    Excellent customer manner by the staff at Birch. Very clean and tidy and good value for money. I would stay there again.

    Noise from M62 but know thats not the hotels fault.

    Good Location from motorway. Parking good.

    Signage from carpark took me to a private party rather than direct to the reception. Room only had one towel for a couple. Radiator was scalding hot with no means of turning it down. Breakfast didn't have brown bread.

    VERY friendly staff. Beautiful setting and attractive reception and breakfast room. Main course meal was fab and worth twice the price!

    Cold food both at dinner with the hot apple pie and custard which i could live with and at breakfast which to be honest was awfully cold even by normal buffet standards. The room smelt on arrival and we had to vacate it with the window left open for the evening before returning. The grounds could have been idylic however the labs were broken and loose at the rear and i slipped on the moss on the ground when having a stroll.

    Restaurant uninviting. Room not cleaned properly on second day. Toiletries not replenished on second day.

    Pleasant Receptionist, who I think doubled as late bar person. Hearty breakfast, much enjoyed

    Manager took some convinving that my overnight stay had been pre-paid. Tea making facilities in room but no kettle. No spare kettles available, told that they were full and this was their spare room. On returning to the Hotel in the evening, discovered that the light bulb in the room (which had no shade) did not work. Eventually, in the morning gave up in disgust trying to get hot water to an inadequate shower.

    We did find that the room smelled of smoking, which as neither of us smokes was not too good. Although I booked over the internet my payment did not appear to work. So had to do it again when I checked in.

    "The 1st floor room had been refurbished, but not the ground floor one we changed to. The manager was concerned that we were ok about that. Bathroom did need upgrade but perfectly usable, and the bedroom was clean, tidy & comfortable. In all, fantastic value & we'll stay there again." (107468650)

    Fantastic value £30 for twin room, including full English breakfast. Transfer from 1st to ground floor when we asked.

    Shower head broke whilst taking a shower and hit my left shoulder! Reported next morning and advised it would be attended to, but on return it wasn't so requested an elastic band which did the job... Hotel looks a little on the tired side...

    the booking by internet was so easy,it was done in five minuits.the room was exellent value and standard.staff were very friendly and helpfull,we all enjoyed our stay very much.the value was very good,we were suprised how little it cost us.

    I think the equipment was poor as the bedside light did not work and only one door of the shower opened.cleanliness was poor as there was blood stains or something else on one of the sheets,and stains on the carpets

    paint odour and mess in corridors, noise form nearby roads, one of only a handful of guests but accomodated at far end of hotel. Staff seemed disgruntled that I didn't want cooked breakfast when I was the only guest having breakfast.

    The maid was scurrying around once we were in the room trying to find out if we had towels etc. But this hould have been done before we checked in. The carpet was not cleaned and the bins were not emptied. There was a stain on one of the pillows. The shower rail and head came away from the wall whilst having a shower.

    "The hotel claims to have refurbished all rooms but mine clearly had not been refurbished They admitted that they did not normally let this room and it was not to standard. They should have explained this on arrival and reflected it in the price. They could have recovered the situation by not charging me for dinner, but did not do this, therefore I would not stay there again." (97210271)

    Completely inadequate shower, dinner was inedible and I was still charged. No bedside lamp.

    We liked the situation of the hotel which was just right for our needs to attend a party 2 miles away. We thought that the staff were very helpful indeed. We liked the fact that we could have our dog in her basket in our bedroom.

    Nice location, well decorated interior, nice breakfast - which served until 10:15am on the Sunday!

    The room we had wasn't very big. We had a problem with the shower as it wouldn't drain which meant that we were unable to use it before the night out we had planned - so not ideal!! Nobody had advised us of how to lock the room doors - the locks were old fashioned and took us some time to work out you couldn't lock with a key - a simple note on the hugh keyring would have been a simple solution!

    "The Hotel is in an excellent location, easily accessible from the M62 Motorway and a good stopping off place for both family and business clientele." (97850500)

    Staff were friendly and welcoming. Toilet and shower facilities were good and the full English breafast was excellent.

    The bedroom adequate and clean but the carpet was a bit 'worn out'

    smelt very damp. Bathroom was filthy and the bath tiny with what look liked mould all around the edges. One of the single bads was ready to collapse.
