    "My husband & myself were due to have a motorhome to travel around the scottish coast for 10 days for our honeymoon but unfortunately the day before we were due to set off the motorhome was involved in an accident in france & wasn't able to have the motorhome & they didnt have another available for us. So at short notice we had to try & book something quick, we managed to book a caravan for a week which was central in scotland but wanted 2 extend our week & managed to stumble across this hotel, it was a magnificent start to our honeymoon THANK YOU so much."     "It felt devoid of any atmosphere. It was obviously very geared up to wedding parties. The function room was set up for a wedding even down to the fake petals on the tables and we discovered that no wedding was actually taking place that weekend! We did not pay attention when booking to look at a map. Described as a country house hotel when less than 1/2 mile from the motorway was somewhat disappointing. The gentleman who booked us in was a really nice guy but the waiter/barman was humourless and hopeless. He appeared to have an inflated idea of his skills but did not even light the candle at our table and had no idea of what the dishes on the menu consisted of including the cheeseboard. We chose from the bar menu as we felt the restaurant menu did not offer value for money. Unfortunately the meal was very poor complete with uncooked chicken breast which luckily was deducted from the bill,(to be honest the first impression was that it had been plated up when originally cooked,frozen and then reheated). The breakfast went some way to redeem the hotel but was not outstanding. We felt that perhaps the hotel should close in the winter months and only open for weddings in the summer. Sorry!" (97869051)

    Comfortable bed and decent shower

    Generally very beige and brown. Room very 80's in decor with no soul. Bar area poor, with stained seating and harsh lighting.

    "Overall the stay was very good meals were fine and twin room was excellent but the single room was not quite as good. Although i was not looking for a swimming pool or a Gym i think if these facilities were added it would turn what is already a good hotel in a nice location into a super hotel" (97988450)

    Food excellent but very poor portion which my 4 guest commented on. We did have a very bad experience that a noisy occurrence happened out side our room. This was not the fault of the hotel

    "It was disappointing to find that breakfast wasn't served unitl 7.30. I ordered a continental breakfastto be delivered to my room which didn't arrive. On contacting reception I was then brought some toast and coffee." (97513776)

    "The hotel was in very good order throughout, my room was well appointed, very clean and thoughtfully stocked with various Extras such as bottled mineral water, biscuits etc. The whole experience was very good from the friendly, helpfulness of the staff to the excellent food and comfortable room. There was nothing which I disliked, except perhaps a view out of my window, but there isn't much that you can do about that. I stay in many hotels throughout the year all over the country. This was one of the nicest. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to friends/work collegues." (97288639)

    Well appointed, clean room. Excellent food.

    Very minor niggles. There was no view from my room. The bathroom was too hot, I couldn't turn the heated towel rail off!

    "We stayed in one of the rooms with a patio door onto a terrace. This was an unsolicited upgrade to our booking as the hotel was quiet. It was large, very well equipped and of a very high standard. The restaurant was perhaps a little expensive but the food was of an excellent quality with a good choice. Breakfast was superb and the views from the restaurant are spectacular. We will certainly use this hotel again." (99740642)

    "Our stay was a terrific expierience and it was a real pleasure to be looked after by staff who one felt genuinely were concerned that your stay would be a memorable event. Both my wife and I cannot commend the hotel highly enough and we will be returning in the spring for a longer stay." (99921241)

    The manger of the hotel on our arrival could not have been more helpful and even allowed my wife and I a choice of three rooms to pick from. We enjoyed a lovely bar meal in front of the open fire and once again all our requests were carried out thourghly and efficiently in all aspects of service and attentiveness.

    "This is a well positioned hotel close to the motorway. The hotel has recently added some new bedrooms which we stayed in - these still have teething problems and are only adequate for the cost of the room rate. The restaurant needs some attention as you need to go through it to access the bedrooms and it looks a bit like a a range of tables set out for a conference lunch - it lacks style, individuality, finesse etc., even the seats/tables are just banquetting style. Overall the staff were this hotel's greatest asset; however there does need to more on offer to make the hotel really good value for money and a quality experience." (3305091447)

    Excellent staff and service

    Only way of getting fresh air in our room was via a terrace door, which could not be left open at night for security reasons (ground floor terrace).

    Beautiful location. Nice sized dining room with views out across the countryside. Staff very friendly and helpful.

    When outside the hotel the noise of the M74 was disturbing. Had to ask for the vegetables for dinner on the first night. Long wait for Croissants for breakfast.

    "The hotel is in an excellent location. The rooms are spacious, and well equipped. Responsible dog owners are made to feel welcome. The meals and service where generally good. Rooms are quiet when windows are closed although the close location of the M74, whilst being convenient, does mean traffic noise when in the hotel grounds. Would have liked to have known about 'dog' charge when booking (I am not complaining about this as it is reasonable to expect a small charge for the extra work created by the dog). Also, it was never confirmed that we could take our dog with us. It was assumed that as our request had not been rejected, it was ok. Also, easy to miss sign for hotel when coming off the Motorway. Generally very good but difficult to judge after one night." (3304393873)

    Spacious and clean room, good facilities, perfect location as we had a dog. Made to feel welcome (idea of sample food for dog and towell is commendable.

    "The overall lasting impression of our stay was the friendliness of the staff. without exception they were all very friendly and helpfull.     Cosy and comfortable, although ensiuite shower a bit on the small side.

    Bar Area. it's a smoking room and small therefore smoke does not dissapate easily, was uncomfortable for non smokers

    the staff friendliness and responsivwness,size of room and cleanliness, the food

    the beds were very soft and lumpy. in need of replacement. This led to a restless nights sleep which was disappointing as otherwise a pleasant experience. it is a shame we did not realize the discomfort of the beds until in them, as i am sure staff would have moved us.

    "I don't feel that I stayed long enough to suggest any changes. You do take dogs I believe and as I left mine at home to attend the wedding if I had more information on your facility to accommodation for dogs I may have brought him along. To be fair I could have asked. I have heard comments on other hotels having no available rooms when booking online, but having rooms when telephoned so for your service this was a bonus" (2295595)

    "In a two week stay covering six hotels, two of which were very posh and highly reviewed, this was our overall favorite. While the room decor was slightly dated, the hotel is undergoing renovation. The views were wonderful, and I cannot say enough about the staff who provided impeccable service.
