room.

    "The Northover was in the process of having extensive building works carried out during our stay. This did not effect us in any way, the staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. The bar area was warm and quite with the open fire creating the type of atmosphere we were looking for. There was plenty of choise for breakfast which was well presented setting us up nicely for the day ahead" (3304141051)
