    "The friendliness and efficiency of the staff in reception in particular and also in the dining room made the stay a pleasant one. However, the rooms and housekeeping let the hotel down." (108341744)

    The Reception Staff were excellent. Staff in the dining room were good at dinner but rather lacking at breakfast.

    Room G40(I think) was appalling. No radiator on the wall etc etc etc. Room 319 was fine although the radiator was not on and there was no way of changing this at there was nothing to turn. Housekeeping was appalling in every way. Dirty towels left on the side of the bath after they had been placed in the bath. Waste bins left in the middle of the room and the bathroom. Dirty glass left of bedside table etc. Not impressive.

    Hotel had no record of my online booking when I arrived. Took ages to make manual booking whilst standing at reception. Restaurant had no space. Pool/Gym was closed when we arrived.

    Reception staff were very freindly. Breakfast had a good selection

    I used your bar to have a pizza and a drink/ Bar staff need more training on how to use the computur system as this caused a problem getting served. Pizza was hot but not very appetizing.

    Pleasant surroundings/grounds

    Had to wait several minutes to be seated for breakfast. Room was acceptable but would benefit from refurbishment.

    Staff seemed uninterested in giving a good service. Tempus bar was dingey and lunch menu uninspiring, we were kept waiting a long while to get into our room, given wrong information as to the location of our room, which was very small and stiflingly hot, we had two electric fans going all night long to keep us cool. We asked for more pillows as we had one very thin one each, were told the cleaner would have to phone her boss to ask about this and were then given only one extra pillow. When going for a drink in the bar in the evening we found they stocked neither ginger wine nor ginger ale. All in all a very disappointing stay, poor value for money. We would not recommend it to anyone.

    "There were so many bad points that they overshadowed the good points! This destroyed any good feeling we had about the hotel and we dont understand how it has earned any stars!!" (108336879)

    Long wait to check in and check out. Shabby exterior, not well maintained. Dinner was totally inedible and we had to send it back and leave, though breakfast was better. Dirty trays, glasses etc left in the corridors for a long time Linen rooms left open for all to see the dirty laundry.

    Towels fluffy but must have been new as left bits on skin and clothes Long wait for a table for breakfast and not enough staff serving so a wait for glasses, bread etc

    Wonderful location.

    Hotel dining and breakfast experience very poor. Breakfast was cold. Service was non existent (at table). Those tables that were set for service were set with less than clean crockery. Staffing inadequate for busy breakfast service requirement.

    nice setting, good stag, not much chance to erxperience hotel, see below.thanks for making good arrangements for disabled partner

    would liked to have dinner in hotel, could have been mentioned by staff when booking or at some point, as had to leave hotel to eat that night after travelling a long distance already

    good breakfast

    It would be cold in Winter with the single glazing and rotten window frames. Very uncomfortable pillows Our room had a connecting door to adjacent room which we discovered was not sound proof!

    The dinner in the Cedar restaurant was very good.

    I had 13 guests staying at the hotel. One of the rooms was so bad with damp, the paint was peeling off the walls, the heating wasn't working. One of the guests slipped out of the bath due to flooding. I rang the reception 4 times, just to hear the phone ring out. 2 of our elderly guests were transferred to another room on the 2nd floor with no lift. We waited 20 mins to get a drink.

    friendly staff, nice bar lovely setting

    the leisure facilities were shocking. The lockers are a mess and not suitable for the wet environment the towels were horrible and the whole place smelled damp and looked like it needed a refurb or at least a good clean - having said that the staff were super really friendly and helpful. I would seriously consider new lockers and getting the showers sorted out

    clean hotel room, tidy room. Clean bathroom. Friendly staff.

    There was not a wide range of food to order from the bar although we arrived at 6pm. The food we did order, half of it arrived cold. The ground floor room we were given was extremely hot and stuffy, hardly any good ventilation at all and for an asthmatic that was uncomfortable. I also arrived to see to upset customers at the desk that didn't seem to to informed about what was happing with their complaint, this was not good to see!

    "I stayed then night as it was my friends wedding and although the room we stayed in was large, it was very spartan. One of the main reasons I stayed at this hotel was because of the leisure facilities however the drains and the overall cleaniless and poor state of the sauna, steam room and whirl pool let me down. The pool was nice but filled with young children which made swimming difficult." (107200029)

    The hotel itself clean and the staff discreet and polite.

    The drains in the changing areas of the leisure centre stank. The whirlpool water looked like it required cleaning. The bedroom was overly heated and the water in the bathrooms scalding hot.

    The hotel and grounds looked in a well kept manner,

    the room I was allocated was to hot even do the rad was not on, there was a consent load noise through out the night that keep me awake & when I reported at 2331hrs to the reception No One Came To Sort It

    windows would not open properly, chamber maid came in in the morning we were still in room she did not knock this was well before checkout time, there were no face flannels supplied, room too close to next rooms only one door seperating between the rooms, they kept turning the handle in the next room.

    "THE STAY WAS IN GENERAL GOOD. CORRIDORS ARE SOMEWHAT NARROW AND IF PULLING SUITCASES THAT CAN BE A PROBLEM. SIGNPOSTING IS GOOD FOR DIRECTIONS AROUND THE HOTEL INSIDE. SIGNPOSTING AROUND THE GROUNDS COULD BE BETTER. FOOD IS EXCELLENT QUALITY AND PLENTY OF SELECTION" (97279048)

    MAINLY IT WAS THE STUNNING VIEW OUT OF THE BEDROOM WINDOW BUT ALSO THE SPEED OF SERVICE CORRECTING A FAULT WITH OUR HEATING

    "A good place to stay, great rates, go for the executive suite for great views, and a decent size of bed. They have a focused menu of wine and food, and good service to back it up. If you get through the Croydon traffic at rush hour, its a releif to see the hotel at the top of the drive." (97460285)

    Sympathetic to the ae of the building, and retains the charm and history

    Light bulbs not working in the bedroom, doors in the room didn't open onto the balcony, overlooking the golf course.

    Small rooms, poor layouts - no place to put toilet kits in bathrooms. Nobody offerred to take my two bags downstairs. While the hotel is an old manor, the rooms look like they were for the kitchen staff when the Lords resided in the manor. The hotel has squeezed too many rooms into the building. Some of the rooms should be combined into two rooms so that business travelers get adequate space. Staff seemed a bit indifferent. It took over 15 minutes to check out, since ther was only 1 person to check people out.

    Good pleasant room with very adequate and working facilities En-suite had been recently refurbished and was very clean and nice.

    Nothing particular about the room but noisy morning chamber staff on corridor and early cleaning noise from adjacent rooms, including knock on door shortly after 8.00am. There was an apology though! Staff at breakfast not proactive in serving table but service ok once asked.

    "There were a couple of matters that were not satisfactory. When booking the hotel I phoned to order a taxi for the night in question, when double checking this at hotel,there was no record of it. Another taxi was ordered but arrived half an hour late, little interest was shown by conciarge. Having asked about breakfast in our room were told to leave request hanging on our door before 3am. It was still there at 10am (no one had collected it) after a couple of calls to reception our breakfast arrived 5mins before check out time, which was not satisfactory, we then had to pay cash for tray service as it had not been added to bill!"     "This is an old hotel (but very comfortable) and well insulated from the outside world by beautiful grounds.     The room was spacious with ample space for babycots and lugguage. The bed was big and very comfortable.

    The bins in the room and bathroom were too small. There was no towel racks in the bathroom for hanging dry or wet towels
