    The room was a disgrace. It stunk, the bedding wasn't fresh and it pobably hasn't been decorated since the 70's. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

    Spacious, clean room. Friendly, helpful staff. Good food. Location excellent for Ricoh Arena.

    Placed in a "TV Diner chair for one" in the restaurant early evening when only a few other diners and space available at 2 setting tables - felt very conspicuous and awkward. These chairs may appeal to male travellers.

    Closeness to the event we were attending. Breakfast was good.

    No air conditioning in rooms and it was very hot and humid during the night so didn't sleep particularly well.

    "The internet access that was advertised on the site and in the room was unobtainable. The receptionist claimed he would ask the duty manager if the service could be turned on--- he said that due to refurbishment of the building the quadra computer had been disconnected, however, when I returned to reception three hours later to see what the duty manager said I was told by the same member of staff that he forgot to mention it. He then told me to take the TV / Film Internet package that was discounted from £17 to £9-99 as a way of maybe getting the computer to work--- this after he had said that the system was disconnected---- what kind of logic is that. I told him that a leaflet in the room quoted a £3 charge for internet through the tv so why would I pay three times that amount, he had no answer.To make things far worse, the next morning I complained about the lack of internet and was told that it had been working all the time and that it just had to be opened from reception. This member of staff was uninterested in my complaint and dismissive. I would not select a Novotel again, I chose it over the Campanile, which was £20 cheaper because I needed internet access as part of my visit. I had even listed the need for this service in the special requests section on the internet booking form. The attitude of the staff was not good and obviously their training is in need of upgrading--- when I told the check out receptionist that I saw that the internet was charged £3 extra he claimed never to have seen this information even though it is on a leaflet in the room. The restaurant was a soulless place ; I should have realised something was wrong when I saw only three other people in the restaurant for dinner when the car park was fairly full. The main course took 20 minutes to arrive, it was poor quality lamb that smelled and tasted as if it had been cooked on a barbeque--chared burned fat, the desert though was excellent.I did not havce breakfast because at £12and £15 it was too expensive a risk to take. I normally stay at the Ramada which is of a higher grade but by the time Novotel have added their charges up they are the more expensive option.A mistake I will not make again." (97115406)

    The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious

    The hotel is creeping out of the 1970's as building renovation is ongoing--- they did not mention that when I booked. The corridors are grey / fawn with cold dim spot lights and a smell of cigarette smoke in the corridors.

    "When I arrived there was only one person dealing with four arrivals, so I had to wait. That wasnt a problem, but when I checked out I needed to get away to meet a deadline, and there must have been ten people waiting. As I had no extras to pay, I left my key and departed." (97345741)

    Old fashioned room that needed a refurb - reception was in the process of having it.

    "I'd recommend this hotel if you're going to an event at the Ricoh Arena, as it's really convenient, but apart from that it was a bit shabby." (97598035)

    We were in Room 153 which seemed to be below the cleaner's cupboard on the next floor up. Someone started moving things around and banging things on the floor from 5am until around 6.30. The man on reception acknowledged that it wasn't a bedroom above us (he didn't say exactly what was up there), so I'd avoid room 153 if I were to go again!

    I found the staff very pleasent and helpfull. easy accsess from the M6 and the Richo arena.

    "Generally reasonable. The prices at the bar are extortionate and should be reviewed. When making the booking on-line I was asked if I required a smoking room. I replied in the affirmative, yet at the hotel all rooms are non smoking. When checking out the bill had been prepared with breakfast included at extra cost. We did not have breakfast. A new bill was quickly re done." (97838043)

    Simple check in, room adequate for our needs.

    No smokng rooms despite the option being on the online booking.

    "The overnight stay was a good experience, the staff,hotel and room were all as I expected. The room was very clean and airy with excellent facillities, the staff were more than happy to be of assistance they were polite and exstreamly helpful.     "As I travelled by train and had no use of a car during my stay at the Novotel I was keen to know about eating places near the hotel, but didn't find any near at hand, but did have evening meals at the Novotel. The hotel was also very conveniently situated for an event I attended at the Ricoh Arena, and was within walking distance." (97923678)

    "Pleased with the hotel generally, good to have visible staff on duty.The food in the dining room was excellent and the staff their very efficient.We were impressed with the whole place.We stayed in a standard room, which was short of a small table to put cups on etc while watching TV,or reading papers.,also it needed a wall light behind sofa as there was no central light.On a score 1-10 I WOULD GIVE IT 8." The only feedback is that one of your staff was unhappy about the behaviour/performance of another and was complaining about this to colleagues.     Pleasantly surprised by the room as it was a cheap deal for one night. Plus you couldn't hear any noise in the room from a party that was being held downstairs.

    The mattress was very hard so found we didn't sleep that well.

    broadband internet access. large room. clean.
